Were the Top 11 on 'Idol' soulful enough for you?In my opinion, this may be one of the best Motown-themed nights in the past few years on "Idol." Or it could be that I am still just healing from the disaster that was last season. Let's not even go there. It was a fight to the finish. There were no downright stinkers in the bunch tonight, so it will be interesting to see what happens Thursday night during the results. Going into tonight, I really had my eye on Naima and Haley as the weakest links, but each did well. Still, I'm going to go out on a limb and say I think the bottom three will be Paul, Naima and Haley. Dang y'all, this season is so hard to call because of all the talent. Who do you think will end up on the chopping block? Sound off! |

Terrel23, i saw the 51 too. The words are too small to make out so i cant tell you whats on pg 47. Something tells me abrahams lincolns viceprez wrote this to tell who killed prez libcoln. Also i dont think itll be a bout 9/11 because it involves the countries iran and iraq etc. And sense our country is fighting them right now i think they would be scaredto make a movie on that. Area 51? I dont think so. Because race to witch mountain. I honestly think this mivie will startt from the 1800s to the 1900s. Like start off with george washington up to the great chicago firee or mabe about martin luther king jr. I do wish i could read what was on page 47. If any one knows please comment peace!
A person essentially help to make seriously articles I would state. This is the first time I frequented your website page and thus far? I amazed with the research you made to create this particular publish extraordinary. Magnificent job!

YES................... Bottome three should be:
Naima
Stefano
Haley
I rhink the judges and voting public should give focus on what matters most which is ivoice quality– for 60% and the remaining 40% should go to performance and stage presence. Having said that, my bottom three would be Stefano(no connection), Naima(she just danced her way) & Haley(I can't figure her out).
7. Thia will probably be an AI winner in another couple of years. 8. Haley looks crosseyed. The closer the camera gets the worse she looks. Cant sing. 9. Lauren just bad. 10. Paul sounds like Rod Stewart and is good. But the more he tries not to sound like him, the more he does. Annoying. 11. Stephano just plain bad. Go home already. 12. Scott is great. Hell get a Nashville contract regardless. Best season yet. Judges much better. Rock on AI. I love you!
1. James absolutely the best. He rocks no matter what he sings. 2. Casey is great too. Just pull back a little and hell be fine. 3. Pia is great. Best of the females by far. 4. Jacob was great at first. now he seems to be trying too hard. it makes him appear to be screaming. Going downhill fast. 5. Naima is just plain bad. She needs to quit adding that African thing into every song. Not good. And PLEASE stop dancing! Her singing is bad enough. 6. Thia is good but just too young and not enough experience.
Yes, I so agree that Naima is BAD. The dancing last night was a bit ridiculous !!! STOP, Please...........
The biggest joke is how many people watch this show. First off for this show to fair you let the singers sing whatever they want. Everyone has their own style and it is not fair to make people sing styles that aren’t even close to their own. That is a true test. Second if you think is fair to have a popularity contest as part of the judging (most of America wouldn’t know what talent was if it hit them in the head). Do you think people like Bob Dylan, Madonna, Eddie Vedder or James Brown (as examples) would have made it through a show like this if it was held in their time? No way, they would have been looked at as terrible singers and booted in tryouts.
So you can have your America idol, I will stick with real talent.
Regardless of who wins if I were to be an agent earning a commission off anyone of the 11 I would choose Scotty as he is money in the bank.
I'm not much into country, but the top two in my opinion should be Scotty McCreery (awesome voice!!!) and Jacob Lusk (a true singer) – in my opinion.
Yup: Screechy and Hee Haw................OMG!
How they will rank
11 – Stefano
10 – Lauren
9 – Naima
8 – Paul
7 – Haley
6 – Thia
5 – Pia
4 – Casey
3 – Jacob
2 – James
1 – Scotty
Remeber who is voting people. All the yound girls..... Nuff said
Gregg – you must look like Alfred E. and sound like a truck driver.
All the young girls thing Scotty is uglier than a meadow muffin y'all! Alfred E. Neuman look alike!!!! How hot is that?
