Fox banks on 'X Factor' and comediesIt's no surprise that Fox is counting on "The X Factor" to bring in big audiences when it debuts later this year. "Our goal is to achieve the same incredible level of success and fandom and spectacle the 'X Factor' gets in the U.K," said Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly during the conference call announcing the network's line-up for next season. "By the way," he went on, "'The X Factor' in the U.K. was a 45 share and its finale did a 55 share and we will settle for nothing less. I'm getting some laughs on this end with that."
While it may be pie in the sky to anticipate having more than half the people watching television being tuned in to "X Factor," Fox clearly has big expectations for the new singing competition. So much so that chairman of entertainment for Fox Networks Group, Peter Rice, said he's not worried about being viewed as a clone to the so-far very successful NBC singing competition "The Voice." “We feel like that we have the gold standard in both 'Idol' and 'X Factor,'” Rice said. "'Idol' has been the No. 1 show for many seasons now and it's been rejuvenated this year. There’s an excitement and a buzz around ['X Factor'] that we’ve never seen before. We had more people show up for the audition than we ever had show up for ' Idol.'” The executives also answered questions about "Idol," whose numbers are up this year. They are in talks, they said, to bring back judge Jennifer Lopez for next season. Unlike fellows judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, who have multi-year contracts, Lopez was only signed on for a year. Fox entertainment president Reilly said Fox will continue to build on the success of their Tuesday comedy block, which currently features "Glee" and "Raising Hope," with new half-hour comedies "New Girl" starring Zooey Deschanel and "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" created by Liz Meriwether. There will also be two new animated shows: "Allen Gregory," about a pretentious 7-year-old and voiced by "Get Him to the Greek" star Jonah Hill, and "Napoleon Dynamite," which is based on the hit film. The latter will appear as a midseason show and the movie's original cast will all voice their roles. There will also be four new dramas: the eagerly awaited prehistoric/futuristic "Terra Nova" from executive producer Steven Spielberg; "Bones" spinoff "The Finder;" a new JJ Abrams series "Alcatraz;" and "Touch," starring "24" actor Kiefer Sutherland. Long-running series "America's Most Wanted" will move to quarterly specials instead of a series. The following is the Fox fall primetime line-up (new shows in bold): Monday 8:00 p.m. - Terra Nova 9:00 p.m. - House Tuesday 8:00 p.m. - Glee 9:00 p.m. - New Girl 9:30 p.m. - Raising Hope Wednesday 8:00 p.m. - The X Factor (performance show) 9:30 p.m. - I Hate My Teenage Daughter Thursday 8:00 p.m. - The X Factor (results show) 9:00 p.m. - Bones Friday 8:00 p.m. - Kitchen Nightmares 9:00 p.m. - Fringe Saturday 8:00 p.m. - Cops 8:30 p.m. - Cops 9:00 p.m. - Encores/America's Most Wanted (specials) Sunday 7:00 p.m. - The OT (NFL post-game) 7:30 p.m. - The Cleveland Show 8:00 p.m. - The Simpsons 8:30 p.m. - Allen Gregory 9:00 p.m. - Family Guy 9:30 p.m. - American Dad Fox's midseason 2012 primetime line-up (new shows in bold): Monday 8:00 p.m. - House 9:00 p.m. - Alcatraz Tuesday 8:00 p.m. - Glee 9:00 p.m. - New Girl 9:30 p.m. - Raising Hope Wednesday 8:00 p.m. - American Idol (performance show) 9:30 p.m. - I Hate My Teenage Daughter Thursday 8:00 p.m. - American Idol (results show) 9:00 p.m. - The Finder/Bones (spring) Friday 8:00 p.m. - Kitchen Nightmares 9:00 p.m. - Fringe Saturday 8:00 p.m. - Cops 8:30 p.m. - Cops 9:00 p.m. - Encores/America's Most Wanted (specials) Sunday 7:00 p.m. - Animation Domination (encores) 7:30 p.m. - The Cleveland Show 8:00 p.m. - The Simpsons 8:30 p.m. - Napoleon Dynamite 9:00 p.m. - Family Guy 9:30 p.m. - Bob's Burgers |

I take pleasure in, lead to I discovered exactly what I used to be having a look for. You've ended my four day lengthy hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day. Bye
Thanks kindly. Keep it up.
Fox sucks and doesn't have a single good show on anymore. Bring back Married with Children and MadTV, Familty Guy is OK, Yeah FOX had good shows on 20 years ago, American Idol and Glee suck
I'm disappointed that an engaging show such as "Lie To Me" is not returning to the Fox lineup. The more dumbed-down a show gets, the more likely it is to be watched by the American viewer....
Family guy is the only thing i watch on fox anyway unless the 49ers playing on fox
I ate spaghetti at olive garden and feel fat.unliminated!
FOX should bring back Married With Children and The Tracey Ullman Show. Also 21 Jump Street. They had good stuff on 20 years ago.
"But my lips hurt real bad!"
Napoleon on a Fox cartoon will probably suck, but it could work...
"Heck yes I'd vote for you, you're like the only guy in school with a mustache."
Hmm, I'll have to tune in. Love the pic posted– I can tell who everyone is from the movie.
Add fox to the endangered list
Napoleon Dynamite cartoon? If you say so fox.

""We had more people show up for the audition than we ever had show up for ' Idol.'”""
I wonder if that has anything to do with the more chances for others....like the groups & over 25s (however the states is doing it) =/
Its not rocket science to figure out why more have shown up for the X Factor.
These shows sound fudgetastic ! I bet the homers are going to be excited ! A show about bones plus GLEE ! Them homers like them bones !
I likes me them girls wearing magic invisible undergatments. And magic bikinis too ! Good idea Mormon our friend ! : )
Me too Mormon. I hope they are wearing magic bikinis.
