Could 'The Event' continue on Syfy?

When NBC cleaned house to make room for new programming, newcomer “The Event” was one of the shows that got the ax.

Yet the creator of the sci-fi drama, Nick Wauters, held out hope that “The Event” wouldn’t be out of commission for long. "Alas #theevent will not be back on NBC next season but we r actively pursuing other avenues to keep the show alive," he tweeted. "Stay tuned for more info!"

It looks like his promise may come to pass: Deadline reports that Syfy is talking about running “The Event” as a miniseries.

Before anything happens, it sounds like the network is examining the numbers and figuring out if picking up the project makes financial sense. If it does get picked up, “The Event” could even get another season.

“Event” actor Ian Anthony Dale tweeted on Tuesday, “We are still working hard to find another home for #TheEvent,” before retweeting contact information for Syfy. Wauters has also tweeted news about the possible move to Syfy, “only 2 xpress excitement/hope that we'll find a new outlet 4 #theevent,” he said.

I loved this show. The networks need to learn how not to be too quick to pull the plug when they have a quality show in the process of building an audience.

I must post another comment since I'm so self-important. My little blogging world is all I have.

  3. Really?

That would be a good show to add to Syfy's line up. But Syfy needs to bring back is Stargate Universe! Cant believe they cancelled it!

Luis, Wow, I forgot all about Haven, good show! I really hope syfi picks up Event, another good show. I hate it when you watch all season, get to finale, & cancel. At least have the courtesy to let us see the true ending, instead of leaving us hanging! How rude!

I really enjoyed "The Event" and watched every episode. The show got better and better as time went on. NBC should have given it another season. I really hope Syfy picks it up for another run.

NBC sucks eggs. They got rid of the greatest show ever. I mean, seriously. What were they thinking? I really hope that Syfy picks them up. I enjoy Being Human on Syfy and think it will be a great home for The Event 🙂 *fingers crossed*

This would be great. The Event was an excellent Sci-Fi show that deserves to be continued. May I also suggest looking into picking up "V", another excellent SyFy Show.

The Season finale literally rocked our world. Please continue it. With all the Stargate's runout or cancelled, Battlestar Galactica & Caprica gone, there's little Sci-FI/Fantasy to watch except Sanctuary. Still waiting on Eureka, Haven & Warehouse 13. Alredy tired of the non event ghost shows. Please bring 'The Event' to SYFY!

I watched every hour, and this is too antenna can't receive SyFy. Comcast wants more money for me to subscribe to Expanded Basic, but I can't stand watching SD quality on an HD television. If I want HD cable, Comcast wants me to pay a surcharge on top of the Expanded Basic charge. Maybe if a LOT more programming besides The Event and MNF were available, I might splurge...key word being "might".
