Michael Shannon to play General Zod in 'Man of Steel'Watch out, Superman — General Zod is back! "Boardwalk Empire" star Michael Shannon has officially been cast as the Kryptonian villain in director Zack Snyder's upcoming "Man of Steel," reports Deadline. The actor joins Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Clark Kent's parents Martha and Jonathan. “Zod is not only one of Superman’s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don’t," Snyder says of the character, who hails from the superhero's home planet. "Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role.” Besides the comic books, General Zod also appeared in the 1978 "Superman" movie starring Christopher Reeve and was portrayed by British actor Terence Stamp. "Man of Steel" is scheduled to soar into theaters in December 2012. |

Hay Jake
I should play the man of steel. My weenie is made out of it ! It is powerful and miiiighty !
I thought it is ZOG and not ZOD. ZOG is who creepy folks think run the world. Folks that think that are scarrrrry creepy.
I'm not 100% but 99% sure you take the chubby pickle. Just sayin…
Lol at this point I'd even settle for Mr. Myxyspitlik, or however you spell it.
+1 for it not being a lex luthor film. -10 for doing something that's already been done before. seriously, i always knew one of these damned reboots would have another kryptonian. that's all they can come up with. they have zero imagination and aren't willing to try anything that hasn't already been done. this will flop like the last one did. it's going to be like the second reboot of the hulk, better than the first but not a hit. god, braniac, metallo, even bizzaro something other than the same old crap. he's an alien who flies and is bullet proof and shoots lasers out of his eyes. if people are willing to believe that and go to a movie then why can't you accept that we can believe him fighting a cyborg or some super powere alien(not another kryptonian) or even a friggin demon. jeez, you guys are going to fail again.
You are so right! Today, there is 79 YEARS of Superman history in the comic book series...villians, plots, storylines, etc. You're telling me the ONLY thing these yahoos can come up with is to dust off a mediorce script from the 1980s where Zod came off more like Snydley Wiplash? Please!
There are so many things they could explore...how do you cope with having god-like powers...how do you handle having to save people who may not deserve saving...how do you balance your Significant Other with your day (or night) job? Nah...let's remake something instead. It made money then, it'll make money now!
Warner Brothers, as the owners of DC comics, has ALWAYS had a bad track record of making believable live action movies from comics. That's why movies made from Marvel Comics (SpiderMan, for example) always have better story lines. Thank goodness for independence in art!
Meh, still would rather they had a different main villain besides Zod.
@Diva..s* t* f* u! Just read you new blog and please get over yourself. People only go on there to see what a train wreck you are which you are. Kids come on here all the time and play around and you think you have a stalker..lol. I think it excites you because you are getting some attention, even if it from some idiot or idiots that highjacked your name. There is more to life than sitting and watching tv all day and night.
This guy is super creepy! Because of that, I am a huge fan. This should be good.....
He will be a Great Superman!
No one can replace Terrance Stamp! "And now, finally, you will kneel before Zod!" Priceless.
Zod did not really appear in the first Superman. His character had a cameo at the end to setup the sequel, in which he played the main villain.
Anything they do would be better than this last superman
Michael Shannon is an amazing actor, he'll be a great Zod.
