While you were working...Today's news you might've missed:
Cowell explains what happened with Cheryl Cole and 'X Factor'There was a healthy amount of rumor surrounding Cheryl Cole's exit from "The X Factor" on both sides of the pond. First she was supposedly dropped from the judges panel of Fox's "X Factor" because her accent was too thick, and then there was an inkling it was because she didn't get along with fellow judge Paula Abdul. Days later, the former Girls Aloud songstress wasn't included in an announcement of judges for the U.K. "X Factor" either, although she'd been a judge on that version since 2008. Whatever went down, what was clear was that Cole had been replaced on the U.S. version by Nicole Scherzinger, who joined judges Abdul, Simon Cowell, and music producer L.A. Reid. Cole has already broken her silence about the situation, and now, during the "X Factor" panel at the Television Critics Association press tour, so has Cowell. Photo: Anne Hathaway in 'The Dark Knight Rises'The website for the next Bat-sequel, "The Dark Knight Rises," leaked the first image of the film - Tom Hardy as Bane - back in May, and on Friday, they unleashed another one: the first look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. Warner Bros. Pictures has been careful not to describe Hathaway as Selina's alter ego, Catwoman, but Hathaway let slip that she is playing "Catwoman" when speaking to Oprah Winfrey back in February. So far, no sign of the character's trademark catsuit-with-mask-and-ears, made famous by the likes of Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Michelle Pfeiffer. But this Selina Kyle is seen riding a motorcycle not terribly different from the one Batman rode in "The Dark Knight." Plus the glasses are pretty cool. What do you think of this photo? Are you getting excited for the final Christopher Nolan "Batman" next year? Lo. Michael Kors ready to wed?Now that same-sex marriage is legal in New York, word is "Project Runway" judge Michael Kors is tying the knot! Life and Style spotted the famed fashion designer and longtime partner Lance LePere at the city clerk's office in Manhattan on Wednesday, and the New York Post reports that the couple is indeed set to marry. "Lance and I are very excited to finally be able to have the opportunity to marry in our home state after many years together,” Kors, 51, said in a statement. “We have no plans for a major party, but we will be getting married privately." The couple met in 1990, when LePere joined Kors’s company as an intern. "Over the years and the day-to-day process of dreaming together, things just naturally fell into place," LePere has said of their relationship, according to Life and Style. The final four are chosen on 'SYTYCD'Well, three out of four ain't bad. In recent weeks, Sasha has blown the judges away with her powerful performances, and, whacking aside, it turns out she had enough support to make it through to the finale, despite my picking of Caitlynn Lawson as a dark horse for the final four. I was happy to see that they went directly with the voters' choices this time. The first to be named for the final four – shocker – was Melanie, the clear front-runner. The two guys were also not terribly surprising, Marko and Tadd. |
