Did Jaden Smith earn $3 million for 'Karate Kid'?So much for an allowance! Twelve-year-old Jaden Smith—son of Will and Jada—reportedly earned seven figures for his breakout role in the 2010 blockbuster "The Karate Kid." Celebrity news site TMZ claims to have obtained Smith's 2009 contract for the action flick, which shows that he was paid $1 million up front to headline the movie. As part of his deal, the pre-teen also received a $2 million bonus after the film became a blockbuster, taking in $176.6 million domestically and $359.1 million worldwide. That brings Smith's tally to $3 million, although TMZ believes he made even more dough thanks to additional in-contract perks and the movie's international success.

Whatever the kid earned, he sure wasn't worth it. I saw him in the Karate Kid and he can't act and when he was in a scene there was a hole there, right on the screen. Check him out and laugh!

I think it's great! In the scheme of things, what's $3 mil out of over $350 million? I saw the movie and thought he did a great acting job – and nothing wrong with Will helping his son get started. No different, in my opinion, than any other dad helping their child get started in the family biz.

He wants to be like his dad. I've seen law firms that consist of father and sons. Nothing is wrong with wanting to be like your parents especially if you are proud of their accomplishments.
