Don’t be surprised if you see two Peter Parkers slinging around the Great White Way next spring.
As first reported on Deadline, Andrew Garfield, star of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot "The Amazing Spider-Man," will be making his Broadway debut in a revival of Arthur Miller’s "Death of A Salesman." (As we’ve previously reported, "Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark," a musical adaptation of the comic books, opened on Broadway in June after numerous delays and revisions.)
The 1949 play tells the story of traveling salesman Willy Loman, who will be played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, and his wife Linda, played by veteran TV actress Linda Emond.
Garfield will play their underachieving son, Biff. Scott Rudin, the Academy-Award winning producer of "No Country for Old Men" and "The Social Network" (who also worked with Garfield on the latter), is producing the revival.
Although known mostly for film, Rudin is also quite the theater powerhouse as well, winning Tony Awards for his recent production of "The Book of Mormon" and the revival of August Wilson’s "Fences."
"Salesman" is slated to open in March, four months before the "Spider-Man" reboot hits theaters.
