'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: Will Kate always be compared to Diana? We’ve got a big "Showbiz Tonight" special event today: An unbelievable inside look at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, and we're curious if Kate will always be compared to Princess Diana. I know there's no doubt that William's late mother, who was known as "The People's Princess," left some huge shoes for Kate to fill. And from the moment Kate and William became engaged, people have been - fairly or unfairly - comparing Kate to Princess Diana. I think over time those comparisons will stop. Kate is her own independent person. And she's ten years older than Diana was when she took her fairytale walk down the aisle in her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles.
I've watched Kate deal with all this crazy worldwide attention (and the Diana comparisons) with poise and class. And as she becomes Princess Kate, I know she will eventually distinguish herself from Diana. On our special today, we’ll look at what Kate can learn from Diana, the shocking revelations about how the paparazzi have chased Kate and the explosive story about why Kate and Prince William almost didn’t end up together. HLN’s royal wedding contributor – and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star - Lisa Vanderpump will also help me pick out what to wear while I cover the royal wedding. You have got to see her fashion “do’s” and “don’ts”! See you today live at 5 p.m. ET/PT and again at 11 p.m. ET/PT on HLN. Starting Monday, I’ll be in London covering all the breaking royal wedding news. Be sure to follow @showbiztonight on Twitter next week for all my big wedding updates from across the pond! Watch Showbiz Tonight Weekdays Exclusively at 11PM ET on HLN. |

Aw ... come on everyone, and stop the bad tongue wagging. I am a half Brit, and I think Brooke Anderson of HLN did a fantastic job, and even went the extra mile learning about tea time. The BBC had that ticker at the bottom, and I had a rather hard time trying to watch the Royal Wedding, no thanks to a Best Buy technician. So, I had no luck trying to tape this historical event as I did with Princess Diana, but I did notice that William nervously bit his lower lip the same way Diana did.
However, please remember that this wedding was about William and Catherine, and the love they share for one
another. And, what is wrong with that? Nothing at all. So, God Bless them. I thought everything was fantastic – the
uniform of the groom, the beautiful bride and their shared nervous excitement. The smile on the Queen's face as she looked at her Grandson and his bride, and the smile stayed with her during the ride back to Buckingham palace. She too looked radiant in her attire.
What a fantastc wedding to welcome in the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge.
God save the Queen, and God Bless America
@ Rachel
You need to chill before the US gives UK another beating. US maybe doing bad at the moment, but we are still here. and brush your teeth!
I wonder if at the reception with they feed one another logs of the Royal Doo Doo?
BTW Rachel, You bad mouth Americans, but I'll bet you Brit's (if you really are) don't mind all the tourists there this week spending their hard earned American $, right???
Why dost he media keep F talking about this wedding? I am sorry but I don't give S about Kate or WIlliam I just don't and I wish I didn't have to keep seeing one article after another about this crap!!!!!!!!!!!
I want Prince William to spill his royal jelly into my mouth.
I am proud of Kate Middleton, she will be a wonderful Queen one day.
I am proud of the Royal family and the British people.
Cannot wait for the Wedding ceremony.
TOUCH MY LESBIAN N@KED BODY KATE!YEAH UP THE POOP SHOOT!YEAH GIRL THATS THE STUFF!KISS ME KATE!
@ Rachel, Really now, was all that really neccesary ?
she sometimes may lik to get the attention.
Ms. kate will always be our hero and inspiration.
She sure is prettier. Mmmmmm
Wow mother to young girl dats not a good way to compare!
I think Kate is a strong enough person to handle the press. But why would she be compared to his mother? Everyone is acting like Diana was his ex wife or something. She was his mother for Christ sake, not some old ex girlfriend. The things people say/think never cease to amaze me.
dude u already said the poop joke!!!or maybe it was someone else.
it's boring, get to this http://www.SUPERSONIC.US.COM
There IS no comparison
Why are the Americans so obsessed with our Royals Family and the wedding? As a Brit It's so embarrassing to watch these tacky HLN and every channel showbiz hosts who are either making fun of our accents or filling the airwaves with Hollywood Drama. You can take credit for starting the War, Kennedys. and Hollywood, but please go away American media. Your President won't be there, but Canadian, Australian and all British colonies will be.
Your the brunt of all our jokes. "Mayber Americans could buy a Royal Hollywood Family
She is going to be compared to Princess Diana for a while, no doubt. I hope it doesn't drive her crazy though.
Hopefully, once all the hype has died down, people will see that she's a very different person from Diana and will accept her for who she is. I think Will and Kate have a much better chance of having a happy marriage and that in itself will make her different, not an object of pity.
Duh. Of course she's going to be compared to Princess Di.
Why compare her to Princess Di ? She's not marrying Prince Charles. Compare Carmilla, not Princess Di's daughter-in-law, ya know ? Just my POV.
I will be waiting at the "end of the line" for the royal doo doo so I might smear it all over myself.
Who care what the royals do? I'm just not into it. Some girls dream of a huge wedding like this, only to have to settle for reality.
I must tell you, CNN, that this column is a perfect example of a topic that is good.....
FOR ME TO POOP ON!
If Kate dies I wonder if she will join Princess Diana in HELL?
