Trump receives backlash for 'stutterer' comment

It seems Donald Trump failed to see the humor in some of the jokes made about him at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday.

While he may have taken President Obama’s one-liners with stride, the tides turned when “SNL’s” Seth Meyers took the stage.

“Donald Trump has been saying that he’ll run for president as a Republican,” said Meyers, “which is surprising, since I just assumed he was running as a joke.” And that was only the beginning.

The next morning, Trump talked with the hosts of “Fox and Friends," and had this to say about the comedian: “I thought Seth Meyers, frankly, his delivery was not good. He’s a stutterer and he really was having a hard time.”

Now he’s in hot water with the Stuttering Foundation.

“Shame on you, Mr. Trump,” said the foundation's president, Jane Fraser. “We at the Stuttering Foundation find it discouraging that in 2011, Donald Trump has chosen to use the word 'stutterer' in a derogatory fashion, something to be made fun of, to describe Seth Meyers' speech at the annual White House Correspondents' dinner.”

What controversy will The Donald be a part of next?

You actually make it appear really easy with your presentation but I to find this topic to be really something which I feel I'd never understand. It sort of feels too complicated and very large for me. I'm taking a look ahead for your next post, I'll attempt to get the hang of it!

This whole thing reminds me of playground fights at kindergarten recess. Trump, Palin, and the republicans who want to replace President Obama are just not desirable in any way. None of them are "presidential". And their along with Fox New's absurd attempt to credit George 'NUCULER' Bush with the elimination of bin Laden shows two thing: 1) their all grasping at straws, and 2) how incredibly stupid they think most Americans are. To the republicans: find someone we can take seriously, ok?

Trump can't take the heat. He can sure dish it out though, like a pro. He is nothing but an ill-tempered spoiled brat. I can't imagine the horror of the things that would come out of his mouth if by some travesty he were ever to be elected president, and had to deal with controversial internation issues. We would be at war instantly!

He's a useless, rich bully and should just keep his day job as a reality tv bore. Then I can simply turn him off at will.

As a stutterer, I am only mildly offended, but only because Trump isn't exactly what I'd consider a serious person, despite all pretenses he puts forth. it is all a ratings grab for him, this whole circus, which he's winning that but he's also winning many enemies who will dislike him for political reasons instead of just because his is only a media darlin' reality star and real estate mogul of dubious success.

Also...I didn't hear much stuttering. I have only heard clips (and what I heard was pretty funny, in my opinion) but i didn't hear stuttering as I know it

Amazing. Political correctness at its worst.

We are ALL flawed in some way. Stutterers stutter and their delivery STINKS !! I am not a Trump fan, but this is ridiculous.

If they continue to attack him and give him all this air/print time for everything he says, he may actually BE the candidate for the republicans.

And Obama will get eaten alive in a debate dealing with economics since he is clueless and Trump is a savvy entrepreneur.

So, keep trashing Trump and see what that will get you. He does not need your money to run a campaign and he cares little what you think about him. He will run to change America to his vision and it will include the creation of jobs here and not in China.

I may not vote for him but, many without one, will.

It's somewhat amusing to watch Trump go from Hero to Zero in the course of about 7 days. Last Wednesday he thought he was the new King... then Obama released his real, live, super-duper actual birth certificate (AGAIN), and this took Trump down a notch or two. By Friday night at the Coorospondence Dinner he had a few more chinks in his armour, and by late Sunday night his "Birth Certificate" nonsense couldn't have been seen as more childish & pathetic as Obama announced to the world that he was busy working with a Seal Team to track & kill Bin Laden while Trump yapped on about Birth Certificates.

I'll take a stutterer with a brain over Trump ANY DAY.

If Seth Meyers' delivery was poor due to his speech, while it may be in poor taste to point out that he is a stutterer, it would be true.

However, I listened to the entire 20 minute segment by Seth Meyers. I only caught one or two blocks and they were no worse than a fluent person's speech. Trump's comments were completely unwarranted. He is a curmudgeon.

