Did the 'Idol' Top 9 rock you out?

The show ended on a wild note with all the contestants dancing around like mad on the stage.

The folks in the picture above seemed like they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Good night to be an "Idol" judge and mentor.

What did you think about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tunes? Did the contestants move you?

I think this evening proved yet again that this season has some serious talent and for the most part they did the classics proud.

Did you have a favorite tonight? Can you yet call a winner?

Sound off!

I am extremely impressed along with your writing abilities and also with the structure for your blog. Is that this a paid subject or did you customize it your self? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one nowadays..

3 out of every 10 people can sing. Very few have what it takes and depth and soul.
Chris Robinson from the black Crowes has soul. None of these contestants do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Covering someones song is terrible, when it will never be as good as the original/ However, some artists, Chris Robinson for ie, can singing it and making it his own.
American idol contestants sing Sweet Home Alabama....what a joke.
American Idol and Glee have done nothing to raise the bar for popular music. It is embarrassing.

well, here's the lowdown on all the judges, would you want them to judge YOUR talent? Randy loves to just show his white teeth and listen to himself(asking himself....now I wonder what my ex-boss Simon thinks I should say now? Jennifer just tries to think which of the latin americans should she vote for this year. And Steven is only wondering, wow "where am I"?

Some of them get tiring after awhile such as Paul and Stephano. As I watched last week (Tyler fan), I thought Pia and James put in the best performances. The others were crooning and did not seem themselves as before.

I LOVE CASEY ABRAM! He is the most talented of all the conestants, in my opinion. He has passion when he sings and has the ability to sing any genre....which some contestants just don't have the same ability. Now Lauren's rendition of Candle in the Wind...OMG! I watched that three times cause it gave me goosebumps-AMAZING! I'm also losing interest in Paul like some others have said....he can sing some things and sound good...but doesn't have much range and seems to have just one volume...wierd.

Pia is very attactive and has a nice voice but she is not the bet singer. I can't see her selling a lot of records. I prefer some of the singers with edgier voices and more charismatic styles.

Pia Toscano goes home? the best singer on this show hands down, she's just incredible, wow, I have said a few times before because of the half baked voting format and judges on this sham talent show I'm not watching it again, this time is for real. I will never, ever, watch American Idol again, done, over, the end.

Really? I LOVED it that we were actually surprised and the judges didn't get to call the shots. Pia sounds like someone you'd hear singing in a Disney princess movie. I'd never buy anything of hers or listen to her on the radio. Buy, hey, different strokes for different folks.

It's clear that Xpert's "education" and "years in the music business" has 1) landed him a career in which he has time to hang around all day and post vitriolic diatribes on a CNN blog and 2)made him angry at the world.

Casey – reminds me of a Jack Black kind of character. He can take any song and sing it enough to be entertaining in a funny way but he does not belong in American Idol. But apparently many people disagree.
Stephano – I have to admit, I liked last night's performance over all of his others. He usually puts so much emphasis on each word that it comes across as choppy and broadwayish...at least last night I didn't see that.
Paul – I want to like him because I think his voice is interesting but he always sings so low that the music drowns him out and slurs his words together so much. Last night was his best performance because at least we could hear him!!
Pia – She's beautiful with a voice to match. But so uncomfortable on stage which is why she always sings ballads so she doesn't have to move much. She has a good chance of winning if she wakes up.
James – I was happy to hear him sing instead of scream for a change.
Jacob – Holy crap....I can't get past his painful facial expressions when he sings. It's torture. I hope he goes so I don't have to suffer through that anymore.
Blonde chick – well, she's obviously forgettable to me. Nice voice but she won't win
Haley – She could've had a chance if she had judges that actually wanted to help her. Instead, they have lead her down a trail of no return. Her fake growling will be her end.
Scotty – He would have the largest fan base. Alot of country fans like that deep country twang and he's a likeable kid. The teenage girls will carry him through, even on his bad weeks.

That's my review and, no, I'm not an "expert". But I am better than the useless judges that we are stuck with!!.

Casey the red-headed stepchild continues to confound us all with why such a talentless individual is still there, but this week Stephano takes the cake with his Michael Bolton by way of David Arculeta (sp?) rendition of When A Man Loves A Woman. But none of it matters...the big-headed kid with the deep voice is predetermined to win...and reason #1–the cross. Wear it all the time so the megachurchers know who to vote for. And note to Jacob: you're right, but it doesn't matter–ain't no way this country is voting for a big gay black kid, no matter how much talent you have.

