'Idol' Top 11 redux: So did we love it?

I'm still stunned over the kudos for Haley.

Sometimes I wonder whether the judges are hearing the same thing we are as we watch along at home.

Anywhoo, the performance show is done, and I'm anxious to hear what you thought of Elton John night? Will it be hard to send two people home this week? Any predictions on who those two people might be?

I'm going to be on pins and needles during elimination. Don't forget to join me here live while I blog the results.

Peace out "Idol"-ators!

I think all of you girls criticizing Pia are a bunch of jealous CORNBALLLLLSSSSS...How long did Alicia Keys just sit on her piano and do nothing but sing and play the piano? I was at her concert in Jones Beach and she did not dance once and all I wanted was to hear her SINGGGGGG...because her songs and voice were amazing..she then added movement to her performances, but talent was there..this chick Haley annoys the crap out of me..she is not talented and her and her cheerleader friends need to hit the road..she also smirked when Pia got voted off..I hate her!!!!!! and her Elton John performance was AWKWARD..Randy Jackson needs to stop repeating DUDE so many times and needed to realize that by saying she was the best performer of the night, during the Elton John night he looked like a FOOOOOOLLL!!!!!

I think that this year is fabulous and that's because the judges all have been performers. They know how to select talent. Simon always ridiculed the contestants, and the judges didn't put through the best talent to begin with. I was driving home after going furniture shopping with my husband yesterday afternoon. I have a new SUV which has a SYNC system. The technology is brand new and sometimes there are quirks in the system. My iPod is sunk into my car and Clay Aiken came on singing all the songs from his season. By the way, he's extremely handsome, and it was only for a short while on Idol, that he was a bit geeky looking. My husband and I listened to "the voice" and there's nobody on that show that can compare to his vocal expertise. The way his voice effortlessly hits those high notes is remarkable, and he has a gorgeous lower register as well. There's just something very special about the quality of his voice, and I can't find another artist to replace him. Scotty is going to get all the Clay Aiken votes, and he should, because he's humble, respectful and extremely talented. He reminds me the most of Clay, because he knows who he's as a performer and doesn't deviate. Though, there will never be another Clay Aiken, Scotty will be famous as a country singer and will be the "new" Garth Brooks, and I hope the next "American Idol."

Stefano and Hayley. He can't really sing unless his eyes are closed and I feel like she's always screaming at me. Just sayin.

I think Naima, and probably Thia are gone tonight. Wouldn't be shocked if Stefano replaced one of them, but I think its between those 3 based on last night. James is my favorite, along with Casey. I can't stand Jacob, he is so dramatic and looks constipated as he is over-singing all his notes. Pia-boring as heck. Paul is too weird for me. I like Lauren, and Haley grew on me after last night. I like Scotty, and he will have a good career, but he is too one-dimensional to win the whole thing.

Jacob is a sweetheart and has the most powerful voice, but I cannot watch him sing. His face keeps shifting around; his lips disappear when he opens his mouth. I think Lauren Alaina is the "whole package," but she's seemed kind of deflated ever since they (unjustly) criticized her Shania Twain performance a few weeks ago.

Naima has to go....I don't get her direction or why she would do a 360 on such an awesome song. Thia...needs more life experience to feel the music the way that the judgrs want her to.

Naima and Paul should go - followed closely by Haley. Nothing in her performance last night felt real - she has a strong voice, but her growling is laughable. Everything about her feels like a high school musical.

I think Naima needs to go, but I'm not sure if she will. I think she has some kind of strange cult following – kind of like Sanjaya. I'm not saying she lacks talent, but compared to the others she has the least amount. I think Stefano's time is coming as well. I think he has a nice voice, but he just doesn't "wow" me. I think Casey is a musical genius and Paul is so wonderfully different and talented, I want both of them to stick around. For the girls, they can all go as far as I'm concerned EXCEPT Lauren who I thought did a wonderful job last night. By far her best performance yet! Oh, and I LOVE Scotty. I don't care what you think about country music – that guy is going to be a HUGE star.

Lauren Alaina is one of my favorites. I couldn't stop laughing during Hayley's performance last night due to the buh buh buh buh bit. I know Elton did it, but it just wasn't the same, and it definitely wasn't good. Pia and Thia, along with Jacob, would make great church soloists. Nuff said. Stefano sounds like a lounge singer. I like Scottie, even though he is somewhat limited. Paul's main attraction seems to be that 1000 watt smile. Casey was somewhat better last night than last week, but still not all that. Naima at least tried to make her song sound like her own, but I can't say I really liked it. Reggae is not my fave. What's up with the judges by the way? They are being so, so kind. Randy seems to be the only one even trying to be constructive. If Jennifer doesn't quit saying "amazing" I may vomit. And Steven seems to have just kind of checked out lately. Whatever Randy or Jennifer says, whoever says it first, he agrees. Where is Simon when you need him?

Who knows, but I'm gonna say Naima and Haley will go. I personally liked Haley's performance but I'm not sure everyone would get it. I didn't like Naima's performance last night, it seemed fake. I like it when she stays natural. Oh well...I'm really enjoying the season so far, I hate to see any of them sent home, but atleast they all get the experience to tour this summer.

Ok here's my take. Thia should be doing Disney voiceovers. That's about all she can sing. Her voice is too young sounding. I mean, she's young. What do you expect? Scotty tries too hard to get that country twang in his voice, and he sings out of the side of his mouth. He looks like a young George Bush with that smirk. Ugh. Paul was good on Beatles week in Vegas, but he's gotten worse. He has a whine to his voice that drives me crazy. And he dances like Martin Short. Jacob is a drama queen. And he sings through his nose! It's horrible! Lauren is so cute and goofy. And I really think she's got a great voice. Loved her last night. Stefano is AWFUL and I think it's kinda gross how JLo drools over him. Pia has a great voice, but she really does have to do something other than ballads. At first I thought James sounded too much like Adam
Lambert (who I can't stand) but now he's growing on me. Hayley is just plain weird. Don't like her. Casey is my favorite. I have to say he had a few bad weeks where he did that singing-through-his-teeth-gritty-scream thing WAY too much. But last night was good. I just went back and counted and I had only talked about ten contestants. It took me three times to realize that I forgot Naima. Yeah. That shows how much I like her. She's trying too hard to be different. Don't like her.

