Alec Baldwin: '30 Rock' is ending... or notAll good things must come to an end - including NBC's "30 Rock," which, according to star Alec Baldwin, will wrap things up in 2012. "I will tell you one thing, and that is our show next year is our last year of the show," he told Vulture. "Our contracts are expired (in 2012), and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing." But, much like his character Jack Donaghy, Baldwin might have said more than he should have (reps for the show declined to comment on his remarks), and he later wrote an apology of sorts on the Huffington Post. "Gosh. I want to take the opportunity to state that although my days on network TV may be numbered, I hope '30 Rock' goes on forever. Or at least as long as everyone involved desires," he said. "Next year hopefully won't be the last. Kenneth can run the network. Jenna will get her own talk show. Tracy will become Mayor of New York. Then resign to go raise exotic reptiles. And Lemon will go do ... just about anything she sets her mind to. "Here's to five more seasons." Would you be sad to see "30 Rock" come to an end? Tell us in a comment below. |

30 Rock is BRILLIANT! Not only is Tina Fey an amazing writer, she is also a very gifted comeidian and hot as hell to boot. I laugh out loud for 22 mins each thursday and wait eagerly for the next episode. I hope Tina and the gang continue to create this show for as long as they want too!
We love the show and feel that all episodes are relevant.

Just dont like cheesy sitcoms, no matter how good the acting. The Office/Seinfeld/Friends ect....are just as bad if not worse. Tina and Alec can do so much better. maybe it is time to end it, if its not funny any more.
Wow the dude talks out of turn about the show ending and everyone is either heart broken or happy to see it go. Seriously, those who don't watch the show go on about your business. Those who enjoy the show like me go on about your business. Those who are offended because it is liberal television seriously if this show offends you return to your FOX news broadcast and keep your conservative, narrow minded, Christian radical comments to yourself, because if you can't laugh at society what can you laugh at? Remember it takes more muscles to smile than frown and your faces must be in a permanent scowl these days.
@madhater: This jig@boo be a kickin' yo azz! H0nky cr@cker mofo!
Jig-a-boo be stankin. Jig-a-boo be stankin. Jig-a-boo be stankin. Jig-a-boo be stankin. Jig-a-boo be stankin. Jig-a-boo be stankin. Jig-a-boo be stankin. Jig-a-boo be stankin. Jig-a-boo be stankin.

They should have ended it after the 1st season.
BOBONGA TORUNGO LABINGA TRACY MORGAN SAH YOULAGOO NATUMBA EKINGAA FUFUDRTYE JLU DULU NATUNGO BAPINGO!!!!
Oh and Jenna is flawless in everything on this show...the runnings jokes between Grizz and Dot Com are things only loyal fans like me live for on 30 Rock. Most people just aren't smart enough to understand this show or to even give it a chance.
30 Rock is funnier than anything else on TV these days...while this past season hasn't been great, Queen of Jordan was an Emmy-deserving episode. I can't believe shows like the Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men beat this show in ratings.
30 Rock does need some improvement right now, and I'm confident Tina Fey can pull that...this woman knows funny, and she will be great long after 30 Rock ends. I don't care for her liberalism, but she and the other writers/actors on 30 Rock are witty as can be.
TV is for brain dead imbeciles who are too lazy to read a book.
30 Rock is the best show on network t.v. It's too bad though that the other Thursday evening shows are such a bummer. Check out the last 2 episodes of last season's Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld definitely redeemed themselves. Endless loops of 30 Rock and Curb shows, now there's a big slice of Heaven!
30 Rock is excellent, but the best comedy may be The Big Bang Theory. With both on Thursday makes for some Must See TV that we haven't seen since Seinfeld.
Alec is HOT. I would get behind him, pull off his underpants, grab his child bearing hips and slam the livin hell out of his HOT MAN BUTT!
Never watched it, can't stand any of them. Maybe the show could end with everyone getting hit by a bus
Agreed. Most series start to lose steam around season 8 so ending on season 6 or 7 is usually best.
Oh, they could do several funny episodes without Alec, because the cast and characters are strong enough. But... no... the dynamic between Jack and Liz is really the central core of the show. Would be sad to see it go... but I will happy to see it go out on a high note. Sure, the show goes over the heads of many people. Maybe many people don't like their comedy to be smart and clever. (Sorry, if you say it's not smart and clever you are neither smart nor clever yourself or your not paying close enough attention). Anyone who maybe is on the edge and hasn't caught on to why this show is great... go rent the first season and watch them back to back... hopefully you'll start to see what the fans of the see.
