Fans campaign to send M. Night Shyamalan to film schoolIf you've been disappointed with the movies M. Night Shyamalan has turned out ever since his 1999 blockbuster "The Sixth Sense," you're not alone. Three former fans have launched a campaign to send the Razzie winner back to film school. According to PopEater, author/copywriter Chris Baker and his two pals are trying to raise $150,000 to help Shyamalan become a better filmmaker. Baker got the idea when he saw a trailer for "Devil" last year and the audience laughed at the phrase "From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan." After learning that Shyamalan was planning to make the futuristic thriller "1000 A.E." with Will and Jaden Smith, Baker and his buddies launched M. Night School, a website where fellow concerned fans can donate funds to help the writer/director finesse his craft. "If we all donate just one dollar, we can send M. Night back to NYU so he gets the help we all so desperately need," reads the site, which has raised approximately $540 thus far. The trio hope to present Shyamalan with a giant check, but if he should refuse it, they will set up a scholarship in his name, hold a film festival, and send the winner to NYU. "Together we can write a better ending to this story than M. Night could ever dream of — let alone capture on film," reads a statement on the site. Baker acknowledges that Shyamalan "will probably be hurt" by the campaign, but, he adds, "his movies do make money, for better or for worse, which is kind of the irony of the whole thing." |

I like M.Night's movies though I have no desire to see Airbender (not a fan of anime). If they want to send someone to film school, they ought to send Tyler Perry. That man is so overrated and his movies make high school productions look like major Oscar contenders.
oh have any of you made a hollywood picture? no. oh ok.
Good one! i think thats 'nough said as a reply to the haters out there.
I I have a new book written about the Philadelphia Italian Market in the 1930 era. It involves a teenager who inherits a lot of money from the murder of his father, and goes on to do great things with the money. It`s a story that involves horrific killings by the Sicilian Black Hand/ Mafia. It also takes the reader to Hollywood, New York, Italy, a farm in New Jersey, and of course Philadelphia`s Italian market. This story is perfect for M. Night, especially since his heart is in Philly. He don`t need to return to school. He knows what he is doing. He just needs another good script and this is it. I`ve lived two blocks from the Market all my life, and worked Ninth Street back in the 50s, so I know what i`m writing about. Take a look what have you got to loose?
I have a screenplay for M.Night or any good filmaker as I was a jailed busdriver during Katrina. Too many sordid details to write here; elements of racism, dis-regard for National Guards written orders on me and drivers and busses. A couple of prisoner beatings. One 300 lb black dude was maced and beaten with baton by the jailers in Calcasieu Parish when he wouldnt stand up, when he got in the 10 to 15 person holding cell, he had bruises all over his legs and a broken knee cap as the police performing the false arrest on this father of three jailed for being out on his block after dark, he had been beaten on the legs by the sherriff's deputys (broken swollen knees) and he could not get up!
Story ends when a second Hurricane hit Lake Charles and the jail was opened and all were released. Never have so many truly innocent men been abused and jailed in pitiful conditions by their local law enforcement in the USA. I was there dammit. Tell this story dammit.
What's funny is the that not one scene from The Last Airbender's trailer was in the movie. The trailer wasn't even directed or produced by Shyamalan. On another note, The Last Airbender, was without a doubt, the WORST film ever made.
I was really disappointed when Avatar the Last Air bender came out... i saw the trailer and it looked like a low budget film ... with todays advancement in technology N. Shyamalan has no exuse to make an excellent film but he totally screwd it up!!!! the cartoon and the website for Last Airbender has better effects than the movie its self.... I wish someone would make another movie for it because it would beat Harry Potter to pulp!!!!! I think David Yates should of directed the film.....

the complexities of m nights movies (STORIES) are to much for simple minded people to comprehened and it takes a very special person, for just a moment, to enter his world and be a part of something so wonderful!!!!!! He has one of the most butiful minds in all of time itself.
i might consider if it includes sending will smith to acting school and finding a new career for his spoiled brat son.
what a waste. He already went to film school. He knows how to make movies. What is film school going to do?
Watching Dragon ball the movie and then Avatar: the last air bender was so bad. He really messed up on those movies. I could have done a better job than them. At least have Goku and Aang be played by other actors who would do better jobs.
I love M's movies! Not all movies have to be big, eye-candy blockbusters. I think M's movies are just a different FLAVOR than what the general public expects. A lot of his stories are quiet, thinker-type movies that hours after I watch them I'm still talking about them with friends and family. The fact that he IS financially successful proves my point! Not everyone has to fit into the cookie-cutter mold that is Hollywood. I hope M stays true to his visions and doesn't bend to the will of the general public.