People have these things called opinions. Although I think the show is garbage and talent is non-existent, that doesn't mean your opinion is more intelligent than someone else's. Someone who proclaims to be an expert at something (you) obviously has a rather inflated ego. Besides, at the end of the day, no matter what you say people will vote for whomever they want. Since when has AI produced any legitimate talent in the last few years?

I am so disappointed in American Idol this year. Without Simon, the show completely lacks honest constructive criticism. Steven Tyler may have been a great singer but the guy's brain is completely burned out and he's lucky to string 5 words together to make a sentence, let alone say something meaningful. J-Lo is just another Paula, without the slurring. Randy is a huge disappointment. I really thought he would step up to the plate and at least semi-fill Simon's shoes but he's as useless as always. The worst that the contestants hear now is "that wasn't your best" but what they need to hear is "that totally sucked and you'll be lucky to be here next week". They could all benefit from some brutal honesty and they sure as heck will at least understand why they are in the bottom three! You would thing they were all absolutely the best last night. My God...not one performance was flawless but you'd never know that by the judges comments!!

I guess that's why this year's crop of karaoke singers appeal to you kiddies. Hey here's something for all of you: Justin Beiber got a new haircut...WOW!! And Selma Gomez rocks.

Well, looking at this strictly has a singing contest I have to say my top picks would be Pia, Jacob and James. All three have crazy vocal abilities that the others can't match and all are truely artistically talented as well. Casey is awesome and he is very, musically talented but he's not as great a singer as some of the others and I can do without the little growls he can't resist but stick into every song. Stefano is a great singer but has some maturing to do & I don't think he's found who he is yet musically...and he needs to work on his pitch issues. Haley...yeah, she's a great singer but I think she tries too hard...and I just find her very annoying for some reason (yes, I'm tired of her growling too). I really don't like country music so maybe that's why I don't "get" the excitement over Scotty. In my opinion this boy's vocal range is minimal, except for that one really low note he likes to show off in almost every song, and even last night's song seemed very safe to me. He sang it very well and I suppose it surprised everyone he could actually sing something different than the usual but he barely deviated around the same notes throughout the song and I just wasn't impressed. I have to say Paul is not the best singer of the group but then he has his own style, too, which I respect. The past several weeks I've watched him and thought, "why is this guy even on here"? But last night, yes, he rocked it and owned that song...I actually loved it.

  19. Just Saying

Paul's voice reminds me of Al Stewart. I like Haley's voice, but agree there is a bit of overgrowl. I enjoyed James' rendition of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and while not a big country fan, I can appreciate Scotty's wonderful voice. Not feeling much love for Jacob, his voice sounds thick, harsh, and forced. Stefano belongs in the bottom three as well, his performances are uninspired, and his voice is painful for me to listen to. I know everyone loves Casey, but I would have liked to heard a more raw sound to his Have You Ever Seen the Rain. It sounded to "pop-ish" and bubblegummy for me last night. Pia began to come off her pageant podium, but reminds me of a Katherine McPhee.

Who ever chose that Will.I.Am to be mentor should be evaluated. This guy added so little, and at times appeared to give advise to hurt the contestants. I imagine the only time he will be in the R & R HOF is when he buys a ticket. Just Saying!

I can't help but think that people saying that this year's contestants are the worst ever must not have any musical background. I certainly have my favorites, I think a couple are banking on the wrong genre, and several need some serious stage presence coaching, but in pure musical talent the level of these 9 as a group easily surpasses the top 9 of any other season. It's not even a contest.

People! First: the overal talent this year is better than previous years; Second: Paul goes. Apart from the fact he is by far the worst "singer" of the bunch, if I can't understand the him (even though I know the words) then he's obviously more into himself than his audience; Third: from here on in it's a crapshoot. The rest are all talented, have their strengths and weaknesses, and so now it is only a question of who can muster the most support rom his/her fans. You're all very welcome.