Wow, a lot of criticism. I've grown to like Naima more and I thought a reggae version of that song was very cool. I love James and feel that if he were to win, what a feather in the "caps" of the "handicaps". He has challenges and he really can sing beautifully as he has shown. I think Hayley is incredible, unique. Pia is the beauty queen type but seems about 40 years old in her delivery. Not that being 40 is bad. I am enjoying this season a lot. Last season was the first time I tuned out halfway through. What a bunch of sleepers! I think Paul is annoying, sorry, Jacob is starting to get on my nerves, everything is over the top. Very interesting and enjoyable show this year, despite Simon's absence.

I tune in to watch James and Naima as both are original and energetic. Let's face it. We like music that suits our own preferences and I like edgy, creative music that gets me to move and get lost in it.

I find that many of the performers, although with good voices, range etc are just not ready to bring the house down. They are not memorable performances.

Since I am not really a country fan save for the Dixie Chicks and Sugarland. Most country singers are somewhat boring to me.

Hayley finally broke out last night and it showed. I was glad she repressed her yoddles.

OK, so I just DON'T GET THE CASEY THING, he gets the save this early on and then they announce that it will be T-11 instead of T-10 for the tour. Does he have a relative who is influential or connected to the Idol company because I just don't think he has the star quality. I do have to admit that last night I "kind of" liked his song but it didn't blow me away.
Pia is boring, lovely voice as we all know but a clone each week and no star quality to speak of. Niama has spark and with a bit of guidance and direction to get her to sing outside of her comfort zone (last nights didn't do it for me) – change the hairstyle and soften up her look and I think everyone will be surprised – if she survives tonight that is my suggestion.
James is great but he needs to show another side of himself – other than the high energy rock all the time.
Stefano – its a matter of time if not tonight.
Pauls voice makes me think of nails on a blackboard – time to get another drink when he is on. Tonight may be his night to go.

All in all I am struggling to keep awake each week – waiting for a real "OMG" moment with one of them and hope it comes soon otherwise I'm done.

My wish for cast off tonight: Casey.

Who can be an American Idol without mastering rap....I'm not talking old school rap, I'm talking about the new rap (or *rap) with variations of the same beat, nobody's 'singing' but instead they're just saying words that rhyme with a few words left out here and there (you know, 5 different names for the singers 'important' body parts of a girl and what he wants to do with it)

The frightening thing about American Idol over the years is that the judges/produces/handlers pick these songs or genres (Mototown, etc.) and these kids sing the songs as if they never even heard them before. Songs that have been classics songs for 30-40 years and these kids don't know the song, the original bands/singers or in what context and time/culture the song was made. Its like watching a TV news "anchorman" try to be a real hardboiled news reporter on when he is just reading something he is seeing for the first time as it is coming across the telepromter live. Same on AI. They learn it yesterday and sing it on TV today. Part of your talent should be initimately knowing your music.

I was encouraged when I heard the 'new' music during auditions, but the last few shows fell back into what we've been hearing for the last 10 seasons.... The judges continue to criticize the young ones when they don't sing age appropriate stuff, and then we have themes where they have to sing songs that were made before they gave their first breath. What's up with that?

Thia has a pretty voice but ZERO stage presence. No on will go to see her in concert. Sorry.

The blondish guy with the guitar sucks. Naima is fantastic and importantly she is original. I hope she goes far. The last blond girl to sing is great and she has the total Hollywood/People magazine look. Her song choices don't fit her voice though.

Didn't 'love' the sound, but I'm not sure if it's the sound tech's or the singers that make it sound karaoke. (There's a live band, but why does it sound like a tape?) Also, I really wish people would quit drinking alcohol or taking drugs while watching the show and voting for their favorite. Some of those singers should have been sent home by now. Paul's an acquired taste - love him or hate him ... his bad break was choosing an Elton John song the week before, then having Elton John week. My teenaged daughter swoons over Scotty. I don't get the Lauren and Haley love. Pia seems like Katharine McPia to me. With the younger contestants, it seems they don't take the coaching as well, and they don't know how to stretch their bounds. Final 5 whether they deserve it or not - Scotty, Jacob, Pia, Paul and James. Naima and Thia say goodbye tonight, perhaps Stefano.

Casey and James are far more interesting performers than anyone else. Paul could be a great performer, but his voice sounds so frail lately. Stefano and Scotty are not unique. Jacob has a good voice but he performs like a drag queen. No offense to him or drag queens but his body and mouth movements are similar to how a drag queen lip syncs and moves on stage.

If I had my way Stefano and Naima would be heading home. Stefano needs to find/start a boy band, his voice lacks the character needed to be a solo artist. Naima just doesn't have the x-factor, and her fake Jamaican accent was embarrassing. I totally agree on the writer's point about Haley, what the *heck* was J-Lo hearing? And it's not "BUH BUH BUH" Benny and the Jets! That was unsettling, she got it right once (I think the 4th time? or the 3rd) and the others were shockingly bad. Lauren was awesome, I've watched a few country music award shows and she sang as good as any live performance I've seen. Scotty was BORING, so boring, he could've interpreted a classic but instead he chose the only song that had the word country in it. Lame. Jacob is still strong but ready for his own material, his versions are starting to run into each other. Thia is adorable but clearly not ready for this. When Jimmy was talking to her she gave that blank "teenager" look, the one that says, "um, like, ohh kay." This is production, not a homework assignment. The rest were ok. James is getting very karaoke, not getting all the fan admiration, may be misplaced sympathy, of which I have absolutely none, should've found a guitarist and paid his dues.

Am I the only one who thinks Haley looks really cross eyed? Close up shots make it 10% worse. When she sings she growls so much it reminds me of a dog in heat. I dont like her singing at all. She doesnt dance. So whats left? Last night that prolonged ssssssssss at the end of the song was ridiculous. She looked like a cheap/trampish lounge/dive singer. She should gobhome fast.

Thia has a pleasant sing voice, but it quality is too weak. In my opinion she is the weakest link and should go home first tonight. For me who to send home after elimination of Thia is difficult. Being forced to make a decision the second elimination would be Scotty. Scotty has a nice county voice, but every song he sings sounds the same without any originality.