Sixth Sense-great
Unbreakable-loved
Signs-hated it
The Happening-still hate it
The Village-Hated it
Lady in the water-Loved the concept and the stars
Air Bender-really loved it and will be waiting for the next one
Devil-yes he missed some follow through on plot points. It didn't make much sense.
You LIKED Airbender!? Are you kidding??? That movie straight BLEW!!! He did that animated series a TOTAL injustice!
I enjoy his movies, they’re creative and entertaining. I like a writer/director who uses his imagination to tell a story and does not rely on explosives and actor ensembles (Michael Bay/Gary Marshall) to sell a film.
It's too bad these three can't find more useful causes to take up their time. How sad is it that they have the ability too raise funds, and THIS is what they choose to do. Useless, stupid, as well as pointless since M Knight obviously believes he is a genius and a group of frat boys aren't going to make him go "Oh, wait a minute, maybe I don't know what the hell I'm doing..." Riiiiiiiiight.
Whoa, what about 'Stuart Little'? He wrote the screen play for that. No one seems to mention that classic. lol
You know youre the joke of Hollywood when this kinda press hits CNN lol
Don't go hatin on this guy. "Signs" was well directed. If you think you can do better, then do it. Otherwise, I suggest you go to film school.
Don't pick on M. Night. He's already pointed out to everyone that it's not his fault the American audience doesn't have the European sensibility to film.
I personally really liked The Village much better than Sixth Sense. Of course I have a fetish for eating womens poop also.
This is ridiculous. How can you expect someone to poop out movies like "The Sixth Sense" every other year? Give the guy a break. His last movie, "Devil" wasn't bad either so I'm not sure why these kids are hassling Mr. Night S. If anything, they should put more effort into finding something better to do with their lives then ridicule someone that's already made a name for themselves.
He doesn't need your help kiddos. But you guys on the otherhand, need a few lessons in coming to sense with reality.
Everybody's a critic ... did I miss Chris Baker's last Oscar nod?
Film school doesn't teach someone how to cast actors/actresses that can actually act though.
I liked Unbreakable. It wasn't perfect but I thought it was good.
Get a life.
Would sending him back to school really help? Doubt it.
I liked "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs" the best. The rest of his plots have been kind of redundant, trying to use the same shock formula every time. But that's just me.
Maybe if M night won't go, they can give the scholarship to Michael Bay
Don't just start and stop with him– there are many others and while we are at it let's reschool the studio executives, script writers, etc. etc.
haterssssss
I guess we should be thankful they use their time so peacefully.
This is ridiculous!!! There are tons of bad directors out there but somehow Shyamalan gets singled out for all the bad reviews, bad awards (razzies?!), bad press and bad insults. Claiming that you can write a better ending is arrogant and wishful thinking; if you can, may be you should instead of boasting. This is hurtful and insulting at so many levels but the silver linign is that Shyamalan will still laugh all the way to the bank while the people who are hurling insults at him are probably living hand to mouth. Get a life people and let the man make his movies. You have the option not to watch.
...I like turtles
While I agree many of Shyamalan's films end up lacking in many areas, I think lobbying to send him to film school will most certainly put him in a cult movie director niche, where he may be totally comfortable. Imagine if someone had recommended George Romero go back to film school, or William Castle, or Ed Wood... I'd rather see Shyamalan not try to make blockbuster Hollywood smash films... maybe he can live an old basement for a year, visited only by Rob Zombie, and they can drink absinthe and eat haggis, and raise poisonous insects for a few years, filming them on Super 8s and watching nothing but silent horror films projected on the concrete floor...
I thought making big bucks when you're only worth peanuts was the American Dream!
Where did he go wrong? The 6th Sense was so darn good. He stopped listening to others and started believing his own hype.
Wait, so we pay for a falsely-advertised "epic movie" like The Last Airbender and ended up watching an elementary school play..and you're telling me we now *also* have to pay for him to finally "become a better director"? He's already ripped us off as it is! I don't give a damn if it's only $1, it's still money. Let him pay for it himself. This was a horrible idea.
A: Those that have been very disappointed with his recent movies will NEVER consider "donating." B: His fans may donate the $1, but not all of them will because some of them will not want to admit that Shyamalan is a horrible filmmaker.
I love all of his movies, slow and mentally challenged people have a hard time following.
