Bon Jovi supports Richie Sambora

The band Bon Jovi is not commenting on reports that their guitarist Richie Sambora has left their tour to check into rehab, but they are offering him good wishes.

"Our support for Richie is absolute. He is, and will remain, a member of Bon Jovi," the band said in a statement. "Although he will be absent from upcoming shows for the time being, we very much look forward to his healthy return. In the meantime, we will keep our commitment to our fans and continue our tour."

Bon Jovi has multiple tour dates coming up in the states and abroad.

Just saw the show last night in Houston. No, Richie wasn't there and he was certainly missed. But, the kid they have filling in did a great job (He's from Houston, so there was a home-coming for him of sorts). The show was fantastic. Jon was up and pumped, and the music was spot on. I did miss the playfullness that JBJ and Richie have together. But the show went on, and I didn't feel I had wasted my money in the slightest.

The show must go on and I think any fan with half a brain would understand that. These dates were booked months ago (with contracts) and put on sale not long after that, there are people around the world waiting for this show and canceling isn't an option. Understand that the Bon Jovi organization employs around 200 people, you can't derail everything for one guy. Look back at Jovi's tour history, this is a working band that goes to all lengths to meet their commitments.

To the ones being childish saying that John and Richie are smoochers and all that.... GROW UP!!! And it is dificult to just cancel shows as some mentioned people do come from all over. i have been to a few concerts of theirs and people have come from canada and all over the US so you just can"t cancel when they have made all these plans that cost big bucks! I give the band a lot of credit to go on with out there lead guitarist ,either way it is not an easy decision. They are a great performing band and just the kind of band that can pull it off. Richie all the best, get well soon and come back please!!! 🙂

With a band as big as this one and a tour as massive as this tour, with fans traveling from all over the world, it would have been horrible for JBJ to cancel or reschedule! Airline tickets–rental cars–hotels = big $$ bucks $$ and many, many angry fans!

  29. peacemonger supportive that they are continuing their tour without Richie even though he's the number 2 man in that band...I guess there's basically too much dough rapped up in the whole thing. The show and the business must go on...especially for Bon Jovi. Its all about the bottom line for this band.

I agree that all shows be postponed until Richie finishes his rehab stay. Tickets can be refunded. Concerts can be rescheduled. Happens all the time in this industry so its not that big of a problem. Would not be fair to fans and ticket holders to continue the venue with a replacement or without Sambora. Fans want the whole/real Bon Jovi. Rehab is important for him to get well. Cannot be postponed. Hope they make a decision that satisfies all the fans. Get well Richie! Been listening to you for 30 yrs now!

Nat75. You make good points. But bands must have some form of insurance for things like these? As for the fans travelling I think that that is minimal compared to the fans who want to see the full band and not just half of the creative force. I know it would be a nightmare to reschedule with the venues but it's just not right for the fans.

Montreal, let me see if I have this right. You feel it's perfectly fine for me to lose $800.00 in airfare, $350.00 in non-refundable hotel costs and the aggravation of trying to reschedule vacation time, however you feel it's unacceptable that you've spent $150.00 (maximum) on a concert ticket that will still allow you see the band, albiet minus one member. Yep, that's logic!!

Here's a newflash for you...50% of the people in the pit have spent the same kind of money I have and travelled long distances to be there.

This is a rip-off. Why JBJ decided to carry on is beyond me. Should have postponed the tour. Jagger-Richards, Bono-Edge, Bon Jovi-Sambora. I come to the the band not just JBJ. Sucks big time – disappointed with JBJ. And to Richie, all the best buddy. Get well.

it isnt easy to just cancel or postpone a tour, lots of fans come to concerts from all over, they have tickets airline tickets sometimes,etc...there are a lot of people who work with bon jovi, not just the band members. if they postpone some fans will be upset if they dont others will be upset. there isnt an easy answer.
