Photos: Rihanna in 'Battleship,' Jennifer Lawrence in 'Hunger Games'Rihanna is set to make her movie debut in a film version of the board game “Battleship," and the first official photo of the pop star as Petty Officer Raikes has been released. Gone are the star's signature skimpy outfits and wild hair; in costume, a fresh-faced Rihanna sports a brunette cropped ‘do and buttoned-up camouflage while gripping an oversized weapon. Set for release in May 2012, “Battleship” centers on a fleet of Navy ships fighting “an armada of unknown origins.” The action movie also stars “True Blood” vampire Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson and model Brooklyn Decker.
“It was a role I felt like I could handle for my first time acting and he was super enthusiastic about it,” Rihanna told Fandango about getting the gig from director Peter Berg. In preparation for the role, RiRi had to do real Naval officer conditioning, including running around a ship, swimming and taking orders from a drill sergeant. “One man drilled me, yelled at me, cursed me out, made me do pushups,” the singer says of her training. Will Rihanna pull a Justin Timberlake and transition to acting, or will she head right back to the recording studio? We'll find out in May! Rihanna's accent is beautiful. The carribean people accent is beautiful period. I'm sure your accent is "uber annoying" to them. Yes, you have an accent also! However, she's a pretty girl and I hope that she can act better than she can sing.
Cant these singers leave the acting to the actors.. That accent that Rhianna has is going to be uber annoying... She looks good but really acting??? Hope she has a language coach for that accent!

She can't be any worst of an actor than Skarsgard. Out of all the R&B singers, Aaliyah and Whitney were the best, Beyoce's in the middle and Mariah was the worst (pre-Precious). I am willing to give Rihanna a chance a s long as she doesn't pull a Britney.