I think for the most part we can agree his movies overall, are trending downward, which is normal, Sixth Sense was great, Unbreakable was very good, probably the most rewatchable of all the movies, Signs was solid though the ending was laughable, there is 90 minutes of great film up to it, The Village is a twilight episode stretched into a movie, but it worked to watch it once, solid, not terrible, The Happening is interesting enough until it falls apart at the end, Lady in the Water is terrible, Devil is terrible, Last Airbender is a disaster, unfortunately for me it is at the point where his name means I am not interested in seeing the movie, which is too bad since he clearly has shown an ability to direct, time to find someone else to write his movies.
He's just another towelhead who thinks he can make movies, but all the movies I have ever seen of his just absolutely suck!! Why doesn't he just stick to Bollywood where he belongs. Crap nothing but crap from him!
Signs:
Water kills the aliens.
THEY DIDN'T SEE THAT WET STUFF COVERING THREE-FOURTHS OF THIS PLANET ON THEIR WAY DOWN FROM SPACE???????
Unbelievably insulting to ANY audience in the civilized world!
Don't forget the aliens mastered intergalactic space travel, but did not have the technology to break through a wooden door. Loved it when the Scary Movie franchise made fun of that.
HAHA I've been thinking that ever since I made the mistake of watching "The Village" and "Lady in the Water." Some of his films are so bad....now I would just watch them to make fun of them....
I loved The Sixth Sense. I love all of the previews for his movies – the previews make the movie look very different, very intriguing, but then the actual movie ends up falling on its face. I gave up with his movies now, no matter how intriguing the previews seem.
Actually, I thought "The Village" was well-made, and the sight of those construction workers jumping off scaffolding and hitting the ground below them in "The Happening" was a rather vivid scene.
I loved "sixth sense", "unbreakable", "signs" and "the village"... but i agree that "lady in the water" and "the happening" sucked... but i would still go to any move with his name on it. I think he is pretty good.
You people are ridiculous. I can't believe how many of you are missing the point of what these guys are trying to do. This is the equivalent of me thinking we should start a fund in order to send Nickleback to music school. And for the record this guy's movies have gone from good to horrible over the last 10 years.
Pretty mean-spirited stuff.
Why help him to make even crappier films?
Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs were all great movies. Haven't seen the rest, so won't comment on them. If you want to beat up on a director, though, what about George Lucas. Exactly what has he done since Star Wars?!
Um, he went on to ruin Star Wars, that's what.
I hope in the end they donate the money to a charity or a scholarship fund, some worthy cause, rather than actually giving it to someone who is already wealthy enough to send himself to film school.
Act like he sucks all you want, but Signs and 6th Sense are two of the best movies ever. Of course, this is all opinion, so those of you that act like you know film so well should look again at what Hollywood really wants, and that's money. Last time I checked (just did), most of his movies make a ton. Go ahead and check it out yourselves.
Wow, can't believe I got sucked into a lame conversation about this...unreal.
Michael Mann is more in need of film school than Shyamalan. Did anyone see "Public Enemies" ???????
While this is funny, its about as asinine as George Micheal asking people to donate money to the Will and Kate royal wedding fund. They have more than enough money to take care of themselves.
I see dead careers.
There are many Directors much worse than M. Night Shyamalan. So he has made some bad films...he isn't the only one. Did people expect him to make a Sixth Sense once a year???
Hmm...wouldnt you guys rather spend time collecting money for a more noble purpose!! What's with America, guys!
Devil was a good movie, but wasn't directed by M. Night. It shows that he has a creative mind for a story, but it is best to leave the execution to someone else.
One of my favorite films of all time was filmed and written by M. Night Shyamalan. It is called "UNBREAKABLE". That was an excellent film! I also thought he did a great job in fooling us in "The Sixth Sense". If you didn't understand "The Sixth Sense", don't watch "Inception" or "Memento".
His problem right now is he tried to stick to one formula, and that doesn't work. Like everything in life, change is inevitable and necessary. Perhaps if he tried filming a comedy or romantic film.
In addition to all this M. Knight nonsense, please take Spike Lee away and make him give up movies.
Snooki needs some attention now so that is all from me for now.
Has M. Night ever given credit for his career to Herk Harvey yet? Don't know who he is? Look up 'Carnival of Souls'. I knew he would make sub par movies after Sixth. It was inevitable since he stole the ending from this very B rated horror movie. He would never admit it, or draw attention to that fact, but draw your own conclusion.
