Ricki Lake's returning to daytime TVOprah Winfrey's on her way out, but talk show vet Ricki Lake is making the move back to daytime. According to Broadcasting & Cable, Lake is officially developing an hour-long talk program with Twentieth Television. While her old show, which was distributed by Sony Entertainment and aired from 1993-2004, was aimed at younger women, Lake is now thinking more broadly. B&C reports that the 42-year-old single mom will cover topics like family, marriage, parenting, divorce, weight-loss, health and nutrition. Twentieth Television is gearing up for a fall 2012 debut on broadcast stations, cable networks or some combination of both. Lake said in a statement that it’s "been very fulfilling for the past seven years to focus my energy on advocacy work on behalf families and children.” Nonetheless, she’s “excited to return to my roots and work with Twentieth Television to develop a talk show that will give me an opportunity to share my experiences and reconnect with audiences.”

when i first heard it i was excited. never mind the haters Ricki was fun and the show was never boring (like some) *snorts* if i must say so myself.......glad she's coming back, can't wait. go ricki, go ricki, go ricki.
For all of you screaming "Not One More Talk Show..." If you weren't sitting around on your lazy a$$'s, you wouldn't know how many Talk Shows really exist... So there for there would be no reason for you to even make that statement. Anyways... To each his own. ... Just sayin'.

Ricki is awesome and her old show was fun! It was Ricki keeping up with buckwild New Yorkers like Wendy does now. We saw her through 2 pregnancies and good show reveals. Her audience has grown as she has, so why not come back!? Go Ricki!

I hope her show format is different - she was so Jerry Springer on her old show, completely unlikeable; she had no real empathy for her guests, she just wanted a story. Oprah and Phil Donahue had that and that is why they are icons and lasted so long. Dr. Oz is the same way and look at how on every show the women want to hug him.
Nice to see Ricki has kept the weight off – she looks great.

OMG, another talk show host???? They are so boring. Meanwhile, ABC has cancelled AMC & OLTL only to bring back a 2 hour segment with yet another food program. There isn't anything new that a talk show host or hostess can cover....it's all been done. Perhaps it's the way they spin the story....who knows, I won't be watching it.
I don't watch talk shows , but I hate HATE Oprah. She is so condescending to everyone she talks to. ("People, please welcome....") She pats their hands while she counts in her head all the money this poor sap is making for her at the moment, she makes goo-goo eyes and wierd faces. I don't kbnow why people ever liked her and keep watching her. I can't wait for her to go AWAY!! I remember Ricky Lake being very nice (genuinely nice). At least Ricky is pretty.

I see the dilemma of these production/idea people. Ricki had her own show before, and it tanked. Not necessarily because Rikki was a bad host or anything (she actually seems pretty personable and caring and such), but because the production/idea people put her out there on a bad execution platform. Sorta like Ricki Lake before Steve Wilkos. Ricki actually has a good element and atmosphere to thrive in without having to worry about being the next Oprah any more than Ellen DeGeneris needs to worry about being the next Oprah. In Hollywood, you're only as good as your people.

Yes she was married and has 2 sons from that marriage. She got divorced and went on to date her trainer. She was in the news last year when her house burnt down in Malibu. I should know because I keep up with all this 🙂

Ricki Lake made a living out of saying those kinds of things about other people. Her first show was very judgmental when it came to guests or anyone really whose opinion was different from hers and the people who agreed with her. When you treat people like that it comes back on you – with interest . Ricki has not only had this coming – she asked for it.
