Who won 'So You Think You Can Dance?'

I think I can get used to this.

For the second year in a row, the best dancer all season was America's favorite dancer.

And for the first time, as predicted, it was two women standing at the end. Sasha fought harder than just about any dancer I've seen, but at the end of the day, with a decisive 47 percent of the vote, Melanie Moore ended up the champion.

After last night's lackluster performance finale, it was great to revisit some of the highlights of the season, and the fact that Melanie was in so many of them was tough to ignore.

Getting a second look, I have to say that Mandy Moore's routine with Lauren and Tadd may be my favorite of the season – and this time Tadd didn't lose his hat!

I also have to hand it to Lil' C for picking two routines (the woodpeckers and "Mr. Jailer") that happened earlier on in the season, with dancers who didn't make the top 10 (great to see you again, Miranda, Robert, Ashley and Chris!).

We also got a real reunion between this year's Katee and Joshua, Melanie and Marko – twice in fact, with "I Got You" and the "statue" routine.

But, for me, it was "SYTYCD" UK winner Matt Flint, along with this season's two tappers, Jess and Nick, who stole the show. First of all, it's exciting to realize that it's possible for a tapper to win. As Nigel Lythgoe said, this trio's number was one of the best tap routines I've ever seen.

Of course at the end of every season there are unanswered questions: Why was Pasha and Caitlynn's Argentine tango on tape (I'm guessing he had a previous engagement)? What's with Alexander going blond? And can we please get Jesse Tyler Ferguson as a regular judge next season?

In any case, congratulations to Melanie, whom we'll be hearing more from a little later here on Marquee Blog.

In the meantime, what did you think of the finale? Did America choose the right winner? Post your iReport or comment below.

first time since season 2 that the same gender won 2 years in a row. Although I have to admit that dispite Nigel's objections, I do feel that ones like Marko and Melanie were either overly put into their genre or they overuse their genre. I am just getting tired of the lack of diversity. a few outside of it, but usually the bulk of the top 20 are always contemporary. I know you can only put through what you've got and who've auiditoned, but this year felt a lot like "so you think you can dance your style" Congrats to melaine though

The entire group of dancers this year was amazing and, yet, Melanie subtly and consistently outshone everyone, every week. She deserves this win. Beyond that: Yes! I would love to see A LOT more of Jesse Tyler Ferguson on this show!

OH YES!!!! She was 150% the standout this season. Always captivating, technically amazing and fearless! And, by the way, consistently charming, humble and grateful – no DRAMA. And, boy wouldn't Jesse be great to have around as a judge? He is too, too funny!!!

honestly, i blame part of the reason for the less than stellar final performance night on wednesday on how the show is formatted. the dancers have 1 week to learn 4 different routines and work on their solos. that's a lot to ask anyone, but they have the added pressure that they're competing in front of a lot of people (in teh audience and at home) obviously, they're going to be amped up but tired by showtime, and of course they're not going to be perfect in every routine. that means the routines that are going to show flaws are going to be the ones most out of their style, which sadly was the disco and the cha cha.

I do think it was unfair though that the guys received most of the flack for those routines though. they definitely have the tougher job as they have to be the support for the girls. That and we already know that the judges love the girls way too much to ever really critique them.

that being said, i feel like nigel only apologized to tadd and marko because he already knew who was going to win. he is executive producer after all. i mean, how else is it that melanie and sasha's sonja tayeh routine "just so happened to be" the last routine of the night. obviously it was planned that way.

congratulations to melanie though! she really was quite an exceptional dancer. you would think, however, that after 7 seasons the judges would learn to give the same level of critique to their favored dancers as they do with everyone else, when deserved of course.

Disagree. Melanie is technically sound but lacked the lyrical grace of Sasha and Marko. Melanie reminds me of a gymnast, while Sasha is always an artist. Congrats to Melanie regardless.

You are so wrong. Are you a dancer? You think Sasha had "lyrical grace." I agree that she is an artist, but Melanie is so much more exciting to watch perform, technically and emotionally. Her facility is unbelievable.

Excellent review of the show! Melanie absolutely deserved to win. She was one of the best dancers on the any season of the show. Also loved the reference to Katee and Joshua! They were my favorite couple of any of the seasons.

I agree with everything you wrote. Watching the full-length version of Melanie's audition piece on YouTube (when she performed it on stage at another event) gave me chills, she is that good – both musical and technical to the nth degrees on both counts.

Also, just like Katee and Joshua, who placed third and first, respecitvely, Melanie and Marko placed first and third, respectively. America really did love M&M, just like they loved Katee and Joshua!