Oh come ON! Every creative person ever has taken ideas from previous works! Shakespeare was one of the biggest plagerists EVER. You could take the last 100 "hit" movies from Hollywood and find traces of the past in every one of them. This is such a lame argument. LOL!
@Love M!
The Dude gives evidence to support his claim, you leave a giant assumptive and generalized reply. w4re R teh pr00f?
I think he needs to go somewhere besides NYU. Maybe try CSUN. It the best film school in the country. Of course, he might find it difficult to get accepted...
I actually liked Signs and The Village, though.
Good idea. His movies really suck.
To be honest, I never thought of his movie, "The Sixth Sense," as a memorable flick! The dude just got lucky - I guess it happens to some people that way in their lifetime. I think the dude should just leave the stage for some other good filmmakers - up and coming or established - to shine! Enough of his bull craps!
Frankly, he's had more than one good film ("Signs"). Yes, he's had some bad ones, too, but what's with the hate? Nobody's suggesting George Lucas needs to go back to film school, despite the lat three Star Wars films. There are a extremely few directors who can claim a resume devoid of more than a few dogs. So how is M. Night any different?
*cough* crystal skull *cough*
These people need to get a life, job, family.... While M. Night has had a few downers, the majority of his movies are intriguing and well done.. Psychological thrillers... The man is a genius..
For those who don't like them don't watch, Your Twilights and Fast and Furious will be out soon...
LOL!!! (Round of applause)!!
Please....A Charlie Brown Christmas is better than all his movies put together
The fact is that while he does have people that don't like his movies, they still bring in good money all the time. I personaly have really enjoyed his movies and everyone I know liked the Last Airbender (never watched animated version so if it really strayed from that I don't know). I think he is just one of those people in Hollywood people love to hate and that he started losing fans when people didn't understand that The Village wasn't going to be along the same lines as Sixth Sense so they didn't get it and hated it.
Really want to send someone back to film/acting school? Can we please send the over-hyped/over-used/mediocre Angelina Jolie?!?!?!
By golly, I'm sick of bolly.
You know why this is stupid? Because "Devil" was actually really, REALLY good.
But then I had to go ahead and watch "The Last Airbender..." oh lord...
I really liked Devil and thought it was great! (Way better than some of the other horror that has come out lately!)
I also liked Last Airbender but that may be because I never saw the animated version so i don't know if he deviated from the story enough to tick of its fans.
If u don't like his movies don't watch. Watching is the proof u like him. Another stupid American cultural idiocy.
Silence commie
I never understood why everyone thought The Sixth Sense was such a good movie. From there, his films just got worse and worse to the point where they're not even laughable.
It would better-off for Chris Baker and his pals to eat their pooh pooh to have a free board and lodging in the nearest assylum and have straight jackets as warmer.
This guy had his chance and he just lost it because he wasn't trying hard enough! Meanwhile, people like I want to go to film school and actually have a FIRST shot at a career, but he's getting the funding? I didn't even like the Sixth Sense that much. This is pathetic.
The surprise twist at the end... is that he already has gone to film school.
DANT DANT DAAAAA
that's why it says BACK to film school, not TO film school. l3rnz 2 r3adz g3wd 0k?
Frankly I like his movies. He just needs a little polishing coaching from director vets Wes Craven or George Romero.
But I also like the idea of him involved in a Twilight Zone style TV show. There are many fans of that style of story telling that has been ignored for too long.
He's made about six films so far? What every film school student fails to realize, is that no matter how bad you think his films are (and yes some of them are bad) he's in the business. You're paying $2,000 a class to learn, and hopefully, become as successful as he is. For the most part, film school is a good investment. Bu I spent a lot of days, as well as a few loan payments, thinking it was a complete waste of time. I'm better for it, sure, but in no way is a film student qualified to say that a director who's made six films needs to go back to school. LMFAO. Please try to at least make one feature before you criticize any filmmaker. Not so easy, huh?
The guy had a great movie. He then fell into the trap of constantly trying to recreate the Sixth Sense formula. Just make a good movie. We don't always need to be tricked or have a big plot twist. But for those saying his only good movie was The Sixth Sense; that's not true. The next two movies were above average before the formula began to run dry. At least he did better with his own material than he did with someone else's!
I like all of M's movies. I don't know what's wrong with people. I guess movie goers just don't like good stories anymore.
I agree with you 100%. I loved all of his movies and still do!
