J.Lo and Marc Anthony call it quitsJennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are splitting up after seven years of marriage. "We have decided to end our marriage," the couple says in a statement. "This was a very difficult decision. We have come to amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time." Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42, wed in 2004, according to People, and are the parents of 3-year-old twins Max and Emme. The pair also have a reality show in the works, called "Q'Viva! The Chosen," which is described as "the ultimate live show celebrating Latin music, artistry and dance." |

I think its sad. Take the careers of these two and set them aside for a moment. They have the same background, they come from the same place, they were raised with the same values and still the seven year curse get to them. Its just sad and sadder still when kids are involved. I don't care how physically big he is compared to her, I don't care whose career is currently the most successful, none of that matters when it comes down to the relationship between two people. You can be the richest people or the poorest people but if you had that connection once and can't make that connection anymore, its just sad. Something wonderful has been lost. I wish them well.

The problem with being cattered to by handlers and sycophants is that you must truly begin to believe that nothing is good enough for you. I knew two beautiful sisters whom everyone adored and flattered and they kept brushing off nice guys thinking their billionaire princes would come and rescue them. Didn't happen. Marriage today seems to mirror 'going with' someone of earlier years, in fact it's almost like 'serious dating'.
Very few people go from adolescence to adulthood with the friends that they had in younger days. Many of those today cannot even claim familial ties as they enter adulthood. So what does that leave you? What do you have besides 'YOU'?
I was married once. My Wife traded me in for a younger more virile model after 3-kids and a stable life left me with impotency due to diabetes. We had our good times, but the bad times define a relationship.
She was fickle regarding career choice, and I argued with, but supported her each time she chose a different mid-career jump. She supported me when I was unfairly targeted during an investigation in the military and found guilty. I caught her with my best friend and also covered for her when she came home drunk and couldn't watch our kids because she was so drunk by asking for time off from my boss.
She would ask my advice about things and then do the exact opposite of what I advised...many times incurring hardships for our family. I grew increasingly critical of her decisions.
This sounds like a recipe of "why to get a divorce" but it's really not.
I loved my Wife. I wanted our family to succeed. I was willing to weather the bad times to see that. I fell in love with my Wife and no matter how many bad decisions we both ever made...nothing could change that.
I just wish couples looked beyond and could see the big picture. I would be satisfied with my life if I could be in love with a person who saw all my flaws and overlooked them, as I overlooked theirs...and saw the beauty underneath those flaws. Someone who would never forsake me, and me...never forsake them in return.
Be real...at age 65, there are no satisfying 'booty-calls'

I am suprised as I guess I have given this couple too much credit for being together this long. Well neither will find a lasting love because there are not many that stay together. Well I guess there is no such thing as true love anymore. Good luck to both of them and their children.
For the most part most marriages don't last over 10 years. If your marriage lasts mosre than 10 years you have gone past the 90% divorce rate that occurs between 5 and 10 years.
Here is some adive for young people. DONT HAVE BABIES! That way when the marriage goes sour you both walk away and start new lives with no baggage.

I feel a bit guilty about this news. I saw J-Lo in a cafe in the Village a couple of weeks ago. I went up and said hi and was surprised when she asked me to sit down. Stars and a majority of the general public, for that matter, cannot find true love because they have no concept of the seriousness of marriage. Without the belief that marriage is also a binding covenant with God, between the man and the woman (regardless if they speak the words). They cannot then truly put for the effort to make the marriage work. Without God, without fear, without effort, we do what comes naturally to us carnally.

Aren't the kids important? The twins are only three years old. These two should work on repairing the relationship for the sake of the children, and ultimately for the sake of the whole family. Marc already has two slightly older children from his previous marriage. What a mess!

@betty: Always interesting when individuals make comments (negative remarks) about someone's physical appearance. Why don't you post your photo? Easy to sit in front of the computer screen and make nasty comments about another person's looks.
Despite all the negative comments in my opinion, I am really disappointed since I like them both and thought they complimented each other. Marriage truly is a challenge but having the same background and nationality for me the chances of them lasting together seemed higher than most stars. I am sure that it's not easy for anyone to be in the lime light but the most difficult aspect of it all are the children because I am sure that Mami and Papi are the most important things to them. I wish Jennifer and Marc the best in the near future and hopefully they can remain good friends.