It's interesting there are so many comments about the youth of several of the contestants – and I tend to agree. But for this reason alone I do not understand why AI lowered the age limit – it makes no sense! Lower the age limit, get younger contestants, then complain because they do not have the life experience to "feel" the lyrics. Stupid. My take on the top 11: Paul won't win but is good looking, quirky, and different. Thia and Stefano sing relatively well but I find their performances but pretty shallow. Pia – beautiful but not very deep. Jacob way over the top – if he could rein it in he'd be awesome! Casey – he's okay, I kinda don't get his popularity. James – I agree that he needs to mellow out some – but I tend to like him quite a bit. Naima – not worth the initial save. Lauren sings well but she is just goofy when not singing. Hailey – I don't like her growling – she's trying just too hard. Scotty – he's okay. IMO:)

Top 3 would have to be Scotty, Pia, and Lauren. They all have incredible voices and I could easily see them in the industry in each of their music genres after the show. All of the artists are great, but the whole purpose is to have a star come out of the show, someone who can put out an album and stay in the spotlight for years to come like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. I think those top three have the best chance at that. Scotty will be a big time country singer either way. His voice is amazing and he has all the poise of a true performing artist (and at such a young age!). It all comes so natural to him. His performances remind me exactly of other fameous male country singers from the dozens of country concerts I have been too.

I think Pia is by far the best vocals for all of the girls but she needs to start singing some more current upbeat songs to show America she can be a current singer/star after the show.

I think Lauren's voice is sooo great for country! love her!

Thia has an amazing voice but she never sings anything that is fun or current either. For being so young you would think she would sing some more recent tunes! She has the potential to be in the top 5 for sure.

I haven't been too impressed with Haley in the past performances, although I think she has an extremely unique voice. I loved her performance last night. I thought the vocals were unique and she had a lot of courage to perform that song!

The smirky country kid and Jacob the Gospel singer need to LEAVE ~ they're so predictable and boring, just a one trick pony the pair of them. Naima is a train wreck happening in front of my eyes every week, she can leave tonight. Thia can go too, she's so deathly DULL all the time. Paul is quirky and weird but at least I look a tiny bit forward to what he's going to do. Stefano butchered one of my favourite songs with that camera mugging and general performance. Basically, leave me Lauren, Casey, James and get this show over in a week LOL

This season has bored me a bit. I mean, so many have such unique voices. None of them have had a wow moment yet, though. Pia can certainly sing; no doubt. But, I dunno, she has no emotion behind it. I hear girls sing like that every week at karaoke bars I frequent. She needs to connect to a sing, and make it happen. Last night Casey was the most connected to me. He stayed somewhat true to the nature of his song, but also added his own touch. Stefano has an amazingly brilliant voice, but again, he needs to connect. He may be better for broadway. Hayley has the most interesting voice for the girls. She is the only one that I'm curious to see what she does. It was still lacking slightly, but I would agree with the judges that it was the best female performance of the night. Thia...oh, Thia. I want her to do well, but I cringe whenever she comes on. She just has no idea what to do to make a song her own. She is too young. Lauren Alaina...loved her at the beginning. She was filled with confidence and swagger. Now, she looks so scared. I want her to come out and own it because I think she can. Paul...such a unique voice. I would love for him to pick the right song because he could make hits for the radio because of the uniqueness of the voice. However, it won't come from most songs; it is going to be something different. He hasn't done that yet and I am not so sure he knows how or what that is. I dunno...I struggle with this season. They are all good, but none have been spectacular. . Naima may be the most creative but she lacks the most vocally. Sad but true, because she is the one that if she had the voice, she would know how to use it. James, James, James. Kid can sing, and is a natural. But is soooo cliche. His tone and pitch are PERFECT. I can't imagine him singing a bad note. He wants it. He knows how to work it. But he works it like somebody from the 80's...like his idols. Unfortunately, it's 2011 and he is going to need to do something that defines himself beyond that amazing ability to hit those notes.

My 1st vote to go home would be Paul. Stefano, Naima or Thia to follow. Paul should stick with Rob Stewart only. Although I do like Naima's voice she is over-doing her performances. Stefano has a nice voice but not strong enough to win. And little Thia, beautiful voice but has lots of work to do. I feel no connection to her and her singing! Love Casey! Can't believe America could have voted him off! Love Lauren, James, Jacob and Pia. I do like the smokey sound of Haley's voice- don't think she can win though. I'm a nice guy so I'll say they all did fairly well. They sounded good on my theatre sound system and looked really good on my large screen HDTV. Each picked a song that best fit their style, etc. Casey cleaned up his appearance some but the beard is still there... not a smart move. It would have been a better move if he had trimmed it down to a goatee. That would have given him a truly fresh new look and be more age appropriate (at least more acceptable). His performace was better this time but I'm getting tired of his jazziness. I'm beginning to visualize Jimmy Durante when he sings!

I think it will come down to over-all performances over the past few weeks, in which case... I would say, "Paul and Thia, start packing!" Naima and Casey... don't get too comfortable. The weeks ahead will make it or break it for you two.

Naima should stay. At least she has showmanship. Pia on the other hand ONLY sings BALLADS and stands like a stick figure. Then promises "next week I'll show you I can be diverse". She's gotta go! NOT understanding why Paul is still there. His voice is unnerving. Maybe he needs his own songs that fit his voice. Sounds like Rod Stewart covering other rocker's songs (disaster). I don't like Lauren either. Has anyone else noticed that when Ryan asks her questions she anwers questions that hadn't been asked? She seems a little off to me.

Great show! Been reading some of the comments here. Stop with the unrealistic expections! Half of the contestants are in the 16 year-old range and have made it where they are because–since kids–they had great voices and could sing songs that made adults happy. So...don't criticise that they aren't emotionally connecting to one artist's pop music that's been around for 30+ years.

Paul is unique but lacks the range to pull an audience in to a concert-length performance. James is fresh and fun, Casey the most talented musician, Jacob the best singer. Pia is a beauty contest of talent and for what America wants will likely be the most popular.

After last week I have no idea who goes home.

I think it's time for Paul and Naima to head home. Paul sings half the words and slurs the rest and I'm not sure I've heard anything in tune yet. Naima is OK but the least talented of the rest left.
Pia has a nice voice, but zero personality. She's a pageant contestant; she has no connection to the audience or what she is singing. Stefano is trying... maybe if he opened his eyes more and didn't try to over-sing he'd be OK. Thia has a nice voice; but she just has not connection to anything at all... she bores me.
Haley did a nice job last night. I'd love to see her just sing a song and not crouch or throw her arms around... she's a blues singer and would do better in a small club atmosphere. Casey did better last night. He is so musically talented, he just needs to figure out how to perform and not come off so odd.
Jacob is a gospel singer. He is way way over the top when he performs; but I think he'll find success in the gospel world... but not as the American Idol. James has a nice voice... but last night it was more about the "performance" than the actual singing. Stop playing the part of the rocker and start just singing with added performing and maybe being yourself.... he comes off as fake to me.
Lauren – too bad that she believed her hype in the beginning and her head got so big that she became annoying... I wanted to like her. She has a nice voice.... maybe she can redeem herself; but I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen. The judges sure were trying to build her back up last night.... with every word I could see her head inflating bigger and bigger.... oh and the Kellie Pickler act is getting old too.
Scotty knows who is and the country world is going to embrace him big time. I'm not sure he even has to win this thing.
I'm not a fan of his very traditional country style... I like the more pop/country.... Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts and the like. If you believe Dial Idol he's running away with this thing... but who really knows.
Bottom line at this point I can't see myself buying anything that any of this group would be selling. I also don't see any of them being able to put on a 90 min + show by themselves.... none of them have the personality or the chops for that yet.... but it's early. None of them excite me enough to cast a vote.