I LIKE SHUTDOWN!!! 30 ROCK MAKE ME LAUGH HA HA HA!!! BIDEN PUT BIG STICK UP MY POO POO SHOOT AND MAKE ME SO CRAZY!!!!! ZOO WEE MAMA!!! PS IM GAY AND LIKIE TH BOYZ!!!!!
been watchin that TV box for 30 odd years and never ever seen me a show near as good. if you dont like it i hope there is a show that makes you laugh as much as 30 rock makes me laugh.
Anyone who doesn't crack a smile, or outright laugh at this genius show is probably home schooled, a Tea Party member, a bitter Republican, a religious nut, or just plain boring. Go watch the Hallmark Channel where they're bleeping out the word "ass" on 20-year-old episodes of the Golden Girls, and live like it's 1950 all over again. Have a nice, safe, boring day, middle America.
Here, here!
Scott, I would like you to take my virginity. That was brilliant. I also loved Tina during her SNL days.
Sara to Christine Hoelle: U are too pathetic-get a life!
30 Rock is the best sitcom on TV, and I'll be sorry to see it end. But Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin and the other cast members and writers deserve to move on to other creative opportunities when the right time comes. Thanks to Netflix, the rest of us can indulge the guilty pleasure of entire seasons of 30 Rock without commercial interruption.
I think most shows' max should be 6 seasons. so ending next season is perfect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3zxucyWNq8
weak
I think it should end. It's getting old already and the last few episodes have been bad. Alec needs to do some cameo's on Mad Men.
After the hateful integrity challenged mocking of Sarah Palin, CNN libs fawn over Tina Fey like Ted Nugent at a NRA convention.
I love it when libs attach Snookie to NASCAR, uh sorry, Snookiie types come from the bluest parts of this nation. I'm not amused by Jersey Shore, I live in an ultra blue area and see it day in and day out, but for the people who live in the red areas filled with great Americans, it is a car crash that is hard not to witness.
I'm really hoping they get a solid ten-year run out of this show. The writing is solid and clever and the characters are one-of-a-kind. If Friends can do it, so can 30 Rock!
The end of 30 rock would devastate my entire family
Nice. I'm sure your family could not survive an ordeal or tragedy so trying as that. That would be so hard, I'm sure.
I could watch every 30 Rock episode ever made non-stop in a row and still have room left for another season or two. That is one of the best shows ever made.
I personally don't think Tina Fey is as funny as Tina Fey thinks she is. Don't get me wrong, I like her but she's obviously propelled more by the "you go girl" cabal for her gender than by fans of her actual body of work.
I will definitely be disappointed when 30 Rock ends. I'm disappointed when they do re-runs instead of a new show. I think it's the highest-quality, most amusing scripted comedy on TV right now, and infinitely more interesting than all the crappy, low-cost reality shows that seem to be everywhere. I like that network executives are willing to let the writers poke fun at the network itself. The characters are also so well developed and so amusing (maybe they only work for nerds). Anyway, I hope it continues just as long as the writers think they can keep cranking out good material.
If they're gonna end it, they need to end it while it's still as great as it's been. Don't drag it out just to drag it out. No good can come of that.
A lot of people just can't keep up with the humour. You have to actually pay attention to what they're saying and then figure out what it means, sometimes this takes a few seconds and the dialog just keeps going. This is not Jersey Shore or Dog The Bounty Hunter.
If you don't like 30 Rock then there's a good chance that you're "slow" and unable to appreciate the writing. For those people I have no sympathy because you have plenty of crap to watch on tv. Reality television was built around your demographic. Just flip over to TruTV and leave 30 Rock alone.
You're so right! I have every season on DVD and am still discovering hilarious lines that I didn't catch the first time. Just goes to show how amazing the writing is.
Nick- Duh! You must mean "3rd Rock from the Sun" ( A reference to planet Earth being the third plane, or 'rock' from the sun). Intellects out there: We're dealing with morons! This is a big reason why this intellectual show must go on! We need it to balance out the really dumb crap on TV. Love this show!
