George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis splitFamed bachelor George Clooney is single once again. A rep for the 50-year-old actor confirmed to CNN that he’s split from his girlfriend of two years, 32-year-old Italian actress and personality Elisabetta Canalis. The couple says in a statement, “We are not together anymore. It’s very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy.”
The couple went public with their romance at the Venice Film Festival in 2009, and since then there's been plenty of speculation about the future of their relationship. A wave of Canalis' hand in April of 2010 had some convinced that Clooney popped the question - it was actually a napkin ring she'd placed on her finger as a joke, Clooney's rep said at the time. Earlier this month, chatter circulated that Canalis reportedly told Italian magazine Chi that she was happy with Clooney but did see herself getting married in the future. Last week, the two were seen sharing a meal in Italy, reports People.

you cannot do that in relationships its one day at a time...that girlfriend thought she could change him...he told her no marriage and that was that......gotta give him credit for honesty in relationships if the woman cannot take it then she has too go.

This guy is emotionally abusive. You do not put yourself in the position of risking someone falling in love with you when you know perfectly well that your only going to hurt people over and over again. Rather than keep hurting people if he has no interest in counseling to solve his issues he should stop dating. Look up passive/aggressive men and/or commitment phobia. George Clooney is a walking, talking classic case. Telling people ahead of time you have no interest in commitment or dating and expecting no one to fall in love and want and need more from you is unrealistic and selfish. Unrealistic because no one can control who they fall in love with or stop it once it is happening to them. Selifish because you use them up and spit them out over and over. Don't put them in the position of falling in love with you if you have absolutely no intention of catching them. Plain and simple..

He may not want to get married but he sure seems to NEED a woman in his life all the time, and a younger one at that. I'm 60 and haven't been in a relationship for 14 years. I enjoy my own company. Maybe he needs to learn how to enjoy his own company as well and stop teasing all the younger women on the planet. But then, even when he gets to be 90 he'll still be able to buy young things to hang on his arm. That's the way of our society.

There are some Hollywood couples who don't want to marry but still had/have long term relationships ... Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell, Susan Sarandon/Tim Robbins. Unfortunately with George, it's just going to be a short-term relationship, he likes variety. At least he's honest about it. But silly me, I thought they had a good thing going and that maybe it would last a bit longer.

All power to ya george! When you date a man who has said MANY times he is never getting married why are you surprised when he doesn't marry you? George is a confirmed single for life man he knows what he wants. You never know one day maybe he will meet that women he can't live without but I very much doubt it. So here's a heads up if you date George you may get 2-3 yrs tops with him if you can deal with that date if if you can't move on! So tired of the whining from women about him you know exactly what you are getting into when you date him so get over it already and all you women who bash him for his life style....shut up already!

As soon as I read that Elisabetta said she saw herself getting married in the future I thought – you just blew it! George has always been open and honest with everyone about his decision to never marry again. She new that going in. If that is truly what she wants, George is allowing her to stop wasting her time with him, move on and find someone she can marry. He's just not that guy. Frankly, I think she just gave up a very good thing. He's smart, funny, donates time & $$$ to various charities, and, in my opinion, is very good looking. He may have eventually changed his mind. I'm also one who never wanted to get married and have never met anyone I wanted to marry. I can understand George's views and if Elisabetta wants to be married she's now free to pursue her dream. To each his/her own; I wish them both the best.

He's always made it abundantly clear that he has no intentions of marrying again. That is totally within his rights as a person. Why must he be armchair psychoanalyzed about some imagined faults? The man is, by all appearances, intelligent, witty, caring, and compassionate. He's not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes, as far as his dating life goes. He's honest about it all. If there are women who harbor illusions to the contrary is only fooling herself. I would bet money that he also gives it to them straight at the beginning. If not, all they have to do is pick up People once in a while.
Lay off the man. He doesn't date 20-year olds or anyone age inappropriate. He seems to be a good guy. Settle down, people.

Well, this was predicted & happened right on schedule! Some people just don't want to be married! I don't & I've had a fabulous time being "happily dicorced" for 30yrs! I don't think George is "afraid to get it wrong" or looking for the "perfect relationship"like his parents, I think he just feels his life is fine the way it is! That's how I feel, & I will Never marry again. I don't feel sorry for the girlfriends who think they can change him, he has let the World know where he stands! It also doesn't mean we're gay or bi, hiding in the closet, some people just choose Not to marry! I met George Clooney when he was promoting The Perfect Storm. He was extremely, gracious, kind and smart. I think everyone misunderstands George when it comes to marriage. He was married once before. And since his parents appear to have a wonderful relationship, I sense George simply wants the same. He wants to get it right. And when he can't visualize living with one particular woman for the rest of his life, well then he calls it off. I think more people should think this way. He's probably looking for the right woman the same way women look for the right man. But not enough of us think long and hard before we say "I do!" George does not want to make that mistake again because he doesn't want to go through another divorce. He's a good guy. Am I right, George?

His parents appear to be a wondeful couple and I think that's what George wants. So unless he can visualize being with one woman exclusively, forever, well then, he doesn't marry her. More people should be as careful when choosing their mates.George is simply being wise.
He hasd always been honest and open about his intentions, so any woman who dates him knows this going in. I am speculating that Elisabetta knew this and was not out to change his mind. Not all women are desperate to marry.

@skarrlette Men decide if you are the right one if you aren't out you go. If women had more respect instead of sleeping here and their. All women will make it harder for a man to make that choice. Guys will start thinking I can't get laid whenever I want especially the rich. If women show more compassion a relationship wouldn't fail.