No one else is saying it, so I'm just going to come out with it: Jacob. It's SO Jacob's time to go. I loved when Jimmy told Jacob, "Whatever you do, don't be overly dramatic," and then Jacob comes out on a dim stage, in a tight spotlight, and sings BIG on another BIG song, looking like he's going to cry (again) every second! What part of "Don't be overly dramatic" didn't he understand? For the life of me, I don't understand why the judges trip over themselves every week to praise him.
Enough Naima already too. And I've lost patience with waiting to see if Stefano, Thia, and Haley can bring anything else to the table.
Even though everyone is dumping on Paul, his unique voice and mannerisms are still keeping me interested. Now him I'd like to see do something a little different before I dismiss him.

Correct. There is no front runner. Just different styles for various tastes in music. So don't be hateful and bash someone because you don't like their style. They all have sometthing to offer. I really don't think the theme nights do most of them any good. Scotty should stick with country...each one stick with your genre and seek variety within those borders. It's almost more about presentation than it is about style. Remember most people watching are not musical nor are performers, so why do we think our opinions are valid? Because we buy music and go to concerts.
From that point of view the most entertaing are: Scotty, Casey, James. Pia and Thia are not exciting. Neither are Paul, Stefano, or Jacob. Haley was pretty exciting last night and Lauren could be more so. That leaves Naima who is doing a lot better, but will not have a wide enough appeal to win. Now you see, I've said it without being hateful.

I can't believe so many of you are harping on Paul. Hes extremely unique and he brings something different to the show as does Casey and Hayley. I don't think there is a single one of them that doesnt deserve to be there! They are all talented. Peoples choice this season is going to be left up to the sound you like. Casey, Paul, and Hayley have the folk appeal- and a definite stand apart sound to their voices. Pia, Jacob, Theia and Stephano have the pop star sounding voices or R&B, Lauren and Scotty are the country crooners, Naima is the funky singer and James is the rocker! Everybody brings something to the table and everybody sings amazingly, but people are going to vote based on the type of sound they like. Me personally its Paul, Casey and Hayley. But thats not degrading any of their talent.

And how much quirkiness and white teeth flashing could you stand from Paul? Stefano and Thia would put me to sleep. James & Casey would keep it interesting. I'd need ear plugs with Jacob and horse manure on my boots with Scotty. Haley –now she is always full of surprises -she fearlessly tackles songs from Alicia Keys to Elton John and doesn't just imimatate them, but puts her own stamp on them. She is one of the Idols worth paying money to see.

Don't agree one bit with Idol X-Pert and believe me I'm over 15 – 21 – 30. This season has blown me away. The talent is great and each with their own individual style. Naima's time is up. Thia's performance last night was incredible, so much from the heart. I keep wondering if Casey will really be going home tonight. Of course, Scotty is one of my favorites. Love that country music! I think the final three will be Pia, Scotty and Jacob. After reading some of the comments, I really wonder why these people bother to watch a show you don't like!

I thought the last contestant who sang, Bennie and the Jets, Haley? Anyway, I felt that she was really good and Lauren did an excellent job. I think Stefano could be really good if he could settle his nerves a little. The judges made a good decision saving Casey. It would have been a shame to see him go and the no-talent Naima get through. She absolutely slaughtered that song, and not in a good way either.

I don't get why anyone likes Casey. To me, he is an average singer and reminds me of a singing clown who needs medication. This was never more evident than after his save. He is scary. Pia is boring, but so was Carrie Underwood at first. I think that Pia will be in the top 3 left standing. Although I am not a country music fan, I think that Scotty has a great voice and is consistent. I also like Lauren a lot. I would like to see Paul and Thia go tonight.

I am not sure exactly what you are listening too, but Casey is great, has natural talent and you can tell he is just bursting at the seams with talent. He is truly original and a little bit of a throw-back to more soulful times. I for one can't wait to see what he does week after week. I hope he plays the base again. Love it? LOVE IT?? I absolutely abhor and loathe it. This year's contestants are the absolute, indefensibly worst in the history of the show. Paul is a complete stooge who tries (without success) to fall back on this only strong "suit" – his white flowered suit! And Steven Taylor (as Stevie Wonder called him last week) called him out on it last night! And what planet is Naima on? Trying to sound Jamacian in her stupid, self-indulgent reggae version of what ever the heck she sang was just plain, well self-indulgent. (Sorry CLAUDIE, but you are an idiot). And the country boy; yeah, awesome dude. The Oak Ridge Boys called from the assisted living home – they want the baritone vocals back. The cute little Javone; too much lipstick dude – no substance (like season 8's winner, the likable but FORGETFUL Kris Allen). Pia, Barbara Strisand; Connie Francis; Crystal Gayle – what's the difference except they all apeal to OLD PEOPLE! And that big eared, pointed head stooge of a "rocker"... What??!! He wouln't cut it as a sidekick in the insipid move "The Rocker" with the Office's Rain Wilson. I mean did Steven Tyler REALLY say what he was feeling? He had to be laughing on the inside. Aerosmith has shared the stage with great rock and roll singers for over 35 years and that stooge had the gall to prance around Tyler like HE can rock? That kid is a joke! The 2 blondes are just OK. Thia MaGhia is gonna be gone-ia. Jacob: awful tonality to his voice. Very very very very typical curch singer that can be found in any church in America on any given Sunday. And Grizzly Adams (Casey) – dog, dude, dog... you peaked 4 weeks ago and you are not even that good. Randy likes you ONLY because you both play the bass. Now that's what an American Idol makes! Did I leave anybody out? Probably because every contestant is FORGETABLE! I dare anyone with any sense of musicality to intelligently challenge my truthful convictions (unless of course you are a 15 year old thus spare me).

