Prince William and Kate Middleton will officially say "I do" on April 29, but the royal wedding will live on happily ever after when the ceremony is released on iTunes later that day.
Decca Records has announced that the entire Westminster Abbey wedding service will be available for digital download just hours after the pair exchange vows, with an official album of the event set for release on May 10 in CD and vinyl form.
"The official album for the royal wedding will complement everyone’s personal memories of the event," said David Joseph, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music UK, which owns Decca. "Thanks to digital technology we will be able to deliver it worldwide almost instantly – it will be the fastest we have ever released an album of this stature.”
The physical album will include a special collector’s booklet that includes the complete order of service; the readings, vows, hymns and blessings; and the music performed by the Choir of Westminster Abbey, the Chapel Royal Choir, the London Chamber Orchestra and the Fanfare Team from the Central Band of the Royal Air Force.
Decca previously released recordings of "The Wedding of Charles and Diana, Prince and Princess of Wales" in 1981, and "The Funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales" in 1997.
"This will be the first Official Royal Wedding Album ever to enter the worldwide digital charts," said Dickon Stainer, president of Decca Records. "It will capture a piece of history for a new generation.”
