While you were working...Today's news you might've missed:
The Broadway lights dim on 'SYTYCD'Really, I was just happy to know he made it this far. Thursday night's episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" marked the end of the road for Jess LeProtto, as voters rallied to keep Ricky in the competition (which once again goes to show that the voters can and will change their patterns late in the season). Jess was definitely one of my favorites, the best Broadway dancer we've seen in the history of the series. Even so, it had to be an uphill battle for him to make it all the way to the top 8. When he spoke to reporters on Friday, however, he disagreed that he might have had an especially hard time. Did Amy Winehouse reach out to Dr. Drew?Amy Winehouse may have reached out to Dr. Drew Pinsky before she died on Saturday. When former model and "Celebrity Rehab" contestant Janice Dickinson stopped by Pinsky's HLN show on Wednesday, she told Dr. D that she took the liberty of passing his number along to a member of Winehouse’s camp. Though Pinsky says no contact was ever established between him and Winehouse, or any member of her camp, for that matter, he told KROQ on Thursday he recalls receiving a missed call from an unknown international number. Kirstie Alley confronts Letterman over fat jokesDavid Letterman used Kirstie Alley’s recent “Dancing with the Stars” stint to get some laughs on his show, but the “fat actress” wasn’t going to let it slide. While visiting the “Late Show” last night, Kirstie called Dave out for calling her fat. “I feel a little estranged from you,” Alley shared on the show. “I thought you loved me madly, but then you would talk about me being sort of… chub.” Dave offered an apology, admitting, “I did make jokes about the weight.” But it wasn't about to end at that - Kirstie came prepared to read Dave’s jokes, including this zinger: “Kirstie Alley joining ‘Dancing with the Stars’… if you don’t already own one now might be the time to get a wide-screen TV.” Ouch! “We do love you,” Letterman explained, saying he thought he had the actress’s approval for weight-related jokes. “If you were skinny, we’d tell jokes about you being skinny… well, probably not.” ![]() Weeklies cheat sheet: J.Lo and a jilted brideThe music industry lost a huge star, Katie Holmes lost weight and Kristen Cavallari lost her fiance (and her dignity?). Cavallari probably regrets that wedding dress photo shoot now that she and Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler have called off their nuptials, but at least we can see what she might have looked like walking down the aisle in this week's Life & Style. And, this just in: Katie Holmes is among the many celebrities who are too thin. J.Lo appeared on multiple covers this week. Thanks to People, Life&Style, Us Weekly and OK!, we now know Lopez spent her birthday without Marc Anthony, she's been partying and she's plotting her revenge. Oh, and did we mention Denise Richards regrets having her breasts done... each time, that is. Until next week... The Throwback: 'My So-Called Life' lives on... on SundanceIf you miss wearing plaid flannel (even in summer), and harbor an urge to scour your local beauty supply store for some crimson glow hair dye, you may want to check out reruns of "My So-Called Life" on Sundance Channel. If you blinked during the 1994-1995 television season, you might have missed the ABC teen drama which lasted a mere 19 episodes and starred Claire Danes as 15-year-old Angela Chase and Jared Leto as the object of her affection - Jordan Catalano. Jordan. Catalano. Two words. It was never just Jordan. This was just one of the quirks that made "MSCL" so great - there were so many things just for the fans. Remember Tino? You couldn't possibly remember Tino - lead singer of Frozen Embryos/Residue - because you never saw him. FULL POST |
