Sarah Michelle Gellar's going back to 'AMC'

Sarah Michelle Gellar is getting back to her soapy roots.

The star of the CW's  "The Ringer" will have a cameo on "All My Children" before the ABC show's last televised episode on September 23. The 34-year-old actress starred on the show as Kendall from 1993-1995, but she says she's not going to reprise that role.

"I called them and said you know I don’t want to come back as Kendall because that is Alicia [Minshew]'s role and I would never step on that," Gellar told CNN.

"She has done amazing things but I want to mark the time that I spent there," Gellar went on. "I made amazing friends. It was a great training ground and I said, you know, can I do something."

But while she knows what role she won't be playing, Gellar's still in the dark as to how she'll fit in the storyline. "We were able to block out a day out of my schedule from 'Ringer' but I have no idea what I’m doing [on the show]," she said.

Meanwhile, Josh Duhamel's return to "All My Children" - reprising his role as con artist Leo Du Pres - began airing on August 4.

never watched that soap, only know her from buffy which was awesome altho was disappointed she didn't appear in final for angel...with all slayers activated why that small group was left to fight alone was nuts...

and as far as new show goes it looks completely stupid from previews, esp since she's bawling and whining in every scene...I won't be watching...

She was super awesome as the mean Kendall. I'm so glad she loves her soap opera roots and wants to come back. Her comments about no understanding the news of All My Children's cancellation match those of all its fans.

I would love a Buffy movie...I didn't like the Luke Perry one. They really should make a combination Buffy/Angel movie and close all of those holes in the last episodes...

I love Michelle. She will do well. She should try to do some chick flicks. Someone needs to take over Meg Ryans type roles and Michelle hs the looks and the personality to to that. With Meg Ryan getting older Michelle would fit right into those roles.