I must agree with you on most of your critique's – However on at least 3 you were; well as Simon would say "Self Indulgent"! First – Scotty – Awesome singer and if your only fault is his tone is like that of the Oak Ridge Boys; Well thats quite a compliment, that you attempt to pass as an insult! Especially considering they are still one of the best known Country acts around. Second – James; is one of the best on the show! And yeah, Steven did say it – dude is awesome, and he should know! James has always shown respect to Steven and everyone knows imitation is the best form of flattery – although I don't really see James as imitating Steven at all! James is very distinct in his range and controlled at all levels. Third – Javone – Really? Dude, as a so-called X-pert, I guess you missed the part where he never made it past the first round!!

The show needs a (winner who can be a) credible recording artist that can sell like Kelly and Carrie. The only ones who can come close to doing that are: Pia, Lauren, Scotty. May be James and Stefano. Other than those five, I don't see any of the others making it to mainstream.

Lauren and Haley are "average" singers! Why do the judges NOT see this!! Scotty has turned "Motown and Elton" into Country. Everyone is picking on Naima, but she delivers a "fresh-creative" performance each week, unlike Scotty. IDOL is a SINGING contest, and Jacob and Pia are the best SINGERS!! Honestly, can you think of a better singer than them?? Correct? OK, no more saves, Lauren and Haley need to go tonite. Then, Stefano, Paul and Thia. Thia has a great voice, [much better than Haley or Lauren] but, she is young and predictable.

Wow Wow Wow!!!!!! most of u guys amaze me, i can't believe that our horizons are SOOooo narrow, we are not diverse enough to appreciate other Genre of Music, whats wrong with Reggae, and what's wrong with Rastafarism. Naima is not imposing anything on anyone, she is just a courageous young lady , adding a different flavor to the show. I applaud her for taking chances, and she may not have the best voice, but she ROCKS!!!!!!!! PLEASE QUIT BEING SO NARROW MINDED. The talent is exceptional this year, very unique vocals and all. Its hard to say who is leaving but i can say who better not leave or who most likely wont leave: Jacob, Jason, Pia, Naima, Stefano and Casey. Those six rock the most.

I think Pia should go. She thinks she sings better than she can and I don't see her as a pop star. I can tell the judges are like "neeext" Randy told her, yea you can sing we know that but I think she is just singing each song exactly the same even with the same poses. This also goes for Pia, it is the same exact thing week after week. Paul was a little dull last night but there are some people that over exagerate like Jacob and Casey soooo hmmm. I think Haley and Casey did very well. Tough songs to sing, but they did well. I think Naimi and Paul should go. I agree with Randy, the Reggae twist on it was just corny! Thia did well also, but I have a feeling that if she does not pick a fast, upbeat song next week, she will be in real trouble. Agree with others that the judges seem very passive this year and a bit out of touch with what we are seeing at home. I bet they think differently when they watch it back after the show. It was a weird night. Some Elton songs suit certain voices better than others and while Haley didi do a good job, she was not the best of the night. Pia once again blew them away (ballad or not) and Jacob did great again with a sad song.
It's time for Adapo, Stefano, Scotty and Paul to go home and then Thia and Casey.
It is now clear who should be the top 5. In order of best to worse...Pia #1 Jacob #2 Lauren #3 Haley #4 and Jason #5.
The rocker is getting old (Adam Lambert has already didi it best) Haley has a unique vocal and song selection is her key. Lauren has country recording artist potential (similar to Kellie Pickler) Jacob will be recording for some label soon (perhaps Luther Vandross label?) and Pia will be fought over by several record labels (get her primed to take over as Celine Deion faces retirement). BUT the american voters are very fickle and don't always see talent ...but winning won't matter to Pia and Jacob -just sign on the dotted line.

I don't understand how you could not love Haley's performance. I am a HUGE Elton John fan & found it hard to listen to alot of these covers but I think Haley nailed her version- as did Casey & Pia. I did not think that Thia did very well, and I found Naima to be incredibly annoying. I love reggae but her campy version did not do it for me. James was entertaining but I didn't love it. I feel like Stefano is really trying but Tiny Dancer was just a bit too much for him to tackle- I didn't really like it. I love Jacob and his voice but he does always look like he's about to break down crying, I'd like to see him be passionate but not overly dramatic just once. I loved Lauren in the beginning but I think her immaturity and age is really starting to come out. Her voice is amazing, but she's too pageant-y and her comments leave something to be desired. I don't believe her when she sings. I appreciate Scotty's desire to stick to what he loves but I would personally like to see something just a little different. I'm kind of bored with him now. Paul is adorable, I liked his version of Rocket Man, but he never seems to blow me away. I don't see him lasting much longer.

Personally, I think Naima and either Stefano/ Thia deserve to go hom this week.

Simon used to ramp up his critique...as you get closer to the top, of COURSE they're all good. But you're supposed to compare the performances, not keep telling everyone how wonderful they are. @ M&M – the singer makes the song – not the other way around! Besides; each singer chooses the song, AI just gives a catagory. It's the singers job to make the song thier own; not mimic the original. How many country songs has a R&B group remade to fit thier style, and vice versa! It's the singers that make it great, and if these Idols can't do it, then they should go home!

Scotty – all country all the time, but good at it
Pia – probably best pitch of the group, but getting boring to watch
Naima – comfortable on stage, better performer than singer
James – good performer fun to watch, needs to stick to rock
Thia – nice voice, better singer than performer
Haley – better than average karaoke singer
    Casey – average karaoke singer
Lauren – needs to sing country songs instead of adding country to every song
Paul – voice keeps him from being very diverse
Jacob – muffled and sort of nasal, stick to church choir
Stephano – seems disconnected from audience

    Interesting year.

Jennifer: Probably the best judge, though it's a tough call between her and Randy. Usually says something nice, sometimes gives a little something to work on, then something nice. Good technique. Though tonight she was mostly just saying nice stuff.

Randy: Probably the most honest judge. At first I thought he was trying to channel Simon, but now I think maybe he just feels more free to express opinions than maybe in the past. (Always thought he was a waste of space before.)

Steven: Nicer guy and with more personality than I'd have thought, but terrible as a judge. Speaking of "channeling," I'm hearing Paula.

Paul, Naima, Haley: Y'all seem nice, but you're not going to win it and the masses aren't going to buy your albums. Enjoy the ride, but I don't see it lasting much longer.

Thia: Beautiful voice, but others have beautiful voices too. And I wish you'd have listened to the guy who told you to forget what they taught you about showmanship as a little girl. You don't have to smile when singing a touching song. You're right not to plaster your arms at your sides, but they don't need to float around as if gravity free, either. (Haley, you too.)

