Whoopi Goldberg: I was high when I won my OscarWinning an Academy Award was definitely a high for Whoopi Goldberg, who has admitted that she was on a little something when she accepted her 1991 Best Supporting Actress Oscar. In a clip from a 1992 recording session obtained by TMZ, Goldberg revealed that she had some pot prior to the Oscars ceremony because she needed to calm her nerves. "Smoking cigarettes and pot every now and then are my habits. And so I thought, I've got to relax. So I smoked this wonderful joint that was the last of my home grown," she says in the video. In fact, Goldberg was so high that she was worried about making it to the podium when presenter Denzel Washington announced that she had won an Oscar for "Ghost." "When he said my name and I popped up, I thought, Oh f-! ...OK, up the stairs ... around to the podium … there's millions of people, pick up the statue, get the statue," she says in the clip. Goldberg's mother later called and asked if she had smoked prior to the event. "Your eyes were just glistening," she told her daughter. The "View" co-host re-watched her acceptance speech and says, "You couldn't tell. She just panicked me." Still, she admits in the video, "I learned a great lesson. Never smoke pot before there's the possibility of having to talk to a hundred million people." |

Drug addiction is much more a disease than ti's a lack of character or values. If one looks at history, it's as though humanity is addicted to drugs because all throughout history we see drugs. People desire to change their state of mind, to explore the mysteries of cognition and dreams. They will always want to use drugs for this purpose, all by itself. When drugs are legal, at least, people can be better educated on their uses and consequences. When they're illegal, it's like the doors to the school are closed and those who do practice it illegaly do so blindly. I think, in truth, legalizing and tax to treat and educating people about it is better than anything else. In fact, I think some dealers and organizations intentionally keep drugs illegal so they can practice their trade and maintain their dominance. It's much easier to trap humans when they're blind and afraid than ti's to trap them when they'r educated.
Actually you made an ignorant statement. Smoking tobacco is worse than smoking pot. Making pot legal would actually make it safer and clean up the borders a little bit. If you want to illegalise drugs, on principle, then there's absolutely no excuse not to illegalise tobacco. It's WORSE than marijuana and the most addictive drug on the lists.

Our economic system is based on exploiting others because it taps into greed as a motivational agent. It works. It has worked for a long time. The cost, of course, is that you might be the person that's exploited. Remember, for every winner there's a loser. There's finite currency in the world. If there's $100 in the pot and there're 100 people they can each get $1 or one person can get $2 and the rest can get 50 cents, but make no mistake, for one to profit they must profit from another which means that winning and losing is mutual. There is NO win/win situation.
This is no surprise to anyone. This is why she is against any policy that would interfere with the illegals coming into this country, it might interfere with her drug supply and we sure can't do that to any actor or actress.

Did you see her HBO show long, long, ago where she did several different characters? One was a Valley Girl, another was a little black girl, and I don't remember the others. What i do remember is that it was an incredible perfromance that brought me to tears several times.
She is remarkable.

When you can create jobs for thousands of people, there should be a hefty paycheck! How many of you ever got a job from a poor person?
I doubt any of the CEO's actually created any jobs. What they do create is profits and a big way to create profits is to underpay the workers responsible for the product & cut back on maintenance (potentially endangering the workers). Some of these profits will go back into the company, much of the profits will go in multimillion dollar salaries which are based on performance. This model didn't work well for Enron where the books were cooked to show a profit so the upper level folks would get obscene bonuses based of perfomrance that was fictional. The employees and stockholders lost their life savings, their retirement monies, and their jobs. Don't imply that CEO's give a crap for the line workers because they do not.
CEO's, CFO's, etc are a danger to the company when bonuses are predicated on performance.
Creating Jobs? Unless you created the product, own the patent, developed the product, opened the business, you then created jobs.
If youwent to the "B" school and got an MBA, held various jobs, and then were made CEO, you did not create any job but your own,You actually only manage positions of those whom you climbed over. Those same people who you now deign to give paychecks.

Actually doctors, surgeons, nurses make their paychecks off thousands of poor people. So the poor are providing jobs, Same goes for school teachers. Then there are poor consumers– they keep the grocery stores open which means store clerks, produce specialists, delivery truck drivers etc.
A lot of people get jobs from poor people. Social Service people suck money from taxpayers because of them.