Scotty will most likely be the most successful, doesn't need to sing Motown for a career, who does? All contestants go back to their genre for their recording future. Thia is over-matched right now, and Pia is not someone who would entertain you for hours, unless she opened for Celine Dion, SNOOZE!. Compared to last year and the ELLEN fiasco, this year is fantastic. Next to go should be Jacob
I can't believe how some of you think they can't sing. There's a reason why they are the top 11 in the country out of hundred of thousands that auditioned. Just because you don't find them attractive or you don't like certain things about them, doesn't equal them not being able to sing.
The thing I miss this season is someone really making song their own. I loved Crystal from last Season and thought each time she got up there I was going to hear her interpretion of a song. I was disappointed when she didnt win. I really llike Haley's voice the best season but she falls flat. I think she will be the one to go home tonight. I will be routing for James. I think its a talented bunch, but I feel like they are just singing the songs, and not really putting to much behind them.
I like Pia, Scotty, Thia, Paul.
There are alot of really good singers this season. I LOVE the new Judges. Jennifer and Steven bring alot to this show. No more arguing and squabbling between Paula and Simon.
So much nicer.
Bottom 3.
Naima
Lauren
James
I really don't like Naima or Haley. I want them both out!!!! I really want the top three to be Pia, Scotty and Jacob.
To Spring – I watch the show as well to take a much needed break from actual reality. It is nice to sit back and watch "popcorn" entertainment. Don't actually have to think. Read this column on a whim during rounds...need to get a good laugh. But I don't take the show as seriously as some do, which I am not saying is a bad thing...everyone needs an outlet and feel they can control something in a world where we don't have much control.
Idol sucks, hows about that?
Love Jacob, Paul, Casey and James. Pia has a good voice, but she is playing it too safe; she's boring. Stefano is cute but doesn't stand out. Thia is sweet; her time will come. Lauren's ok; nothing original or special. Scotty can definitely sing. Naima is different and unique. Haley is ok but no personality; she's unlikeable. I would say the bottom 3 will be Stefano, Thia and Haley.
I agree with Jo! Stefano has such a girlie voice...yuck. Pia is pretty, but a cover singer. James is a Adam lambert wanna-be.
And you are a "jo" wannabe – 2 losers
Bottom 3
1.Stefano
2.Pia
3. James
Can't stand Pia...I will never vote for her.
James & Pia are my favorites. Scotty's interesting, I like watching him perform, and he was definitely born to sing country. Lauren, Casey and Haley are all cool. I don't really care that much about Stefano, Paul, Thea, or Jacob. Naima is the worst one out of the bunch. I don't understand why so many people like her. Her style, her lack of a good singing voice, her over-the-top annoying dances, everything about her is displeasing to me. Harsh, but true. I wish the bottom 3 would be Naima, Paul and Jacob, but it will probably be Paul, Haley and Thea.
I think Pia will win the whole enchilada. Scotty ... he looks too much like Alfred E. Newman, poor kid. And I just can't stand Paul. I just can't figure out why the judges love him so much. But, then again, Fantasia won and I thought she was like nails on a chalkboard ...
what are some of commentators guys smokin'
NAIMA!!!!!!!!!!!!! , jACOB!!!!!!!!( LITTLE Luther), JAMES AND PIA ALL THE WAYYYYYY!!!!!!!, They are all good with their own unique quality, Naima adds special flavor, i love her . Its anything goes, but the four names mentioned, can stay, any of the others can get booted off, just not these four. I wont be surprised if Haley leaves.
This season is BORING! – a BIG yawner! Last night was BORING! Casey did his original "thing" but it all sounds the same now. I wasn't impressed with Jacob as much as the judges were last night – he just looks like he's doing vocal exercises – nothing original or exciting. At least Scotty was able to take a Motown song and make it his – and I'm not a Scotty fan. James also at least tried to do something original, but like Casey, his stuff now all sounds the same (an Adam Lambert sound-a-like). Naima treid to do something different – but really missed it. Paul has NO range and needs to go. Every else sounds like a pageant singer – like good karaoke – but incredibly BORING!! Are they being over produced?? – it sure sounds like it. I like the judges personalities (but does Steven buy his blouses at Chico's?), and as mentioned by others above – NONE of them are giving any harsh or constructive fedback – they are just cheerleaders at this point – we (and the singers) need a Simon. This season's singers are BORING – no matter how well they are technically singing. My neutered cat has more balls than this season's judges – stop trying to always be liked and not get boo'ed...grow a set already! ALL the contestants need to stretch their ranges and start doing something DIFFERENT and ORIGINAL and something with a wow factor – otherwise...there are other things to watch on Wednesday nights.