This doesn't seem to be a popular opinion, but honestly, I say this every week – Paul has so much talent! I think his sound might be kind of an acquired taste, but I love it. I would buy his album. And Casey? Man, I LOVED him last night! I could listen to him sing all day long! Scotty is AMAZING. Lauren Alaina is also going places. Those are my top 4 favorites – as far as who stays and who goes, I have NO idea. James didn't really do it for me last night, I think Stefano should be in the bottom 3 and either Hayley or Pia. I think everyone is great – it's hard to make these picks!!

Pia, Scotty and Stefano were the best last night! Pia really rocked but I agree with the judges that she has to learn to move. That's her only weak point. Scotty is great. Period. Wonderful voice and can sing anything. He did a wonderful tribute to Elvis last night and even sounded like Elvis in a few places. Stefano really brought it home last night. Great performance and I like his style and voice much better than the remaining male singers. Paul was awful. He butchered that Johnny Cash song. I can't imagine what Johnny would have thought if he were alive. It was much too frantic and he didn't have the voice for it. Paul would have done better with a Jerry Lee Lewis song if he wanted to give that kind of performance. I liked Hayley but still believe Pia, Scotty and Stefano are the top three. Jacob would have done better with a different song. I would have liked him singing Luther Vandeross. And that Casey . . . well he should have just stayed home. What a dud! He must have lots of friends because I sure don't get the hype over him at all. I can't stand to hear him or watch him.

What do I think? I think this is by far the best year they've ever had. Seems having some rock stars as judges has massively improved the type of contestants. I was horrified when they announced J-Lo and Steven Tyler as judges, but man has it been worth it. More than any other year, this year is worth watching, and its been hard as hell to decide who deserves to win this year.

If J-Lo and Paula Abdul made it as pop stars ... any one of these 9 has a chance. Do any of them have a chance to be an Aretha, MJ, Mariah or Johnny Cash? No. But, given the right song - they could have their Debbie Gibson moment and make a little cash. They'd just better not blow it all in one place ...

Pia ruined my favorite Tina Turner song. She didn't get it. She can't get it- she has no soul or depth. She can sing well and loud and can punch it when told to- but she does not feel the songs. In that song the chorus is the punch, the waterfall, the fireworks display- she was traipsing around- with no idea.
First song by Jacob that was not overtly feminine- but his phrasing needed to be crisper.
Stefano- first time he didn't come off- excuse me for saying so- as a goomba.
    Lauren and Haley- eh
Casey and Paul- credit good choices and good performances. Both should front bands.
Scotty is just as cute as can be and so comfortable on stage- he'll kill in Nashville.
James- he has such a quality in his voice- in addition to the power- maybe even better than Adam Lambert.

Listen up all of you moronic posters: This is by far, unequivocalbly, the absolute worst season in the history of AI. There is not one, not a single one who could sell more than 3000 records. I dare anyone here to honestly compare any of this lot of losers to any of the top 4 in the past 9 seasons. That bid eared stooge is no rocker – he's a wannabe cover band wedding singer – and with those Dumbo ears and antenna hair he looks some kind of wild flower variety. Pia has decent...DECENT pipes but watching her is like watching some singer on the old Ed Sullivan show when I was a youngster. They all totally suk! And the judges are laughable at best. Steven Tyler just mumbles how great and moved he is (whatever); J-Lo tries but she's afraid to say anything truthfully negative because she's afraid of tarnishing her own diva image. Which leaves us to Randy. Dude, dog, dude, dog, Dude, dog, dude, dog, Dude, dog, dude, dog...I used to play bass with Journey (yeah dog, after Steve Perry left and they were nothing more than a tribute band!). Randy tried to be Mr. tough guy but in the past few weeks has softened up like a sissy girl scout. "Dude is in it to win!" Ahh, yeah dog, that's why they're there! It is painfully obvious that Simon is sorely missed and a much, much, much, much better judge of talent than this mis-matched trio of "judges". What a stinking crappy show this year. Once again, if anyone in this forum is over the age of 15 and has a compelling challenge as to why this pukey gaggle of contestants are worth a flip, I DARE you to challenge me. Other wise I am convinced you are all losers with no inkling whatsoever to judge talent.

