'Idol's' Scotty and Lauren: We're not dating

There may have been plenty of PDA at the "American Idol" finale Wednesday night, but winner and runner up Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina insist that they are just besties.

"We're just really good friends. We really care about each other," 16-year-old Alaina told Us Weekly. "Everyone wants us to like each other, but we just don't."

The teens sent the rumor mill into overdrive when Alaina laid a big kiss on 17-year-old McCreery after he beat her out for the title. She then kissed his face repeatedly as the show's credits rolled.

Record-breaking talent on 'SYTYCD'

What can you say about Thursday night's season premiere of "So You Think You Can Dance" other than, "wow?"

The Atlanta auditions exploded right out of the gate with Bianka Hinklerian's ballroom routine, which could best be described as watching a human firecracker. It was a little odd that she only got sent through to choreography, but thankfully she made it through to the Las Vegas callbacks.

That wasn't true, however, of so many dancers who showed their stuff in Atlanta. For one after another (after another), judge Nigel Lythgoe had a ticket to Vegas waiting for them.

Kara DioGuardi: I tripped out on brownies at Paula Abdul's house

Beware of the baked goods at Paula Abdul's house. That's the lesson Kara DioGuardi learned several years ago after a simple case of the munchies landed her in the hospital.

During a recent appearance on "Lopez Tonight," DioGuardi said she was house-sitting for a vacationing Abdul and decided to have a snack. "The maid at the time found these brownies in the freezer," she recalled. "She took them out, put them in the refrigerator, and I hadn't really eaten much that night... They were these little nuggets, little, you know? I take six, not a lot."

Six hours later, "I was like, 'Hey, what’s going on?'" remembered the host of Bravo's upcoming "Platinum Hit." "I fell out of bed, on the floor and stumbled down stairs... and the ambulance comes, and this guy is like, 'This b— is high as a kite!"'

'Oprah' finale gets highest rating in 17 years

It’s still a little early to calculate how many millions of people tuned in to Oprah Winfrey’s finale show on Wednesday, but overnight ratings are showing an impressive number.

According to AdWeek, Winfrey’s farewell “love letter” to her viewers was the highest-rated “Oprah Winfrey Show” in 17 years with an overnight household rating of 13.3 – and it doesn’t take into account households in the St. Louis market, since the show was pre-empted there for storm coverage.

Entertainment Weekly adds that the overnight rating is 130 percent higher than Winfrey’s average rating, and that such an achievement hadn’t been marked since Winfrey’s February 21, 1994 episode entitled, “People Shed Their Disguises.”