Ms Got it Anything but Together-Duh! So you're saying you have to be somewhat intelligent to understand "30 CRock? You mean at least intelligent enough to understand sarcasm? Do you sit there stone-faced watching this show while others around you translate and convey the web of complex humor? I would say the moron meter is pointing directly at you. Good and intelligent TV is not this "30 Crock" drivel– it's shows like Nova, reputable newscasts, learning shows and "Charmed". In case you didn't understand that last one was sarcasm. You have to have a certain level of intelligence to pick up on that.
I feel like Alec Baldwin is a great mentor for the rest of the cast. He knows how to play the game, and I believe that the cast will heed his advice and end the show on a peak. Plus, Tina Fey is blowing up and is probably ready to move onto another project.
Yep, it's called baby #2.
30 Rock is one of the best shows out there. It would be a terrific shame if it were to end so soon. Tina Fey is the most talented and creative writer in the business and I would miss her wonderful one-liners and monologues. Alec Baldwin is surprisingly funny and I hope he also stays put. It is one of my top three favorite shows.
"30 Rock"? Jon Lithgow has always been a funny actor. But I thought his show ended like 10 years ago.
That's "3rd Rock". 😀
Haven't seen one yet so I won't miss it.
That is hilarious!!!!! Well said drdrd! You are a true poet.
There's a show called "30 Rock"?
DON'T TAKE IT AWAY! I love this show.
Last 2 episodes were unwatchable... turned them both off midway through
I'd be glad to see its demise. It hasn't been actually funny for a season or more.
The show definitely has a couple more seasons left in it, before it has to worry about running the series into the ground.
if it ends in 2013-2014 I'll be happy.
If it ends next year I think that's a little too soon.
I hope the show continues. I really like the cast and generally the writing is good. TV is filled with too many reality and dance shows. Reality just gets more annoying now with taxidermist reality shows on Discovery and the History Channel.
For those that don't get the humor of this show, as one of my self-depracating friends described it, "I don't think I'm smart enough or witty enough to like this show." I guess it's just not for everyone, but it's definitely one of the best shows on TV right now. Glad it was never dumbed down for normal-America reception.
Keep 30 Rock going. Excellent show. You have to have intelligence to appreciate it. All the cultural references, the sly jokes, the comic come-backs, are hilarious to those who see the humor in being on top of current events and the history of comedy. This show might be over-the-heads of some, but for those who "get it", it is a must see. Love this show, please, please don't go. Alex, Tina, Tracey, and the rest of the cast have found comedy gold. Best TV sitcom in ages.
It's the BEST show on TV!!! You have to be quick to catch alot of the humor.
I loved it when Alec Baldwin had the TV in his office take voice commands and during a conversation he said the word "crap" and the TV turned to the Kardashians' show. It happened so fast. I will miss this show if it is cancelled. Tracey Morgan and Tina Fey are so funny. But if it starts to go downhill, then it's time to go.
30 Rock has low ratings for a reason and it has nothing to do with the masses being "dimwits."
The show is not half as good as its fans seem to think.... Personally I wouldn't dislike it so much if they would just can Tracy Morgan. That guy is like nails on a chalk board to me.
30 stinks. Overrated crud that only a critic would think is good. NOT funny.
Seems to me more people than critics think its good...kind of a pointless debate if not.
Baldwin is probably just trying to gain the upper hand for contract negotiations. I very much doubt any of the cast of this show want it to end.
With the exception of Tina Fey I can't see any of them finding a better gig. Tracy Morgan makes great guest appearances but you can't live off that. Baldwin can get small movie roles and host Saturday Night Live but that ain't a living in Hollywood. If it wasn't for 30 Rock Jane Krakowski would be selling cheap makeup door to door by now.
Baldwin and Fey are the only reason the show's still on the air. Either of them leaves and it's probably the end of the line.
If the last 3 episodes are any indication of what we will see next year, they could end it now. They were really stupid and unfunny.
I will sorely miss 30 Rock. That show has comedy that makes you think which is rare these days. It is the last network show that I watch without fail.
@Darp...Honestly its an okay show I dvr it and watch when I watch the good shows first. BUT ARCHER?!?! That is absolutely the Stupidest show/cartoon I've ever saw!! so, you don't get to rate any shows.
30 Rock is one of those rare shows that has amazing writers AND people actually watch it (sorry, Arrested Development). but as others have pointed out, just because they could keep it going doesn't mean they should. My favorite show is the Simpsons, which has become a chore to watch because I feel some strange obligation to stick with it despite the fact that it hasn't been good in over a decade!
