Jamie Foxx on 'Django': Should be amazing

Quentin Tarantino has a certain signature with his films, and Jamie Foxx says you should expect no less from “Django Unchained.”

The 43-year-old Oscar winner landed the role of the titular character, a freed slave who sets off on a mission to rescue his lady love Broomhilda from a sadistic owner with the help of a German bounty hunter. Tarantino is calling it a “southern” film, according to Time.

Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on as that evil plantation runner Calvin Candie, and Samuel L. Jackson is expected to play his right-hand man, Stephen. Christoph Waltz is reuniting with his "Inglourious Basterds" director to play the bounty hunter, reports Variety, while Kerry Washington, who starred opposite Foxx in "Ray," is reportedly one of the contenders to portray Broomhilda.

Foxx told CNN at the premiere of “Horrible Bosses” last week that this is a story that needs to see the light of a movie theater.

“I think, just to be able to work with Quentin Tarantino and Samuel Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and to be able to tell a story that needs to be told," he said of why he agreed to the role. "If you're a fan of 'Inglorious Basterds,' I mean, you know.. It's just amazing. It should be [an] amazing [thing].”

Jamie Foxx is a great actor. Did you see "Any Given Sunday?" Now who can hold a screen with Al Pacino?!? Before "Any Given Sunday," no one did. After that movie, we found out that Jamie is a prime actor.

I know that whites been slaves outside of the U.S. I know that the Jews(rescued by Moses) were slaves. Jews back then were people of color, slaves in Egypt for as long as the African americans were here. Just about everyone's been in the servitude business one way or the other. I'm sure that this movie is going to be really good.

I can't wait to see what DiCaprio does with his character. The closest he's gotten to a "bad guy" is Danny Archer in Blood Diamond – which is one of my favorite roles he's played. I'm not a Tarantino fan, but I'll be watching this film!

Slavery way outdates the Americans bringing Africans in as slaves...although, our [caucasians, in general] ancestors' treatment of their slaves has gained the most closely scrutinezed version of slavery – perhaps some of you should actually read about the slavery beyond this country's borders pre-dating Christ's birth...

Although I don't put all my faith in Wikipedia "facts", it gives me a starting point ot do more research...so here's a link for all you uneducated fools discussing the fact that it would have to be "made up" to portray "white" people as slaves:

@madhater. Cotton picking would be a wrap. The work is too hard and the thorns are a b!tch! Whites couldn't take the pressure, they'd commit mass suicide and that would defeat the purpose. Peace, I'm out.

When did this become political? stick to the topic people..and yes this movie is shaping up nicely. as for foxx being full of himself: all entertainers are a bit egotistical, so by your logic you should not even watch movies..

You said it Angel Smith. @ madhater. White people can't play slaves? If a mind like Tarantino came up with white people being slaves, it would be a masterpiece, humorous and a short film. Imagine. Mandingo having his way with Mary Sue in the big house as his wife Keisha pretends it's not going on. Mary Sue and husband Billy Bob's kids looking like Halle Berry and Derek Jeter. Sally Mae breast feeding Roshanda's children, and Scarlett burning down the kitchen as she tries to boil eggs!! The most entertaining would be finding the runaways, all sunburned, peeling and being whipped into the next day..... just a thought.

I like some of Tarantino's work, but Inglorious Basterds was lousy.
A very artfully done stinker, no doubt, with rock-sold role performances in it, but overall a stinker nonetheless.
Admittedly, Brad Pitt was the biggest problem, but not the only one.
Pitt was brilliant in Fight Club, but has been on a downhill slope ever since.

So now that Tarantino's focused on those evil Nazis and now evil slavers...I'm hoping his next film will focus on those ignorant Hollywood, Obama loving, simpleton Liberal Democrat whiners.

BLESS YOUR LITTLE DUMB HEART JOE:

f Tarantino is smart he will start working on a movie about OUR WONDERFUL PRESIDENT OBAMA NOW. That will be a BLOCK BUSTER!!! Especially after the PRESIDENT WINS HIS 2ND TERM. I CAN JUST HEAR RUSH, GLENN, & SEAN CRYING NOW!! HMMM, JUST THINKING ABOUT THAT INEVITABLE DAY BRINGS SO MUCH JOY TO MY HEART!!! 🙂

This would be much better WITHOUT Foxx , I can't stand him and he is the most overused black actor in Hollywood right now, I would have preferred Chris Tucker or an unknown black actor. Apparrently Hollywoods' black actor rolodex only contains 4 names.

Foxx seems to think it's a true story by his comments. I hope Tarantino portrays the people selling slaves to Americans as they actually were, black Africans.