Jacob: What a voice! And what a story. But, man, the guy who said you could slip into being overly dramatic hit it dead on as far as I'm concerned. I always think you're going to break down sobbing. It's ok to stay with a particular type of music, but mix it up within that type. Sing something that rocks a litlte. Sing something that lets you smile. Not so many runs that we lose the great melodies the composers gave us. It's like putting diamonds all over a Porsche. Pretty, but not what the automaker intended.

Stefano: Sadly, I think you're probably toast this week. That's sad because I think if properly managed you're probably one of the few (if not the only one) who could actually sell albums if you were given original songs. Fantastic voice and the confidence would come after enough performances. But I don't think your'e going to get that far.

Country girl (Lauren?): If I were coaching you, I'd say stop hiding behind laughs and sass. Soemtimes shy people try to make a joke of everything, and I think you do that. You do it in your song choices, your response to comments from judges, pretty much whenever we see you. Serious up for a song or two. Nice job on "Candle" tonight. Do something else sincere, just to show us it wasn't a fluke. Don't paste that big smile on your face in the middle of a tender song like they taught you in elementary school. I suspect you have the pipes to blow this away if you can come across as sincerely interpreting the lyrics of your songs.

Rocker Guy: Sorry, I can't remember your name and I'm too lazy to look it up. No ill intention intended. You might be able to sell some records too. If I were a rocker, I'd probably love the heck out of you. I"m not, so feel free to ignore me. That said, just like the judges tell Pia and Thia to do something other than a ballad, you might try just once singing a song with a good melody straight. I don't know you really have to do that to win. Pop stars need to be able to do more than ballads, but rock stars fans are usually pretty happy with nonstop screaming. But it would convince some that you actually have the ability to carry a tune. With the type of music you're doing, it's hard to know if that's true. (I'll take my fiber and go to bed in a minute.)

Scotty: Great voice and great low notes. Your fans'll carry you through to the last few stages, maybe to the end, so you don't need my comments. But here's what I'd tell you. First, we'll appreciate those low notes - like Jacob's highs - if you don't show them to us every single time you sing. Don't do it once or twice, then when you hit us with those lows we'll sit up straight and listen, instead of yawning. You're a baseball guy; remember that the best fastball pitcher doesn't make every pitch a fastball. Second, listen to the comments Jennifer has made about acting being part of singing. Sing your songs like you know what they mean. When I watch you, it seems like you're thinking "Look at me. Boy, I'm gonna hit you with a low note now and you're gonna say I was great." Not so much conceit as immaturity. Then again, give it a year and you'll be able to buy and sell my sorry self ten times over. (But what about in five?)

Pia: Jury's still out on you. You have the whole package: breathtaking good looks, beautiful voice, perfect control, great style. I'm sure the boys and half the girls follow you around with slack jaws everywhere you go. But I can't see people buying your records. I agree with Randy; show us something else. You don't have to do country (though you'd probably kill 'em at it) or rap to prove you have variety, just do something with a different beat. I said Lauren needs to serious up in a song or two; I'd love to see you have fun with a song.

Casey: As an Otis Redding fan, you've been my guy. And I'm glad they saved you last week. But I'd like to hear more of what I heard in the the early stages of the show. The last few weeks you seemed to want to be a rocker, and I don't think that's you. Tonight you sang it too straight, without any of your unique style. Go sign some Ray Charles to get back in the zone where you shine. And lose the beard. By not cutting it tonight, you came across as timid. I don't think that's you.

Not that any of them will read any of this.

I'm a huge Elton John fan, so I had high expectations...

I am NOT big on Haley... but she was on point tonight, slayed it! Paul's Rocket Man was flatter than Thia's chest. Pia reminds me of the old adage "show me a hot girl, and I'll show you a guy who's tired of F'in her"... she bores me to death. Casey came back strong with a song most butcher.

Naima was the most original performance of the night ! She took a song and recreated it as a reggae tune ! The words could have been written and performed by Bob Marley! I couldnโ€™t believe that J-lo and Randy didnโ€™t applaud her for the best performance of the night! Go back and read the lyrics of the song and imagine Bob Marleyโ€™s voice singing the song. It sounds just like one of his lyrics ! Iโ€™m still standing could have been one of his greatest anthems ! Her performance is the only one of the night that I would buy ! Everyone else, with the possible exception of Jacob, just tried to imitate the Elton John versions of the tunes they chose.

I think either Jacob or Casey were much more deserving of the judges' call for best performance of the night. I've never liked Haley because to me, I think she's one of the contestants whom the judges and producers are trying to hype up (the other is Lauren). Jacob did very well as usual, and it seemed that Casey took the judges' advice after what happened last week. I HOPE America didn't buy into how they were "spinning" Haley tonight, and put her in the bottom three with Thia and Stefano tomorrow night. I would like to see Haley and Stefano go home, but after the judges' miscall (or whatever that was), it'll probably be Thia and Stefano to go home.

Oh, and I foresee the judges throwing out a second save sometime around the end of April to early May.

Naima and Scotty have talent but not in the broad spectrum. Scotty may still get a country recording contract nod somewhere. He bores me to tears. Thea is pretty and talented, but just not enough star power or unique sound there. Casey, Pia, James and Jacob have what it takes to make it to super stardom, with the proper handling. I actually think Haley did a great job with a tough, iconic song that ONLY Elton John ever sang. I really like her but apparently America isn't giving her much love.

The performers were good tonight, but could have been a lot better if the record producer had not interferred. He gives terrible advice and unfortunately most of the singers listen to him. In particular, I thought Thia, Casey and Haley did a poor job, based on the producer's advice. Even Jacob pulled back too much. Randy pointed that out, but didn't attribute it to following the producer's advice. I noticed that if a singer disagreed with the producer then he/she got a snarky reply. When Scotty disagreed, the producer said he was like a one-note Charlie. Well, what do you want Scotty to do? He's not a rocker. He doesn't sing pop. He knows who he is–he's a great country and western singer. This producer has got to go.