Well, I guess I'll be the one to stick up for him. I personally really like most of M Night's movies, and have leoved a few (even AFTER the Sixth Sense). He is an experimental and daring filmmaker, and I can see why his films might not be for everyone. Why does anybody care if they don't like his movies. There are hundreds of directors I don't care for, but I don't rag on them or their talent constantly, I just don't watch those films. M Night has enjoyed great success and id doing what he loves. Get off his back already and do something constructive! Those idiots would be better off spending that money to GO TO FILM SCHOOL THEMSELVES so tehy can make the kind of movies they want to see. I'm looking forward to the Will Smith Movie too.
Success /= money.
I agree wholeheartedly and posted a comment very similar. There are so many different types of movies, writing, etc., do we all really have to like the same thing. I love M and his movies!!!
"He is an experimental and daring filmmaker,". Dude, get a grip on reality, he is a film maker in the same vein as Ed Wood except that he is worse since he has much more funds available. His films are so bad that a reasonable intelligent person can only watch them for all the cheesy stuff. His scripts do not make any sense whatsoever, for instance an alien race with the technology humans could only dream of die from being exposed to H2O so they select a planet full of water to conquer. There is a whole village of people living 17th century style in a national forest in PA and they are not discovered? The strange thing is that he gets decent actors to be part of his ridiculous films.
The money raised should go to one or better yet, two students who should get the chance to go to film school and graduate. This may be a chance to bring forth another Kubrick, Eastwood or even a Lucas.
As for M. Night...maybe he should do shorter subjects, instead of 2 hour films, do half hour show, perhaps doing a tv series like the Twilight Zone ?
He got lucky with Sixth Sense and since then he has shown no talent in filmmaking.
The guy is a one-hit-wonder. Sixth Sense was terrific. Everything since then has been crap. Why studios keep financing his projects is beyond me.
Um, he make them money? It's not rocket science Joe.
Well, in the simplest way possible: Americans are dumb, blame the people who continue to fork over their money for inferior products, not the people who make them- they are just filling a demand.
Pretty sure he'll turn the money down, but the thought is good. However, I see these guys donating the money to some student who really can't afford to go to NYU's film school. People need to see the positives here.
It won't help. A director has, give or take, about 10 years of creative genius. The clock starts ticking at your breakthrough movie. And unless you're one of the VERY rare exceptions (like Stanley Kubrick), you've got abotu 10 years from that point to do your best work. Shyamalan is past that point. And he didn't even make much of his 10 years, as his movies got progressively worse during his career. His problem was that the studio's overindulged him for too long. He burst onto the scene with a great first effort and suddenly studios started throwing money at him, no matter how stupid his idea. Instead of having to struggle for it, he had them fawning over every idea he had–no matter how inane.
Not that I know a lot of Kubrick's movies but 2001 was horrible, and if it's anything like the rest of his movies I'll pass.
That said I had trouble staying awake watching The Sixth Sense and to this day it's one of the few movies I didn't finish watching. I have enjoyed a number of his other movies though.
Whorhay, "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "The Sixth Sense" are movies that make you think... not all movies can be brainless schlock like some of the "hit" movies that people seem to flock to the movies for and then forget until the sequel comes out. People who criticize movies like "2001" and "The Sixth Sense" for being boring just completely miss the point and these movies weren't meant for people that are easily bored anyhow.
@Whoray: LMAO, someone too dense to "get it" shouldn't even utter a word about Kubrick.
Seems like someone is putting a lot of effort into insulting Shyamalan. If you dislike him so much, why watch his movies or even waste time thinking about him?
Because it's fun. DUH!
Because everyone has to be a critic. His movies are great. I wish I had talent enough to make a movie so intense and all set in an elevator. Let's see some of the people making the comments do any better....
Not only did I read this article, but I commented. Argh.
See Mike? Its precisely THAT kind of literary irony that has allowed M.N.S. to continue to torture us all these years....
These guys are idiots. Regardless of how bad his movies are, the simple fact is, he still has more money than any of them will probably ever make in their lifetimes. He certainly has enough to send himself back to NYU if he so chooses. I think they should stick with the film festival idea and give the money to a deserving student. I think this is a classic case of some guys with too much time on their hands.
Wow, why to miss the point. Most people on this post rode the short bus to school, did they not? Of course he will turn down any money given (to help him go back to film school!!!), they will in turn take the money and donate it to a film student. Its all just a way of ribbing him for making bad movies.
Interesting that you equate money with excellence.
What about pride in making a quality movie? Money isn't the end-all-be-all of existence.