Paul is a joke. can you imagine listening to more that 90 seconds of his voice, let alone a whole CD of his songs! and that Scotty, (AKA alfred e newman's twin) there are even links with their picture side by side. LMAO. those tweens that rushed the stage were set up to do that. His vocal range is limited and i am not sure that even country labels may want him because there are many country singers who already sing in that low range. Jacob's moral conviction would not let him sing the Marvin Gay song , yet he appers to be overtly gay and if so, wouldn't that be a contridiction of his moral beliefs.? He has a strong voice and a huge vocal range and will be a success but not the idol winner. Pia is boring, Stefano is trying too hard to be liked and he seems to play to the camera rather than the audience. Laurens is very good vocally, but needs more conviction that she can be a winner. Haley has the look and can sing but needs to stop the growling. She can go on to be a singing star with more coaching. James and Casey are just ok. I guess that in my opinion, there is no true IDOL STAR this year . just a nice group of somewhat talented people and one of them will be crwoned as the winner.

People commenting forget how the voting works. It's not how much you are disliked that gets you voted off, but how little you are liked. Not the same thing. Lots of people hate Paul, for instance, but he's also got rabid supporters. Same for Jacob and some of the others that have been getting the hate on here. Figure out who's getting the least support to see who's going off. Voting blocs will keep some contestants alive based on gender, musical genre, hotness and ethnicity as long as their singing is pretty good, which nearly everyone is. Scotty, for instance, can go a along way by being the best male country artist on A.I. in years. No one strong to split the country voting bloc with. My guess is that Stephano, Lauren and Pia will be the bottom 3 this week, with Stephano going home. Pia will only be in the bottom 3 because of a weak performance this week. Not taking future perfomance swings into account, predicting order of departure from here: Stephano, Lauren, Paul, Casey, Jacob, Pia, Haley, Scotty; with James winning it all.

What is up with everyone booing if glorious praise isn't heaped on these "singers"? The judges say everyone was great, but a year from now, you won't remember any of their names. 99 out of 100 people can't tell you who won last year. They are a disposable product, intended for immediate ratings. After they made hundreds of millions off of these kids, they give them a million dollar record deal, none of which, they will get. That is the costs of making and promoting and album that won't sell.

My personal favorites are James, Casey, Paul, and Jacob, sometimes Scotty – he a cutie but I'm not that big into country. Now, I'm no expert so I know a lot of people disagree with me, but I'm just giving my opinion! Anyway- to tell you the truth, I think every single one of the top 11 (yes, I'm including Naima because I think she can sing even though I don't think she was on the same level as everyone else) ...anyway, everyone in the top 11 will get recording contracts. They are all excellent singers and could be heard on the radio right now IMHO!

Apparently you missed the part where Mr Beck cancelled out of performing. He decided to bow out of the assignment, his publicist said, because there wasn’t enough rehearsal time. Travel delays interfered with the rehearsal schedule and he didn’t have sufficient practice with each singer. Yaeh, Yeah, whatever! It's the guitar, you just play!

So sad that so many of you don't see the charm and potential in Paul. I think he has a great voice - not classically great, but interesting. And he's one of the few that doesn't seem to take the whole Idol thing so seriously (Stefano, Pia and Haley anyone?). Jacob is obviously gay, which doesn't matter except that his mannerisms infect his performances. That turns some people off, so perhaps he's better heard and not seen. James proved last night that he doesn't have Adam Lambert's stellar vocals - don't know yet if it's less talent or his voice hasn't matured. Love Casey, but he still needs to find the right song. And agree - Lauren seriously needs confidence. Has she never heard herself sing? Scotty's a hoot - not my type of music, but the country moguls must be licking their chops. Biggest problem on Idol this year? The judges. Fun to listen to, but nothing is said. Can't Simon come back, even for a day?

Pia, Jacob and Stefano sing all their songs the same style. Pia sang Tina Turner and it still sounded like a ballad. Jacob sang Michael Jackson and it still sounded like gospel. Sefano sings all his songs the same way, just insert different lyrics. James did very well toning it down and doing a "softer" type of rock, showed he can actually sing without hitting the hisg end. Scotty rocked Elvis. Haley did good with Janis, still a bit to growly for me. Lauren showed more confidence and ability with her performance. Casey and his bass are rarely a letdown, last night was great. Paul's rendition of Johnny Cash was unique, I like his stage presence. He needs to find the right song style, I would like to hear him do "Rythem of Love" by The Plain White Tees.