I love the show! But I agree that if any of the lead actors are to leave then its best to just end the show. Not many shows successfully move forward when any of the lead characters leave.
Yes I'd be upset if it ended! I love that show!
Love the show! I think it's consistantly one of the funniest shows on television but it has been on for awhile now. If it's done after next season I wouldn't mind. I'd rather see them go out while on top and there are always the DVDs to rewatch over and over again.
I hope 30 Rock continues for a long time, I love Tina Fey and Jack McBrayer, Jane Krakowski is hilarious and Tracy Morgan shows great skill at being inept. My family and I love the show with all the character quirks that (oddly enough) are closer to the average American's real quirks than any other show on television.
P.S. Reality tv has nothing on 30 Rock
I never watched the show! It looks stupid just like all of you idiots that watch this cr ap! I watch NJ shore because its so much better rhan the cr ap they have on tv lately
Clearly you are a classy and intelligent individual commenting on a show you do not even watch. Also, your influence and intelligence are displayed through your love for the Jersey Shore, of which the only episode I have been able to stomach in its' entirety was the South Park episode making fun of it.
Gross.
You must be a troll, if not, and you don't know what a troll is then it makes it even funnier. Watching Jersery shore is like watching Animal Planet.
This is a smokescreen to get higher salary in the next contract. So obvious.
maybe, maybe not...Baldwin's been saying he's gonna get out for two years
You really need to watch this show from season one to get all the jokes. You can stream episodes from Netflix. I'm on season two right now and it is hilarious.
Unfortunately, it doesn't stay that funny.
It's the funniest, smartest comedy on TV. No matter what kind of day I'm having it always makes me laugh. I hope they end it on a great note, not like what NBC has done to "The Office", which is now unbearable to watch.
I am really going to miss this show. It's one of the only shows that makes me laugh to the point of not being able to breathe 😀
The first couple of seasons were gold, but the characters have gotten boring and predictable.
This show blows. Hope that it ends before 2012.
Two words: Bird Internet.
Kenny should be very worried – it didn't do it for me on the show, but you're take on this line turned it into a classic for me!
...and for those that might scoff at the idea: http://www.google.com/technology/pigeonrank.html
Pay Alex alot more money...he'll stay. There is no show if he goes. At least for me.
30 Rock has been consistently laugh out loud funny since it's premier. Alec is a revelation, though he needs to stay on his meds. The jokes fly so fast and furious I can hardly keep up. This show easily has a few more years left. I am left scratching my head over the people who don't find 30 Rock the least bit funny. I think they are missing a gene or two.
I for one would miss the show. The self-induldgent characters, off the wall humor, etc, are what makes it funny. If you don't think 30 Rock or the Office is funny to watch, I bet your fun to hang out with. I do agree that Baldwin jumping into the Office would be fantasticly hilarious.
The Office has run its course and it's time for it to go. As with ER, I'm addicted to the show so I have to watch it. That was very difficult as the last 23 seasons of ER were just plain bad with me yelling at the screen most of the time.
I love 30Rock. I will be very sad when it goes off the air. Tina Fey is a comedy genius.
The show is getting long in the tooth. Started out great, but is just mildly funny now.
No comedy should last more than 5 seasons. This was a good show, the first season was great and there were great episodes in the following seasons. It just seemd to, overall, run out of ideas pretty quickly. This show is one those (like community) that is just clearly written by people raised on tv. Entire episodes were basically remakes of episodes of Newsradio (a gem of the 90's). I look forward to comedic writers that haved lived interesting lives. Things are very stale and recycled right now. Fan Boys are not writers, they are fans.
Newsradio is my absolute favorite! What 30 Rock eps rehash their plots?
I enjoy this show, hope it doesn't go down hill before the end!
http://www.iLineRide.com
I love Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin and almost all the rest of the cast is just phenomenal.
Unfortunately, the "star" of the show, Tracy Jordan, is truly awful.
Dump that guy and you might have a great, instead of so-so, show. I fast-forward through every TJ sequence; he just isn't funny. Eddie Murphy could have done this but Tracy really sucks, he is so one-dimensional and even that dimension isn't funny.
Make it Jenna's show. She's the perfect prima donna. And give some more time to other worthy cast members from the writers pool.
Tracy Morgan is second to Jane Krakowski when it comes to bad acting, and she looks like a cross between a rat and a chipmunk. Enjoy the show, however, although it can be a bit hit and miss and is way liberal.
