Casting call: More 'Three Stooges' buzzHe's played his share of heartthrobs, but could James Marsden play a Stooge? We may soon find out. The "Hop" star is the latest actor attached to the Farrelly brothers' upcoming "Three Stooges" movie. Though it was rumored that "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg was being eyed to play frizzy-haired Larry, Deadline reports that Marsden is currently a contender for the part. "MadTV" comedian Will Sasso has officially been cast as the bald-headed Curly in the PG comedy, while "The Smurfs" star Hank Azaria is the frontrunner for Moe, a role Johnny Knoxville had been linked to. As Marquee previously reported, the "Three Stooges" movie — which consists of three 27-minute shorts filled with the trio's typical nyuck nyucks — is slated to begin shooting in April. The film was to star Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro and Jim Carrey as Larry, Moe and Curly, respectively. Both Penn and Carrey exited the project and Del Toro was, until recently, a question mark. "We got everything in place, but we don't have the cast yet," Bobby Farrelly told CNN in February. "But we're looking diligently. There's a lot of good guys out there." Peter Farrelly added, "We don't want to make up our minds until we've seen everybody. We want to be fair about it." What do you think of Marsden, Azaria and Sasso as Larry, Moe and Curly?

you can not remake the stooges its impossible leave their work alone and enjoy what they left us! stop trying to make money off other peoples work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guys who are being considered are at least comic actors (with the exception of Marsden). Penn, Del Toro, and Carrey would have been ridiculous, although Carrey at least does comedy. The idea is to have 3 funny guys, not 3 big shot celebrities, do this. With the Stooges, the comedy came first, that's why they were so great. They will never be duplicated, they are unique.
Remaking The Stooges is a dumb idea and Im sure the execution will be even more dumb.
If you're not even going to try to get the actors right, why bother? You will incur many lifetimes of bad karma if you f#*k this up!
Doesn't matter who plays who, it won't be the same.
Will Sasso as CURLY??? Are you joking??? Part of the charm of the Stooges was that they were three small guys against the world. Will Sasso is SIX FOOT THREE! He's going to look like Baby Hughie against Azaria and Marsden. What happened to the Farrelly's undying commitment "it can't just be some actor's take on the Stooges, it has to BE Curly, Moe and Larry"?! That was their only chance to make this work – authenticity. Now it's going to be another over-the-top Hollywood remake. I was so excited for this movie when I thought they would go with unknowns who looked and acted the part. Was so looking forward to someone nailing the Curly thing – not an ex-sketch show lummox doing an ill contrived nyuk nyuk and woob woob. Doesn't anyone remember Sasso doing Curly on MadTV? Torturous.

That's crazy. Wasted money.
This film has almost no chance of working I think that's why most actors are bailing from it. If you're a fan of the old stooges, chances are you're a fan of the original actors, not the concept of 3 stooges. It just will not work with 3 new actors.
I've heard all the csting rumors and so far have yet to see one single casting call I could rally for.
You have actors who are not know for their comedic prowess being billed to play three of the funniest roles in Hollywood history. Somehow I just don't see how this will work out.
All right you wiseguys! Don't you dare mess this up, or Moe will poke your eyes out and Larry will take a blowtorch to your a$$!

As for the movie, one has to question why all the big stars ran from it.....
It should star Sean Penn, Brad Pitt and Tim Robbins, and it could be called "The Three Liberal Stooges"