Jacob is not the worst, however he is overrated. He's too one dimensional. Yes he does have great vocal range, but it's still one dimensional. He'll never sell a gold record.

Paul doesn't sing great, but neither does Rod Stewart. He's in that category. Either you like it or you don't. He might sell a few records, but he's not a star.

The rest except for Scotty, James, and Casey are good but not great. Of those three, Casey is the best overall talent but the worst singer (not that he's bad) and the least mainstream, so he'll go first. James' act gets old especially having seen essentially the same high pitched runs from Lambert a couple years ago, plus he reminds us of the Baltimore Foot Stomper a bit too much. Scotty is simply amazing and grows each week, plus he has crossover appeal, so I think he's going to win.

Scotty will be a huge country success. He does what he does very fine. And I don't even like country music. But he's ok.

He begins his performance w/ this inane greeting as if he is singing in a small club( which is where he has been and should still be) . I only got to watch some of it. As usual i loved Scotty, I thought he did Elvis justice, he is amazing on stage and is going places! I was sad that I missed James he is really growing on me. As for the rest, I really did not like Pia, I know I'm supposed to because the world does, but she sang TINA TURNER and just kinda walked around the stage.... everyone knows that isn't what Tina Turner is all about!! I thoguht she really fell flat... but the worst out of what I saw had to be paul.... you could barely understand half of what he was singing and it overall just was not enjoyable, my family talked over most of him because we just didn't enjoy it, while when Scotty is on the TV gets paused if any interruption is about to happen because we don't want to miss anything. Was Haley any good, I heard she did Janis Joplin, a personal favorite of mine?

Yes, all are far better than previous years. The show continues with these boring theme nights. Tyler is handed some meaningless glib things to say each week; Randy got a little better; Lopez is honest. When I think of these 9 and which one of these would sell significant records and have a career besides "I was on American Idol", I do not see anybody. Each of them can sell some records the first time out simply because of their celebrity but they will fade from memory fast.

Paul has been my favorite since the beginning! I will admit that his past 2 performances haven't been his best. He needs to find songs that suit him better. I agree that Jacob's performances are getting predictable. It's funny... they tell some people that they have to be versatile and sing different types of songs, but Jacob gets up there and sings the same thing every week and gets praised for it. I fear that Lauren won't find her confidence and will be voted off soon. Scotty is a cutie and has a great voice but his mannerisms are a little weird. James honestly didn't impress me with his song. I don't think yelling high notes is attractive at all. Pia is boring. Haley did a great job this week but I can't stand the growling thing she does. Stefano... he sounds fake. And, he sings the same thing every week. And Casey... he's very talented and I loved his song selection, but I'm not sure some of the younger crowd will appreciate it as much. My bottom three this week are Stefano, James, and Pia.

Paul is by far the weakest of the bunch. His voice is somewhere between Rod Stewart and a blender full of marbles. Scotty should have sang "Folsom Prison Blues", but Elvis' Rockabilly style also suits him. Lauren can sing almost anything well. She is potentially the next Carrie Underwood from AI. Haley is cute but really isn't that special. James is very good, but as someone else said, brings nothing new to the table. Pia can sing but really has no stage presence. All that said, I think the James, Scotty and Lauren are going to last the longest.

Another interesting evening. Seems to me most of the 9 are better than last year's entire crop. Maybe the year before, too.

James came way up in my estimation. I've been wondering if he could carry a tune; the types of "songs" he's done so far left it hard to tell. Way up.

Wish Haley, Pia and Scotty got better coaching on their mannerisms on stage. Haley and Pia float their arms around the way they were probably taught as little girls singing for school talent shows, but it's distracting. Use your body language to convey the message of the music; don't just wave around. And Scotty: great voice but what the heck is with those facial expressions? It seems, again, like the little kid at the talent show who knows the grown ups are watching.

Casey: Not sure if you'd sell enough records, but I'd buy one and i'd go to the concert. Just an interesting guy.

Steven: Nicer guy than I'd have thought, but useless as a judge. Can anyone think of any specific "work on this" constructive criticism he's given anyone in weeks? Paula II.

Randy: More honest than either of the other judges. After watching you just gesture and say "Dawg" over past seasons, I didn't think you had a place on the panel. Now I think you bring something to the table. I'd suggest you be a little more specific about something each contestant can actually DO to improve. You do that sometimes, but not enough.