Goodbye Katie, Matt,Meredith and now 2 more libs in Alex and Tina... Adios...
30 Rock has plenty of creative gas left in the tank, so long as Tina, Alec and Tracy are on board! Very clever and hilarious show!
Chris? Is that really you Bristol?
Theres no reason this shouldnt be a 9 season show. I doubt it will be only 6 seasons, it has a few years left.
I didn't know it was still on.
I agree with the the others on here, Tina needs to walk away while the show is still hot. The Office sucks now, as well as other NBC shows that didn't know when to quit.
If there is ANYTHING we can or should learn from Seinfeld (most amazing show ever) is that Jerry knew when to call it quits at just the right time. Don't leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
How can u take Alec or anything he does seriously? Especially after beating his wife and calling his own daughter a pig!
Be quiet, pig.
Is that show still on???
I'll be sad when it ends, but it's best to end your run on top!
I don't watch sitcoms so its moot to me. There could be better use of network boradcasting than mindless, degrading entertainment. I prefer NCIS, L&O, History Channel, CNN, etc.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, THE "HISTORY" CHANNEL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Hahahah yeah really not to mention CNN
I would be sad for the show to end, but like all great series there has to be an end. I would love for this show to end on a high note than be faded out and not remembered.
If "30 Rock" ends, I will die.
You better start making your funeral plans. Not much time left.
I dont watch this and probably never will....as it looks like a lot of ppl wont since the ratings are low...who cares
I am not a fan of 30 Rock, I don't view nasty putdown as comedy. And I avoid anything to do with Tina Fey – I don't buy magazines that feature her, I don't watch anything that has her name attached due to the nasty and cruel material that she thinks is "comedy." I wish we had the truly great writers, directors and actors that did real TV comedies like Mash and All in the Family – those are the greats. Tina Fey is the garbage collector who smears crud on everything and fools the sad into thinking its comedy. It ain't. And nobody has mentioned the role of Comcast – now that they own a big slice of NBC, they will put a stop to the snooty putdowns that the fools think is comedy on 30 Rock – Amen to that, and long past time it was cancelled!!!
you are officially the most boring person in the world
haha! nice troll, now go back to Faux News!
Totally agree. Nothing beats the sitcoms of the past. And Tina is just not funny.
Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman!
30 rock is awesome! I have been watching the show since season 1, and for the people that "think" they are too smart for the show, why would you take the time to post a negative comment? Does the show and everything about it make you that much of a negative person to put down everyone? Well if you can't answer that without blasting then that really answers what I'm really thinking! As for me ill enjoy the rest of the time the show is aired as I did with arrested development...
Any show that has the line "rectal integrity" said with a stright face is just plain funny... If they keep it funny, as it is, this could have a few years left in it – but without jack??? hard to say the dyanmic might be too flat..
"Rectal Integrity"? Really? That's the benchmark for clever humor, for appealing to the intelligent class, for being above the dimwitted masses who don't find butt jokes funny just because they're hidden in a phrase with big words and sarcasm? I guess your comment by itself is fine, but seeing it context with the elitism in other comments on this thread... Just... wow.
I think that there's been a decline in the "30-Rock" writing this year.
That being said...it's still the best written show on TV. And the performers are all top-notch.
And Tina Fey is totally FEARLESS.
I am an extremely nasty person, so I will write about me, only. Okay?
meh.
Whow else is tired of the expression "meh?"
What's the matter not enough snookie in it for you dimwits? More explosions then? How about some nudity that should bring all the masses.
I agree EricLr, French Stewart really makes this show sparkle. Hope it sticks around.
Eric Lr Now that's funny!! I'm probably the ony one here that "gets" it!
EricLR & Pete – not funny
Tim – most definitely not
And of course as usual only the dimwits dislike great shows like these.
I really like John Lithgow and French Stewart on that show. This is a real shame.
Yeah, that was a good show, too.
It's one of the funniest shows ever, and yes, I'll be terribly sad when it comes to an end. Long live 30 Rock reruns!
The show has been going down hill ever since it started winning awards. Then, the writers got pressured to squeeze in every lame star in Hollywood who wanted a cameo, and the script suffered. The first two seasons were great.
I love 30 Rock! It's quirky, off-beat wit combined with the characters' over-the-top style is what makes the show so funny. I don't care for Alec Baldwin on a personal level, but for a straight-faced delivery of hysterical dialogue, there's no one better. And I just love Tina Fey – the real person among the crazies. I would hate to see the show go, but as they say, all good things...