Scotty McCreepy (Howdy Doody) is really horrid, seriously, every dull song he spews sounds the same, exactly the same, boring, dull, mono tone drool. McDreary has no versatility, plays safe with every last dreary country rendition on every horrible, no talent, waste of time song he bores us with. Remember Taylor Nobody Hicks? some nowhere career he ended up with, McDreary is even worse! stop wasting our time. Then there's Rod Stewart boy, what is this guy trying to emulate!? he stinks! he's like a a bad lounge singer doing Rod Stewart doped on heroine, sad really sad. Then there is the guy who for some really strange reason got saved, he looks like Will Farrel in the hot tub skit on SNL, he is really awful, are the judges deaf? The reggae girl, she's got some talent but she thinks this is Rastafarian Idol, wrong country, wrong show honey, save the reggae for Jamaican Idol, this is American Idol.. Ok so the good, Pia is incredible, she is so pro already, can not even wait to see what she does beyond this ridiculous show, she is too good for this amateur hour, perfect pitch, perfect phrasing, timing, range, dynamics, the whole package. Stefano is really good, he just needs to chill some on certain songs, Haley has alot of potential but she is quirky, she needs to just stay loose and not over think her phrasing and timing and she will be fine. The rest all leave me lukewarm, don't really care about them much, well that's my two cents, I feel better now.

Jeff – last year's winner went on to put out an awkward, weird "hit" and no one knows beyond that. Adam Lambert didn't even win but is raking in the money, hits and booked solid on tour. Funny that we vote like crazy as if the 'top' winner really even matters.

Original Poster – okay, even though your post was pretty vicious, it was the first one that made me laugh out loud. My only disagreement is about Pia/Celine. She'd be a good lounge or cruise singer. You can tell who the men on this forum are because they all think she is top-notch with no performance flaws, whatsoever. Okay, I can't sing like her, even in my dreams, but don't think someone with that ego would ever give any of us lesser beings a second glance when she becomes 'famous' (or now, for that matter).

I think Clay Aiken had a great voice, but strange looking. Simon always got on him about his image. I think that Thia has the potential to be a really great artist, look at her now she is only 15. Pia is a Celine , cookie cutter singer, so is Stefano. I liked Karen Rodriguez, but she is gone. I thought Hayley did a good job tonite and she hasnt been my favorite. Ever wonder how Bob Dylan or Neil Young would do on AI? They'd probably have been cut in the tryouts and cried all the way to bank for the 40-50 years after. Variety and imagination have to go with some vocal talent and often account for more star power than the vocals alone. I agree. Some artists have been way too one dimensional, but hang on becuase their cliques like them. Cliques die out though like the fads of each season. It's better to burn out, than to fade away. I remember people saying they didn't like Elton cause he played the piano or Chicago because of the horns or Santana because of the Latin and World Music influence. Guess they knew a lot...

So relieved to read the first line of the article, because all of us watching were stunned as well. Even my 9-yr old boy who was only half-listening said, "All I heard was a bunch of screaming." What in the world were the judges thinking? And best of the night? I thought was clearly a bottom 3 performance. She's a good karaoke singer, but not a future star by any means. And she always resorts to the same cloddish wobble/stomp for movement. I was surprised that Pia chose another ballad when instructed to break out more. She could have gone much further and really wowed us all instead of putting on essentially the same show, different lyrics.

Well, that's one way to look at it, or dismiss it without trying to rebut, but my comments had nothing to do with their gender, only with their performances. I'm actually a voice teacher with a Master's and teach men and women equally. I chose to focus on those two because Haley closed the show and got the crazy comments (seriously, Randy?), and because Pia is one of a few who shows the most promise, but specifically did not take the judge's advice which means that as talented as she is, she's giving the impression she can't do anything other than what she's shown– big emotional ballads. I often tell my students facing auditions that people will assume that what you show them is all you have. If you don't show it, they don't know you have it. Pia may have "it", but she's not showing and so people are starting to believe that she doesn't in fact have anything other than the one thing she's showing week after week. Pia should continue on the show but show some flexibility in style, tempo, and mood. Haley, on the other hand does not have a career (or much of one) beyond this show.

Well if you're basing on someone sounding the same on whether or not they should go home then Scotty should and will be going home tomorrow night, along with Naima. Speaking of Naima, what the heck was she trying to do and why were the judges not brutally honest with her instead of blowing smoke up her butt?

yeah Stefano does kind of come off as a little self centered while he's singing doesn't he? The judges are getting way too sugary to me, we need someone more like Simon on the panel now. JLo and Steven are way too sugar coated.

Great performances tonite! As usual James rocked it. Casey excellent. Naima terrible as always. Cant believe she made it this far. That reggae sh!t aint working. Haley still growling like a dog in heat. What a way to tear up an Elton John song. Randy was WRONG! Overall pretty good show.

Thia and Paul should go home if voting was tonight. Thia's vibrato is wierd (she's young) and Paul's voice does not have promise for more depth like the judges think. I thought Haley's performance was oddly compelling, and does anyone else think Casey's diction is strange? It detracts from his musicality. Jacob was a victim of arrangement– and fog– and Pia just wants a Celine-type gig from all of this. James is a performer, but he won't be able to go all the way with that voice. Alaina and Scotty are looking like they have the staying power.

Stephano, James, Pia, Casey, all perfect pitch to me. There is a lot of show left, let's not be too judgmental just yet. Naima, Jacob would be my 2 picks to go for tomorrow night. After that no particular order, it should be Scotty, Haley, Paul, Thia, but the top 4 people who can really sing are: Stephano, James, Pia & Casey, Pia being the total package & most sellable.

Thea and Scotty. Thea is too young to 'feel' the songs and Scotty has done all he can do- he is where he will be so let him go so he can make his country record and let's see what's left in the tank for the rest of them.

And by the way- I love Paul. He's the only album I could see myself buying. I see him as this Bonnaroo playing- mix of Jack Johnson, G Love, Ben Harper but yet his own person at the same time.

Pia is BORING; great voice, but boring. She doesn't have the "it" factor. She also has already sung with Josh Groban so the fix is in as usual. You can tell by the way the judges react to her performances. I personally thought that the real talent was left during the auditions. I was surprised that many that auditioned, who in my opinion, were MUCH better than some of these so so singers, didn't make it, but this is a reality show and rarely the best win. You can't tell me that our of thousands upon thousands of great singers that auditioned that this is the best of the best. BTW, Simon Cowell already stated that he's looking for a Taylor Swift to win the x-factor, so don't think that your votes will count for anything. I was going to audition (46 years old) but decided that it will be a waste of my time. They already know what they want so standing on line for two days doesn't appeal to me.

I think it's funny how you gay-bash (excuse the politically incorrect term) on an American Idol forum, especially on Elton John night. If you are so concerned about manliness, I'm sure in your opinion (not mine) American Idol is not a very manly show... so take your own ill-expressed advice, man up, it will at least improve the quality of the dialogue in this forum, and stop hating.