Jennifer: I really think you're the best judge I've seen on this show. You could maybe toughen up a bit, but you do point out flaws, you do it in a nice way, and you are pretty specific about what each contestant can do to improve.

I thought she actually performed better than Piia for a change. Always have liked Jacob, but his performance was way too lackluster tonight. I thought most of them did a great job and it was one of the best shows yet. I got a kick out of Scotty singing Elvis, and Paul has never been my favorite but he kept a smile on my face throughout the entire Johnny Cash impersonation. Won't predict who'll be in the top of bottom 3, tho. I'll just say that I can't believe they ever tried to kick Casey off. What were they thinking? . For example, the judges hear the songs twice: once early in the day, and again on the night of the show.
They write their comments after the first performance. So those comments that you see from Randy/Jennifer/Tyler on Wednesday, they are on a script.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what the hype around James is about. He is not that talented, his only gimmick is his crazy high notes, but those were already showcased on the show by Adam Lambert, who's lower register is much stronger than James' anyways. As well, James doesnt necessarily bring anything new to the music world, his style is mostly old rock music, which is not what is big nowadays. I think the contestants that have the most potential to sell records and make it in today's celeb world and public eye is scotty (with his cliche but loved country voice), lauren (who has killer talent, could sing any genre and has the young person card) and paul (indi music is all the rage now).

James is who he is, and it just so happens that he's similar to Adam Lambert .. I doubt he's trying to copy him or anything. But I agree that he lacks the stage polish and musical polish that Adam had ... I think the age difference is part of that, James is about 5 years younger? I thought his version of "while my Guitar Gently weeps" was good, it showed he can sing, not just do the rock and roll wail ... and yet, there were points in the song where I though he could have thrown in some of his "voice power" where he stayed gentle ... it would have been more interesting. LIke Lambert, I think he depends too much on his "go to" hihg note ... this he needs to change up, he can go somewhere in the middle at the right times and make the whole song more powerful. (like Lambert did with MAD WORLD)

KRG is definitly not watching the same show everyone else is! James, Scotty, Haily, and Pia are the best and will be the top 4! Paul goes home tonight!!

I can't stand Paul. What is this ? A talent contest or a colgate addition. This guy should never have made it this far.

I agree. Scotty has to go. And Pia is the best singer even if her performance doesn't dazzle.

James is the best...everything he attempts he is amazing at...he gets my vote.

We were rooting for James at the beginning simply because of his Tourette's since my son also has Tourettes. However, with each passing week James impresses me more and more. I really hope he makes the finals so I can see him and Steven Tyler sing some Aerosmith together.

Scotty and Lauren definitely have a future in country music and James will rock the rock world.

I agree with Carol. My favorite, on every show has been Scotty. He has his own style, but is still country. He is fresh, wholesome and I hope he never gets caught up in the fame hooplah, like the others. They are all copying someone who is already famous, making them just one more. I would like to add that the people who are dressing the girls is doing a horrible job! Also, Jacob's white suit was 2 sizes too small. I never liked Paul and hope he gets dropped.

Scotty, Casey, and Haley all seemed to really have fun on the stage last night. As a major country fan, i'm rooting for Scotty all the way. Just because you win idol doesn't mean you have to stay in the pop business, look at Carrie Underwood.

Jacob Lusk needs to go, followed by Pia. Also, the Judges have not been helping Haley by encouraging her to fake-growl. She has a great voice without that forced gimmick. It's clear that Scotty and Casey and James are the originals of this year's lot.

Wow, Kay, I must disagree: (1) Jacob has an amazingly vast range and is expanding his style weekly and (2) Pia will probably be in the top 2 at the end. Her power, range, looks and quality of voice are really superior to the other women.

I'm predicting a James versus Pia final!

Wow! I agree with you 100%! Every song Pia sings sounds the same. She belongs on broadway, not american idol. Jacob makes me cringe every time I hear him. Gay gospel doesn't do it for me. Casey and James do something different every night.

You sir are an idiot. Sorry no way to pull that punch because I've never heard a more ignorant statement in my life. Even if you didn't like them personally you can't question the absolute perfect voices of each. No idol before has had the range of Jacob. I will even say no one has been close. There isn't a missed note through 3 octaves. What the hell are you talking about.

