Beyonce releases video to battle childhood obesity

Beyonce wants you to "Move Your Body."

The singer has remixed her song "Get Me Bodied" as part of First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign. The campaign was developed to deal with the epidemic of childhood obesity with the goal of ending it within a generation.

Beyonce reminded us a bit of  Olivia Newton John back in the day as Mrs. Jay-Z gets physical with a group of youngsters in a school cafeteria. Instead of John's colorful leg warmers, Beyonce rocks bright green knee high socks while she leads the kids through an exercise/dance routine. Check out the video:

I think it's wonderful that Beyonce has done this video to encourge obese children to get up and move!! She is an icon and I think young kids would respond to this. Way to go Bey!

All you postive posters are correct. In fact they should shelve the video idea as no doubt when these fat kids just hear of Beyonce and her aerobic ways there is no doubt they will put down the shovel.

Yes B and the First Craphole, Michelle have done an outstanding job. Perhaps they could next tackle intergalactic travel.

I honestly like what she's doing. Beyonce' is a very inspirational individual and when kids see this they are going to want to either learn the dance or just dance regularly to it. The only way to truly fight child obesity is for the parents to teach their children about healthy eating habits.

Also, you can put p0rn in front of kids and they will love it. If this is part of Obama's initiative then she should have been more respectful and dressed appropriately. He deals with enough problems as it is.

I dont think she is dressed appropriately for a kid's video. I myself am very young but I think this was done more to promote an album than actually inspire kids. if she was serious about children's fitness she should have at least wore a bra and sneakers.

This is a fabulous step in the right direction to help with the childhood obesity epidemic and Beyonce should be commended for her incredible work, here. In addition, let's also start helping kids (and adults) learn the behavioral aspects to their obesity. In addition to teaching them about diet and exercise, kids need to learn WHY they are over-eating. The stressors, feelings, unhealthy coping skills, and (in some cases) depression or anxiety that feeds their obesity. "It's time to get kids talking about it" Great first step, though! Brava!

Kat is correct. The goal is for kids to dance along and they will. Thanks to the First Lady for developing the project. Thanks to Beyonce for getting on board. My kids and their friends are already dancing to this video.

I have to agree with Kat above, I think kids will more likely try to get up and mimic this routine. I think anything positive is going in the right direction. Good for Beyonce, I hope this goes to schools and the kids learn it and have fun.

to 'sure thing' and '@N', the goal of this video is to recreate what Beyonce's previous videos like Single Ladies have done. Kids, well really anyone, will most likely try to learn this choreography for themselves & then make a video to upload to youtube like millions did with Single Ladies. So no, they will not just sit on the couch & watch. It will make them dance for sure, whether they get the entire routine down perfectly or simply jump around their room. Which is better than what the two of you are doing; sitting on YOUR behinds while posting negative & ignorant comments about a woman who is actually DOING SOMETHING to improve the health of our children. What have YOU done to help stop this epidemic? oh ok.

"What have YOU done to help stop this epidemic?"

I havent done nothing. Why? cause my kids arent fat.
It isnt my problem if other peoples kids are fat.

      1. Then you have no room to comment on anything someone else is doing regarding this issue.
      2. Just as I suspected, you are IGNORANT.

@sure thing is right on. Fat kids are fat because their parents let them eat bacon and ice cream and deep fried gravy while sitting on their lazy duffs. Same parents who gorge themselves on may0nnaise balls and chocolate covered French fries while complaining about their thyroid condition.

ok, so shouldn't something be done to combat this? like.... I don't know.... maybe getting someone to encourage kids to be more physically active..... since obviously their parents aren't doing a good job of it, so you say.