I disagree, Jacob would have great potential if he would tone it down. The producer told him to tone it down and he did some, but not enough. Randy was right when he told him to pick one spot in the song to be the cilimax, he has too many climax's. He has to tone it down and stop being overly dramatic. He doesnt listen.

Then some clips that made it easy to put 2 and 2 together appeared on the internet and led to much speculation. At that point he wouldn't flat out lie about who he was, and I respect him for that. I also respect him for the work he has done helping gay teens cope with bullying with the It Gets Better campaign.

Definitely agree. Sure pia can sing...but she's nothing special. She's got "looks" which is what is getting her by, in my opinion. I think she is very vain. She thinks she has the show won..and I'm hoping that doesn't happen. She will never have my vote-too stuck on herself.
I like James-i know Adam did it better..(was a HUGE fan) but..James is the one that stands out to me-plus he's had a lot of hardships in his life..i'm glad he's making something of it!
I know..nobody seems to like Paul..but i adore him! He is not the best singer..and definitely won't win..but..for some reason..i have a little soft spot for him.
For the girls-she's young but i like Lauren. Some of her ditzy-ness strikes me as annoying sometimes..but..all in all she's been fairly consistant.
I do not like Jacob-great singer..i guess..but not for this kind of music. He needs to go gospel-nothing wrong with that-but..you have younger people voting-and the majority listen to hip-hop-r&b...not gospel.
Pretty good show this year-alot of talent-but boring. Wish they would do more stand-out performances. I too-miss simon-although..i'm LOVING stephen tyler. None of them have anything bad to say tho, EVER. I think more critiquing needs to happen.

I'm reading all of your comments and what you people are basing things on is ridiculous. It's a singing contest. Someone likes James because he's had a lot of hardships in his life. Someone else doesn't like Pia because she likes to get glammed up. Thia doesn't have enough life experience. Holy bajeezus folks. The vote is for the best singer. Pia is an amazing singer whether you think she's boring or not. And yes, she's beautiful. She'll be a big star some day. James is a great singer and good entertainer as well. And Jacob, however annoying his mannerisms may be, can sing like a dream. Yes, Naima is ghetto and and unappealing to america in her choices, but the reason she won't make it is because she's not as good a singer. I loved Paul in the auditions, but he proves every week he's not Idol material. More of a singer songwriter type quirky musician. And Hailey, though she's all over the place from week to week, can sing her butt off. I just wish she'd quit growling all the time. Because she can actually sing very well.

I agree she is the best singer, but not the best performer/entertainer. Certainly not a POP star. Rather she comes off like a serious singer/artist type. Great for a Las Vegas act, but she's not going to hit the pop charts/top 40 radio/i-Tunes market.

I agree – Naima – because it's her time, and Thia because she just isn't leaving any lasting impressions. The only song I remember her singing is "Colors of the Wind", and that's because I thought it was the most ridiculous song choice for her. Each contestant is making the rounds of selecting the worst possible songs for their voices: Casey – Smells Like Teen Spirit, Thia – Colors of the Wind, Jacob – I Believe I Can Fly, Pia – Celine Dions note for note version of All By Myself, etc. While some of them may be singing them well, they are just rubbing me the wrong way. Wrong songs, wrong show, wrong goal. You want to be a stand-out pop-star, so stop copying every Idol contestant before you.

I gree with RavensPIT. Naima doesn' have mass appeal and Thia is just not experienced enough – not her time. But, she will be back...just look what happened to Pia!!

I am so completely bored by every single contestant this season. Don't get me wrong, there is a ton of talent in this group, they just don't seem to be using any of it. Not even Pia. They continue to sing the songs that have been done a million times on Idol, and they aren't bringing anything worthwhile to their versions. Naima and Thia may be going home tonight – one for going too big, one for being way too safe. Haley was good when she let go and got into it, but it was still just so-so. I love this show, and have watched every single season. However, not even the Blake/Jordin season was this boring and unoriginal. It really does sound like – and I hate to be so cliche – a night of karaoke everytime they sing.
Now, for Tim- the "rocker. The screaming rock thing just seems like something he can do, not who he is. I wonder what his actual personality is like, since the rocker vibe doesn't seem genuine at all. It's like he's doing all of the things he thinks a rocker should do – make devil hands, set something on fire, run around the stage, wear a ton of accessories – but he's forgetting the one golden rule: be original while doing all of this.
Now – for Idol as a whole: it is far too early for Black Choir. That should be a finale thing only.

Pia and Casey should go! Pia is extremely boring – doesn't move and Casey just didn't do a good job last night.
Paul deserves to stay. Stefano and Haley were great last night!

The collection of talented singers is fantastic, making previous years look anemic and lame. Last night, Paul was the one and only performer who clearly doesn't have the pipes or energy to be a hit. He will go tonight. It is tougher to predicte the second person who will depart tonight. Scotty will probably be the other person to join Paul on the streets of LA searching fr an agent and producer. He has a great country sound but limited range, and appeal.Thia's voice is so pure and beautiful, but many Idol voters may bot be thrilled with her as a top performer.I would hate to see her go. Trimmed and clipped Casey was better, and he may have been able to rebuild a fan-base. Haley doesn't do much for me but many Idol voters like her style and appearance. Naima has talent, but her style often strays from my musical preferences preferences. When we get to the final 6, each departure will be as painful as root canal.

Agreed. I had Paul in my Top 5 back in Hollywood and he hasn't had a performance to my liking since.

Funny how we all see things different. I look forward every week for Paul's performance.
I think he is not just a singer, but an all around performer whithough trying so hard.
I can't get the excuberance over Casey by the judges, Can't understand one word he is singing about!
They all can sing, but an American Idol should be a entertainer too and look like one.

Jason if your so bored stop watching.

I'm thinking that Naima and Stefano's time has come. Really hard to say with so much talent.

pia is boooorrrring. Completely emotionless. Could you really sit through 45 minutes of her ballads. I think not.
I hate to say it but Scotty is gonna be the breakout artist of this bunch. Paul will get the cougar vote so he'll be around for a while

Right you are! Great talent this year but it's time for Paul and Naima to both go. Glad they used the save last week Casey is awesome! Pia wonderful ~ I predict these two will make it to the end.

@critique – exactly the opposite of my thoughts – Pia is the best singer there but needs to shake it up, Casey is very talented but way boring in a Taylor Hicks kind of way.

Outside of these two, everyone else just sort of beat up their renditions of classic John songs.

And, finally, after so much promise, Steven Tyler is a pantywaist who caouldn't make a critical comment to save his life...Randy has to prod him most of the time to get him to say anything. And please stop with the inappropriate comments to underage girls.