I couldn't agree more...Jacob is a Broadway singer...I'm so sick of his overdoing every song. Can't deny he has some serious pipes, but I don't wanna feel like I'm watching the church choir leader every time he sings. Bored to death with him. Pia has an incredible voice as well, but she just doesn't do it for me. I don't like her phrasing and I'm bored with her ballads too. Last night was a bit better but she couldn't chosen a better song IMHO. I think Casey, Scotty and James are the best.

I can't disagree with you more .... Jacob kinda freaks me with his over the top behaviour but he can sing. With the right coaching he could have a career. Pia has one of the best vocies I've heard ... she did a Mariah song and was one of the few who could actualy handle the notes! Too bad about Thia .. I saw her performance on America's got talent (youtube) and she did a Milkey Cyrus song really well (much better than Miley!!) and she was only 14 then!! ... she should have stuck with more modern tunes and put more soul into her singing, she would still be around. Paul has the least talent of the bunch and I am shocked he made the top 10. He's surprisingly comfortable on stage though and I think he's charming some girl voters . Hailey does not have the voice of a Pia but itls good, but she can mix up styles and she made me LIKE Bennie and the Jets (a song I've always disliked!!!) because she changed it up the right way. A lot of talent this year, I'm enjoying this season more than the last two when "dark horses" somehow won over much more talented singers.

OH, and SCOTT being original?? Are you kidding? He's a clone of most of the "deep voice" country singers ... until tonight when he did a decent job on Elvis, he was indeed "a one trick pony". In my opinion, just slighlty more talented than Paul.

I agree that Paul's performance was the weakest tonight. He has had a bad couple of weeks. He is not the best contestant left, but he definitely is not the worst. Paul needs to pick the right song – and he can compete with some of the better contestants. I think that Stefano has had it coming for a few weeks now. He is painful to watch. His song choices are embarrassing at best, and he might be the most insincere contestant in idol history. I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

Paul was the weakest player this week. If he stays it will be because of his placement last in the lineup. Week after week he's falling farther behind the pack. Note to Randy and Jennifer.... Natural Woman is a Carol King song borrowed by Aretha.

Actually you are wrong. Natural Woman was written for Aretha by King and Aretha recorded it in 1967. King sang it in 1971. This song has always been associated with Aretha first and foremost.

I disagree. I think all of the guys blew the girls away this week. I'm actually getting sick of hearing Haley make that snarl in her voice when she sings. It's getting to be a bit too much for me. I think she is overdoing it!

I am not a Paul fan AT ALL, but last night he did the best he's done. That being said, it was a super easy song that had about 3 notes to it. He needs to go.

@greenebud I agree with your statement (sort of). Carole King and Gerry Goffin co-wrote the song. Aretha sang it in 1967, Carol King sang it on her Tapestry (1971) album. Cheers!

Why is Paul still on the show? I haven't seen a good performance from him yet. It was physically painful for me to listen to him last night. When I heard the judges reaction, I had to wondr if they just watched the same performance I did. I'm sorry to be so critical, but Paul simply has a terrible voice, no breath control, no modulation control, and is usually off key. He should have never gotten through the audition process.

@Kevin- Are you in music? I have only heard good reviews from the judges about Paul and I personally love his singing and think he has a very original sound. There are a lot of other voters than just you Kevin – so, maybe that's why he's still in???

I agree with you Kevin. He's not all that great. I was kind of interested with his talents in the early stages but last nights performance finally got me off his band wagon for good.

I was going to do that too, I really regret it now.

      Scotty McCreepy stinks
Lauren is a a bore, no star quality
      Jacob is a freak
Paul sucks so bad I want to just smash his guitar on his point scraggly head everytime he opens his freaky mouth, but I wouldn't waste my time or energy.

Pia is incredible, I encourage everyone to buy her CD if she still records after this disaster of a show FOX wasted our time with, never watching this piece of garbage American Idol ever again, can't wait to see The Voice on NBC!! April 26th.

Pia is good, but last night as we watched, we knew she was gone. She should never have attempted Tina Turner. No where close! She could have done better if she did something else, but not Tina Turner. Her biggest mistake, and with judges who could not be honest, she was over confident. I seriously wondered what the judges were listening to as they praised her .. incredible.
