Emily Maynard: Breakup with 'Bachelor' Brad 'heartbreaking'

Emily Maynard opened up on her split from "Bachelor" Brad Womack on last night's episode of "The Bachelorette," telling host Chris Harrison that the breakup is her "worst nightmare."

"I thought if you just loved each other, it would work," Maynard lamented. "My hopes were so high, and I wanted it so bad. It didn't happen, and it's so heartbreaking."

The North Carolina native told Harrison that she hoped that she and her young daughter would move to Texas to be closer to Womack, but that there were too many "red flags" for that to happen. She also expressed frustration at the attention she received from the tabloids and the paparazzi after the show ended.

"Anyone who is on 'The Bachelor' or 'The Bachelorette' should expect that attention," Maynard said. "Once the cameras stopped rolling, you can expect to be followed at the grocery store.  I could barely leave my home with the paparazzi following me."

She added, "I don't want to worry about whether cameramen are in my bushes, or if my private conversations end up in a tabloid."

Maynard said that even though she and Womack are not an item, the two remain in touch, adding that she would "never say a bad word" about the Texan reality star.

Asked by Harrison whether she and Womack's relationship could have succeeded if they hadn't met on a TV show, Maynard admitted that the relationship could have been "easier" in that scenario.

Womack didn't appear on the show, but Harrison told viewers that he "gave his blessing" for Maynard to speak about the split.

I read that Emily is a full time Mom and volunteers at the hospital. Where does she get money from to keep that big house? Seems strange. Did her fiancee leave her a hefty life insurance policy ?

@Sandra Smith Why do you care if we comment on the show negatively or positively? As for Emily I don't think she should be the next Bachelorette. I agree. End this horrible recycling of contestants and get someone new. The show needs new leading faces.

Jealous much? The haters need to get a life. Why do we really care-it did not work. Does not mean that they are horrible people. The fact that media follows someone to the grocery store says a lot about our country. People need to stop buying the trash mag. and they would not have a job. I hope they can both move on and have a normal life. His siblings have that-maybe he can too.

Samantha..His own Family warned her about what they describe as the "Bear" side of him....maybe he isn't gay but lets face it as much as women chase men if there wasn't something wrong with him he would already be married...I am sure she isn't as innocent as she acts or as sweet but he has been on the Bachelor twice to no avail...but I am sure you think George Clooney and Gerard Butler are straight to...LOL

Brad should have chosen Chantel over the vapid, emptyheaded, arm trophy Emily. He was clearly more into the relationship than she was. Sigh...so, how's that debt-ceiling issue going?

I agree that they should stop this cycle of former bachelors and bachelorettes becoming the next in line, and go with somebody new. I am also sure that Emily would be entertaining to watch once she was able to loosen up and take the lead on things.
If Brad and Emily are both strong personalities, maybe it was just normal relationship things that caused them to split. It is difficult to learn how to function with somebody after you have been proficient alone, let alone move halfway across the county and do that under intense media scrutiny. The CNN factor is hard to ignore.

I think she'd make the most boring Bachelorette ever- she's very pretty but that doesn't make for interesting. Hope that doesn't happen. I do feel for her and her daughter with the paparazzi stalking them. Can't be fun- or good for any relationship. He has issues it seems.
Oh well, another reality romance bites the dust.

Oh come on! Emily has doubts? He did chose her isn't that enough? Sounds to me Emily is high maintenance emotionally.

Where does Emily get her money to pay for the fancy clothes and home? Hospital Event Planner must pay a heck of a lot of money!! I feel bad that it didn't work out for the two of them, but come on – you could see from the show there were red flags – Brad is weird, she is insecure, the interview last night was strange – she has a limited vocabulary – and now she wants to be the new Bachelorette – that means leaving her daughter behind for how long? What is ABC thinking?

Her daughter is the grandchild of Rick Hendrick. I'm sure he provides well for them.

I saw red flags all over the place during the Bachelor show. It was obvious she had insecurity issues and was not sure at all about moving to Texas. I was shocked he chose her. Maybe they both need to go to his psychiatrist.

Donnor, if you watched After the Final Rose you will also see that Emily admitted she has a temper. I think that's was the only thing they had in common.

You want a relationship? Get out of your house and go to social settings to find one. Don't go on a reality show to find your love... you might as well just go on eHarmony...