This is the funniest show on tv. Please don't end it!
I will cry. I love this show.
If you take the time to know the characters, it's a very entertaining and funny show. I just think NBC and GE were tired of constantly being made fun of in the scripts and sentenced the show to a terrible time-slot. BTW – what does that say about "Outsourced"?
Don't go to bed with a frown in your pocket! Put it on a string and then tie it to a rocket! Send it to the moon, you'll be feeling better sooooon! Don't go to bed with a frown in your pocket!
As much as I am a huge fan and would hate to see it go, I agree that it should not be run into the ground. The Seinfeld crew was smart because they left while they were still on top. 30 Rock, although not the most popular show on tv or nbc, should follow those footsteps.
Blows
To have a sense of humor - to find a show like 30 Rock funny - requires at least a baseline level of intelligence. Evidently some of the people commenting on this story fall below the baseline. Their loss!
I would hate to see 30 rock go.. i love it!!!
I for one won't miss this self-indulgent excuse for a show. Horrible script and even worse acting. It's like they don't really care about the viewing audience.
Thar's precisely the point! The characters are overblown, self -indulging syncophants sucking up to each other ( or themselves) in a self-diluding world misplaced priorities! In other words, a very "New York" show!
Apparently you didn't "get the memo"...
I think you either missed the point of the show or it went over you head.
Well i saw it once r twice no big deal i say end it now only 7 post that tell u how many people saw the show
The first person pronoun is "I" (note the capital) and the second person pronoun is spelled "you" – all part of a (very) basic education in the English language.
Who dat?
Alec Baldwin would be the perfect replacement for Steve Carell's lead character on The Office. He could step in without missing a beat and refresh The Office back to it's comedic prime. Win win for everyone!
I never watched it. I will wait and catch it when it goes syndication.
Why would someone who has never watched "30 Rock" read this article and then comment on it? If you haven't cared up to this point, why should anyone else be interested in your opinion? Thank you for your uninformed words. You truly enriched this conversation! Now go back to counting clouds or whatever other important business you have to do.
Wow, Reasonmethis, your words, just as you've professed, are truely inspirational. I also am now moved to stay away from commenting on subjects that I have an opinion on but shouldn't. Good Job. Keep it up.
Kinda like someone bothering to comment on a political article, "Well, I don't really know who Obama is, and I don't really follow politics in general, and I think congress is what you have with your spouse when you are both in the mood, but... ummm... I'm going to go eat a pie now." Thanks. Thanks for that.
ThisIsTheEnd – You can have an opinion on anything you want – that's the democratic way. However, mistaking opinion for fact is nothing more than ignorance on display. Like you said earlier, that is what is wrong with America today.
The show will be nothing without Alec, he is the best part of it for me. So if he leaves, I only hope they end it.
I hate to say it, but I think you are right. If Alec leaves then you lose a huge part of the show, and Tina Fey's foil. As much as I love Tina Fey, it is Alec I watch the show for.
Please do not let this show end. It's still amazingly funny and relevant. Kenny running the network would be Hilarius!
Gosh, Alec, I hope you swallow a bunch of alka-seltzer and your head explodes! Tina's okay, but you suck!
Are you kidding? He's one of the funniest on the show! His career has definately had a resurgence thanks to 30 Rock.
Please! Alec's dry delivery is right up there with Leslie Neilson. He's brilliant.
Gee Nap, don't hate Alec Baldwin just because he's good looking and a great comedic actor. He is hysterical on 30 Rock!
`No I wouldn't be sad to see this show go, it's insanely overrated.
Humor is definitely in the eye (or ear) of the beholder, so Chevontez's opinion certainly doesn't fly with those of us who do find the show extremely clever and funny, and deserving of all the positive things said about it. Long live 30 Rock!
Agree. Since I've never been inclined to watch even an episode, I won't miss it.
Razbo, Chevontez is right. I've tried watching this show and it's just not funny. Actually, it's part of what is wrong with America these days.
Agreed. My wife and I have tried on 4 or 5 occassions to watch the show because critics liked it. I guess it goes without saying: critics are hit or miss. In those 4 or 5 episodes (the ones we didn't get bored with and change the channel), my wife and I did not even crack a smile once.
