Sean Hayes is the latest 'Stooges' addition

The Farrelly brothers said they planned to start shooting their “Three Stooges” film in April, and it looks like they’re trying to stay true to their word.

Following the announcement that Will Sasso has joined the cast as Curly comes news that former “Will & Grace” star Sean Hayes will play Larry in the comedy, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Both Andy Samberg and Paul Giamatti have reportedly been in talks for the role, with James Marsden being the latest actor rumored to be attached to the part.

The job was initially thought to be going to Sean Penn, with Benicio Del Toro and Jim Carrey playing the parts of Moe and Curly, respectively. All of those names have since dropped from the feature, which will consist of three 27-minute shorts.

Johnny Knoxville also appeared to be in the running for the still-empty role of Moe, but he announced back in March that he wasn’t taking the job. Last week, "The Simpsons" star Hank Azaria was considered to be in the lead for landing the part.

Considering who’s already cast, who do you think should take the role of Moe?

You can't redo the Three Stooges. I was just watching an episode this morning about them staying a hunted mansion overnight because Curly supposedly inherited millions of dollars from a rich relative. He only inherited 67 cents and my stomach hurt so bad from the laughing. I do like Will Sasso as Curly, but Sean Hayes as Larry will be interesting. They might do some serious make-up to make him look like Larry. They need a sarcastic, yet funny actor to play Moe.

I would take Carrot Top for Larry, John Goodman for Curly, Charlie Sheen as Moe.

IMO making this movie is just stupid and a waste of some awesome talent. Sean Hayes is such a good actor. I don't get it.

I agree, horrible casting. If they don't change the actors this movie will be a flop. Sean Hayes as Larry? This must mean every actor in Hollywood must have turned down the part as well as the other parts as they are having a tough time filling the roles. Whatever the Farrelly brothers are smoking, please get me some.

Then Tom Hanks was considered, followed by Bradley Cooper, Tom Cruise, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Kline, Woody Harrelson, Ian McKellan, Brendan Fraser, Ashton Kutcher, Sean Connery, Michael Keaton, Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight.

This movie is going to BOMB and this circus act casting process is only making matters worse.

Wow, awful casting. But then again, the idea to make this movie was awful to begin with.

I love Sean Hayes, but I am not seeing this as a good fit. Is anyone else confused by this choice?

WHAT? Sean Hayes? From 'Will & Grace' ? I am sorry but I cannot see this as good casting. Get unknowns if you have to. They MUST look, sound and act like the originals as close as possble, otherwise it's just not going to work.

I disagree. The closer to the originals, the more we will feel thay failed to be the originals. This needs an absolutely fresh take or there's no point. Want them closer to the originals? Go rent the originals.
