Stephen King's 'Carrie' to get a remake

Stephen King's horror classic "Carrie" is getting a remake, courtesy of someone who knows a thing or two about teen angst.

Playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who told the story of high-school student turned hero Peter Parker in the Broadway musical "Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark," has just been hired to revamp King's tale of telekinetic teen Carrie, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

King's debut novel was initially adapted into a 1976 movie starring Sissy Spacek as a bullied girl who wreaks revenge at her prom. The book also spawned a 1999 sequel, a stage musical, and a 2002 TV movie.

Besides "Carrie," Aguirre-Sacasa has another school-themed project in the works. Deadline reports that he'll also become a writer on "Glee" next season. McKinley High's senior prom should be a bloody good time!

At lunch time I go to my daddys car. He pulls out my Pet Peter and has me kiss it. Then he pushes my head up and down until the candy cream spews into my mouth. Then lunchtime is over.

YES please Holliwood come up with some new stuff. I know there are good, clever, witty, brilliant writers out there, start using some of them!! I love Stephan King's work, but when they try to do his movies they suck. They never follow the story line well and it comes of lame or not making any sense. Carrie was one of the few movies from his books that they did a decent job on~ the original movie not all the dumb remakes. Why don't they ask Stephen to write a screen play of something new and awesome???

  15. Come On

    it doesn't need a revamping.
If hollywood want to remake stuff cause they are too cheap to find writers with original ideas than remake the shows/movies that were crap to begin with
King shouldnt allow this to go on.

& I guess since hes gonna be a writer for Glee we already know how this remake will turn out.
I really hope instead of pigs blood @ the dance they will all start dancing and singing to some over popularized/over played radio hit

In this remake, suspended above the stage should about 17 high school students with their butts hanging over the rafters. On the mark, instead of the bucket tipping the students should begin releasing a torrent of HOT doodee chuncks, logs, pieces, steamers, butt pickles, rockets, muffins and the like. What a STINNKEE-ING GOOD TIME!!!

They already remade it about 3 or 4 years ago. They callrd it something different but it was almost the smae movie – or something very similar. Gosh we are tired of remakes. I mean gosh. Every day we hear this or that is going to be remade.

Seriously, think of something on their own, or help out a up and coming young writer? Hit the Independent circuit? Heck no! It's the easy way for us!

The only reason we suffer thru so many (and sadly, lacking) movie remakes is because Hollywood is deathly afraid of a poorly performing film. Movies are ridiculously expensive and to make these days and Hollywood wants to make sure it counts. Hollywood only wants to "create" what will guarantee a return on the investment. Sure we get to see glittery reimaginations of classic cinema but a bevy of awesome concepts never see the light of day because studios are afraid they won't join the box office billionaire's club. Think about it... when was the last time you saw a movie in theaters that wasn't a remake or and adaptation of a hugely popular book series, videocame, graphic novel or Disney Theme Park attraction?

Hollywood ran out of ideas a long time ago. But there stupid to keep on doing remakes instead of going back to the same writers who are probably old and dont have anymore ideas and are out of touch on what kids and the auidance likes. The should get rid of them all and hire some college kids who have fresh and new ideas. And hollywood wonders why dvd sales are down? I wonder. Stupid remakes