I can't believe how many people are agreeing with you here, I think this show is SOOOOO funny! I have always wondered why it got bad ratings... it seems so obviously awesome to me... well to each his own I guess but for me 30 Rock is hilariously awesome, it's like the second funniest show on TV right now behind Archer! If any of you talk smack on Archer then I will know you are all crazy and have no idea from funny. XD
30 Rock is not only extremely funny and smart, it's also one of a kind. I've never seen a show work on so many levels before. Unfortunately it doesn't get the ratings it deserves because people are stupid and they like pro wrestling, Nascar and Jersey Shore. So, if that's the alternative, then I'm really happy and proud to say I that I think 30 Rock is rated right where it belongs...as a brilliant show with an intelligent fanbase.
So sammyw, you judge a show based on never having watched it?? And you want to share your opinion with others??
Actually it's the best sitcom on TV, though obviously not for everyone's tastes.
There's an expression that goes, "too hip for the room", that appears to be the case here. 30 Rock just goes over the heads of a lot of people, and judging by the comments here, they seem to be letting their politics get in the way too, because Tiny Fey accurately skewered their precious Sarah Palin. And let's be honest, trolls just don't have a sense of humor, period. 30 Rock is light years ahead of anything out there. Some people will never get it and that's OK. The phrase separating the wheat for the chaff comes to mind.
I totally agree, not especially funny and way too dirty.
I do think it's better to end a show when it's still great. Look how long some of these shows go. When it ends, no one even notices. As long as it's not a Seinfeld ending.
If they parodied the Seinfeld ending....that would be sublime.
Years later, I too am bitter at that crappy Seinfield finale.
Too bad that time has passed for 30 Rock....I used to laugh and laugh when I watched that show. Unfortunately, I found myself cringing after awhile...no longer funny. Oh Tina, how I loved you. What happened?
The woman who compared this to the Office and found 30 Rock to be far superior must have been hit in the head with a rock. Sorry....I love Tina Fey, but this show is already in a landslide.
Lydia, I agree with you totally. As I said in another comment:
I was a die-hard 30 Rock fan. I would tell everyone to start watching it. And then something strange happened last season. It wasn't funny anymore. I could see all of the jokes coming, everything became so formulaic. Every joke is a predictable play on words. It's incredibly tired. So I believe that 30 Rock's best days are well behind it. I think it should end while it's still on a semi-high. Now, the best comedy on TV is Community. Seriously.
.....every time they do, they lose IQ points!
Mr. Donnaghy is an amazing man, he helped me come to terms with the death of my father-pig. You'd better not let him hear you speak like that, (he'll crush you in his mind-vise) 😀
Yeah, just like politicians, cops, steel workers, PTA moms, and maybe even you. I mean, you're not saying YOU'VE never made a verbal mistake, are you?
as much as I like Alec Baldwin....he like other entertainers really should not speak unscripted................
Oh really? Just entertainers?
Although I'd hate to see the series end, I would hate to see it ran into the ground, but I think the cast is smart enough to keep it going a little longer while being fantastic.
MMMM...Alec has a big hairy manbutt and I wanna lick it.
I think NBC will run it into the ground, like they did with ER and now the Office. I hope Tina Fey is smart enough to walk away.
I have to agree. Many times it is better to walk away, while still a class act.
Just like they did with Battlestar Gallactica. Greatest show. I was sad to see it go, but they did it at a good time and didn't let the show run too long.
(well, they meaning NOT NBC)
Please don't compare 30 Rock to The Office. The reason The Office is "run into the ground" now is because it was never good in the first place. All it was missing was the laugh track to make it at par with Two and a Half Men; that is, The Office is just as unbearable to watch as Two and a Half Men.
30 Rock is awesome! This season has been great as have all of them; who doesn't love the idea of Trust Fund Child Disease, Bobert (not Robert) Ballard, The Muffin Top Song! I sit there, every time I watch an episode old or new, with a smile on my face for 22 minutes straight!
Actually, blah – NBC owns the Sci Fi channel, and were the ones that decided to air Battlestar Galactica.
Anna,
First: I have news for you – The Office wasn't bad just because you didn't like it. In fact, it was good for quite a few years. Second: I was a die-hard 30 Rock fan. Seriously.
Yeah, I've like'd the show for a while, but this year, it's just not working. I think it has "Jumped the shark". Time to move on and make something better.
Creativity doesn't have a time table. If Tina can keep it flowing, I will watch.