You know, some of us don't give two ships about how much money people make. All the money in the world wouldn't make his movies make sense to a person that doesn't have ADHD.
He should just go to television and do a show like The Twilight Zone. Most of his movies could have been handled in a 30 or 60 minute tv slot. The big issue is when he tries to make them go 2+ hours.
Yeah..okay ..go ahead and raise money for his schooling, lets see if he will remember you a month later azz wipes. Then again, I bet they are really raising the money for themselves and saying it's for this guy..lol. You may be right that he has a crush on him..lol. Hoping he will get the payback of dropping the soap.
Do you know how I know you're 14 years old. lol. lol. lol. lol. el oh el.
Ma sista! that really you ?
If they'd ony remake all those "Gidget" movies.... and cast me to play Gidget! I've wet my panties just thinkin bout it!
yes wet panties...the best thing I've heard so far today!
Finaly at last people are admitting this man movie are one big waste of time now if we can get hollywood to stop with the lousy remakes and boring all white stupid suppose to be funny love stories but instead just tedious bore of a plot oh hell just send the whole industry back to school!!!
"All white" – what has race got to do with this? Some people will play the race card at every opportunity, no matter how stupid.
@Jeffery
As much as you don't like the comment. It's true, Hollywood is nearly all white. All the money makers are white. Will Smith is an anomaly LOL.
Hey Kim. Why not take time out of your racist driven life and go back to school and learn English. Maybe then your post will actually make sense and you won't sound like a illiterate hood rat.
Wow. Nice grammar. You must not be a "white people". LOL!!!
Kim's comment is probably a reference to The Last Airbender. Shyamalayan cast white actors for characters that were Asian in the cartoon. Many saw this as a betrayal considering that Shyamalayan is of near eastern descent.
I see dead career.
I'm pretty sure every theater in the US had the same thing happen during the trailer...
I wouldn't waste a dime on him or his movies. He'll turn it down for sure and be hurt so many ppl feel this way but I mean even if he does take it he'll need a lot more then NYU's help...He should just walk away and save everyone their dollar
Not to be a pain but if you've never wasted a dime on his movies, how do you know they are bad? I mean, they are bad, but I only know that because I've wasted time watching them. But you claim to have never seen them. How then can you make such a statement? In other words, are you just listening to what everyone else says? Because if you are, that is lame.
@Anon: does not compute.
The poster never said that he/she never saw an M. Night movie- he/she said that he/she would not waste their money on one. You have constructed this idea poorly in your head, and in your attempt to 'catch' this poster, you've jumped the gun and extrapolated things that were never said.
Anon = fan boy. And I can't stand it when people say "not to be a pain BUT" or "not to be mean BUT..." and then proceed to say exactly the thing they were going to say anyway. Dumb!
LMAO!!!!
Dude has enough money to send himself. I wouldn't waste my hard earned cash on his films and I am sure not going to waste it on him.
Its just a $1...Send me your address, I will send you $1 with 45 cents postal stamp for you to keep it as a change
I agree with Grump, let him send himself.
FWIW, I thought Six Sense stunk just because there are too many continuity issues. I have seen it exactly once, was confused about the continuity during the movie and hated the ending because it didn't follow the details of second half of the movie. Never could figure out what all the noise was about with this guy anyhow.
Jeez, that's harsh. What did he do, bang your wife?
I agree! There are way better reasons to start raising funds...people who can't afford food, children with holes in their shoes, etc. Hollywood is becoming more and more of a waste. Let's stop focusing on all the rich/problems and focus on the soon-to-be non-existant middle class and poor class citizens trying to make a living! And this coming from someone who LIKES movies! But...books are better in the long run.
Lol I saw this on IGN last week. It's a good idea. He needs it.
Yeah he really needs it especially since... he went to film school at NYU already.
it's not that he's a bad director, he just needs to stop trying to write the screenplay as well. He could probably do good work if given decent material.
and honestly, I think Tarantino could use a few classes as well. 'Kill Bill' could've been an extremely good 150 minutes instead of an OK 247 minutes split over two movies. 'Inglourious Basterds' could have been a GREAT 125 minutes instead of an interesting 153 min. that came to a full stop all too often. And 'Deathproof' while (mercifully) brief completely sucked.
COMPLETELY agree on Tarantino as well.
The people that don't like his movies are not "getting" them. They are deep and meaningful with profound messages. You are missing the point. Maybe you'd be better off watching some WWF instead.