Do we really want someone as petty and even so amateurish in his pettiness to be our president? There is a huge difference between being sharp tongued and quick witted... and just attacking any unrelated perceived weakness with juvenile attacks like this... and then, of course there is all the difference in the world between being classy and mature and serious-minded enough to not really care about such jabs... and coming out with a petty insult every time someone mentions your name.

Trump won't run for President. He can't face any significant derision without resorting to knee jerk responses. He thought Seth Meyer's delivery was bad because Meyer was delivering an enormous smack down of Trump. Trump also knows that as much as he likes to refer to Obama as the worst U.S. President in history, Trump would "trump" that claim should he be elected. And The Donald can not live with that idea.

Brilliance! The side show that is Trump is digging himself an even deeper grave! You'd think, assumeing his announcements for running as a candidate are true, that one would have the sense to at least hire a pr consultant to review remarks and possible remarks before he makes them. It's really not that hard. Just make a list of possible questions and such and make a list of responses to those questions. It'll help a lot. What he should have said was, "his delivery was a bit weak and he should have rehersed a little more." See? No big flap there.

The teapartycans worship anyone who has money. They pray at the altar of trickle-down because it has been written that someday it just might get down to them.

Donald "The Chump" is nothing more than an insecure foul mouth bully. He thinks he can say whatever he believes and it will be OK because he is wealthy. That is the problem with our country today. The "HAVES" feel they are free to say whatever they choose about the "Little People" and no one will would be offended and it's OK even if we are because we are only the "Little People" anyway. If this fool wishes to be elected President, he had best find a dumb planet to do it on because there are not enough stupid people on this planet to elect him.

I love that the President cut into "the donalds" (lowercase intended) "reality" television show with the news of BinLaden's death. The President tried to explain to him that there are more important things for him to deal with, but we could tell the donald didn't learn that lesson because when faced with the reality of the birth certificate in that hangar the other day, he attacked the realiity of his academic achievements.
I figure the donald equates it to The President winning the night's rating wars, because the next morning, he officially through his hat (or hair?) into the ring.
Can you picture his inner cabinet? I can see Glen Beck wheeling his chalkboard into the Oval Office, with Limbaugh right behind him.
    Can Cheney be VP again?

I heard he called the President to congratulate him on the Obama got Osama episode and offered a "truce." A truce? He was the one doing the bullying, barking, yelping, shouting, blabbering, lying, and now that it's starting to backfire on him. He wants a truce?

Trump doesn't have the character to even understand what it would take to make a truce, let alone the strength of character to keep one.

Yes. He's Sarah Palin, but with money (at least, right now he does...).

Still waiting to see Trump release his tax forms and long form birth certificate.

The look on his face during Obama's speech said it all. Trump is nowhere near Obama's league. Obama waited patiently (patience–something Trump lacks) for the perfectly timed moment to respond to Trump's classless, blowhard tactics of the past few weeks. Obama did it on his own terms, and on a stage of his own choosing. And Obama blew Trump out of the water. Priceless.

"Palin Hope"– You're missing the point. The focus here is not on jokes about the SNL troupe. (Whoever they are these days, I wouldn't know, in case you were going to put me in that "group" you're so snotty about.) The point is that Trump insulted a group of people with a particular disability, in order to make a joke about a comedian he didn't like.

Regarding being able to take criticism, Trump is the thin-skinned doofus, unable to laugh at himself. He's a weak, loud-mouthed jerk – and a liar. Where are his tax records?!?

Donald Trump is an embarrassment to real conservatives. I am very reluctant to defend him, Palin, or nearly any of the folks the GOP tries to pass off as conservative. However, Trump simply said that Seth Myers delivery was poor, because he stutters. How is that offensive? Would it offend quadriplegics if someone pointed out that they aren't good swimmers? I think people are just looking for things to be offended by. People with speech impediments make poor public speakers, blind people are lousy drivers, and no amount of political correctness will change that.
