Celebs on Twitter: Who else has been hacked?

For celebrities, communicating with fans is as easy as typing 140 characters and clicking “tweet.” But as these five celeb tweeters would probably tell you, easy access isn’t always a good thing.

After a lewd TwitPic briefly appeared on Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner’s Twitter account over the weekend, he denied sending the photo, saying his account was hacked. On Wednesday, the congressman told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer he hired a law firm to look into the matter - which has been dubbed by the media as “Weinergate.”

Whether Weiner’s account was actually hacked or not remains to be seen, but, for what it’s worth, Donald Trump isn’t buying it. Below, a few celebs who've been hacked:

  • Britney Spears’ Twitter account has been hacked more than once. In June 2009, shortly after Michael Jackson’s death, it was a post that came via TwitPic: “Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come.” Five months later, hackers gained access to Spears’ entire page, replacing her regular background with Illuminati wallpaper and posting tweets like, “I give myself to Lucifer every day for it to arrive as quickly as possible. Glory to Satan!”
  • Lil Wayne’s account was hacked in January, shortly after the rapper served his eight month jail sentence.
  • T.I.’s wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle said her account was hacked in May when threatening tweets were sent from her account to CBSNews and President Barack Obama. There were also derogatory tweets sent to Keyshia Cole, Rihanna, Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj.

I would like to offer additional support to Rep. Weiner. While he is certainly experiencing an explosive fallout regarding this situation, it is perhaps premature as all the facts have not been exposed. The manner I which the media has pursued this story makes it clear they have a bone to pick with him. I urge Rep. Weiner to stiffen his resolve while we get to the bottom of things and encourage him further to launch a deep probe into the incident in order to penetrate the mystery of his hacked account. I am confident that once the facts are known it will soften the blow as Weiner is a Democrat and the man in the picture clearly leans to the right.

although it is a shame that a public official is wasting his time on tweeting, i would like to beleive his acct was haked. i would suspect why is is unwilling to say if that was his pic or not is cause he probably has one of him like it...Somewhere

So many people are on social network sites - it does not matter if you are celebrity, or political –people want to communicate any way they can. maybe Weiner's account was hacked - he has to be honest about this. Maybe one day he may want to run for mayor of NYC - he does not need "WeinerGate" to follow him around

Illuminati is a proper noun, used to either denote the actual historic group or the games based off the concepts derived.
