'The Simpsons' are going Gaga

Surely this was only a matter of time: Lady Gaga will guest on "The Simpsons" in the 23rd season.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Mother Monster has recorded a guest spot for an episode called "Lisa Goes Gaga." The pop superstar ventures to Springfield in the episode after she finds out that it's full of self-esteem, and ends up giving Lisa a pep talk that includes a song (of course) and a flash mob.

"I make music, and I don't do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny; I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor," she told EW of the experience, which she called "a little nerve-wracking."

"That's what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines," she said.

We'll have to wait a little while to see how she did, as "Lisa Goes Gaga" won't air until the spring of 2012.

The 23rd season of "The Simpsons" begins on September 25.

I wonder if Gaga will be jumping a shark for them while she's on there - or if Homer will get the honor.

Does anyone still watch the Simpsons? Totally agree the show has been stupid and irrelevant for quite some time.

Or when they play with themselves. What is in there that "she" plays with ? I wonder.

It would be more fun if Lady Gaga played a classmate of Lisa or Bart, rather than herself. Guest stars usually aren't so funny when they play themselves.

The Simpsons lost their wit and hold of genius comedy in about 2000 or 2001. The last decade has been crap filled with predictable and boring plots and lines, and they've relied on too many celebrity guests to gain interest. It's not surprising that fans of the show are fans of this type of plot. Everyone has their own tastes, and if people can still enjoy it, great. However, I just don't see how anyone can compare the genius of the first 8 or 9 (or so) seasons with the last decade. I find it unwatchable.

For it’s 23rd season, Lady Gaga just hit the studio to record her lines for the upcoming episode “Lisa Goes Gaga,” which sees her trying to cheer up Lisa Simpson who’s suffering a bout of low-self-esteem. http://bit.ly/rmcaU4

I miss the golden seasons of the Simpsons, about Season 4 – Season 12. "Joy of Sect", "Cape Fear", "Das Bus", "Bart of Darkness", and "Marge v Monorail" are the best episodes EVER. Also, I miss Phil Hartman.

Family Guy is far and away more hilarious than The Simpsons ever was. Peter is way funnier than Homer could ever be. He's also better in the sack.

Family Guy was very funny. Until Seth MacFarlane stopped coming up with enough material to fill 22 minutes. He has ruined so many gags because he runs them into the ground. It's like he's a 6 year old kid who gets a laugh with a joke then proceeds to repeat it constantly for the rest of the day.
One example was the "Bin Laden outtake" gag. It was hysterical. Then another flub. HAHAHAHHA! OMG, that's funny! Oh, he did it again, again, again again? again...
After the 4th time Bin Laden flubbed it ran out of steam. But, Seth must of laughed every time because they did it over and over and over. By the end, I was screaming "OK! WE GET IT!"

Every episode of Family Guy is the same thing. If the gag is funny, it is repeated to the point of stupidity.

Either Seth MacFarlane is doing the little kid getting his 1st laugh routine or he thinks we are just too stupid to get a joke unless we see it 50 times. Because of this, FG (and American Dad) has lost most of its wit and relies on simple gags.

Guess I am also a 6 year old kid because I still find the show hilarious. I stop in on The Simpsons and it makes me feel just sort of sad inside.

PS American Dad was NEVER funny.