Then go watch them – as your diatribe is BORING as hell!
Most of the contestants have at least marginal talent, but I'm not blown away by anyway. What I was really looking forward to this season was Steven Tyler. He was funny and unpredictable during the first few shows, but now he's just as bland and feel-good as Randy. I never thought I'd miss Simon, but they really need to stop being so easy on the contestants. Ther were some sour notes (and missed lyrics!) during Motown, but they never said one really critical word. They can't ALL win, so they'd better start issuing some real critiques.
I miss Simon who would say it like it is cause some of these people are seriously creepy, plus they CANNOT sing. I appreciate the judges being encouraging, cause it's hard to stand in front of people and be judged, but gimme a break. You may think Simon was harsh. But he didn't sugarcoat it and he was right. Look at what he said about all the ones who came through AI. Too bad Simon's gone
The judging is a joke. They need to stop blowing smoke up these kids butts and tell them the truth. Patronizing people just because you don't want to come off mean doesn't help them become better as singers. If you're really trying to help them, then provide constructive critiques. Simon often was way over the line, but the current group seem like their afraid to hurt feelings. I think the music industry is pretty cutthroat and coddling the contestants isn't going to help prepare them for that.
Poor Scotty. He really needs to go. What's up with his little curled lip and his tilted head? All he does is imitate other country singers. I think he has spent too much time in front of a mirror and not enough time developing his OWN voice.
Scotty is amazing! He is right in his lane and he's doing what he loves! He's not trying to imitate other people!! He's super young and already super talented. All he needs is time to develop and he will be at the top! I love country music and honestly, all of the country lovers will vote for him regardless of his performance because Country has always been the one genre that has never gotten much attention. He's fantastic and I think its better to find your place and work hard to make it amazing rather than jump all over the place. He was completely taken out of his comfort zone and he made it his own; which is something not all of the contestants are doing..
why do ppl watch this garbage?
Why do you comment on it?
Bottom three tonight: Haley, Thia, Stefano.
The one to go: Haley.
i miss simon, the voice of reason. the others are fluff, just like this season. and what's up with choosing songs from another era? puh-lease.
Paul!!! He just needs to work on his range and get a little soft
He is my favorite. I follow him on Twitter and the girls are crazy for him, seriously girls all over the world! "I love you that it hurts!" woooww.
Also, to me Pia has back up singer vocals and Thia is just plain boring. Everyone else seems to fake it! haaaa
I can't stand Paul. The first week he did Rod Stewart, then he did Rod Stewart singing Elton John, last night he did Rod Stewart singing Smoky Robinson. I hate his Rod Stewart voice and his weird flopping around. He's a creepy, wussy freak.
J-Lo......Totally fine? Check.......Married to rich superstar? check.........done with acting?
marc anthony is no more of a superstar than you or i.
Also, Stefano is over rated
I am amazed at the positive comments here. It must be 15 year old bloggers on spring break. Now hear this: this year's show is the worst, most horrible collection of "singers" in the history of the show. There is not one, not a single one who is even as remotely good as previous year's runner ups or even top 5. Who this year can hold a candle to David Archuleta? No one. How about 4th place finisher Chris Daughtrey? No one. And the list goes on and on. And for Ryan Seacrust and Randy (I played with them back in '87 dog) Jackson to outright lie and suggest this is the best talent in the history of the show is an insult to those of us who have any kind of ear for music. Let's run it down: Thia Megia – Horrible. Too young to sing with any emotion and way way out of her element singing Martha Reeves. Casey: yes he has some talent but he was shouting last night, has no memorable tonality to his voice and for God's sake man, lose that stupid lumberjack beard! Who are you, Grizzly Adams??? Haley: avergae Glee-type singer. Wow. In previous years she wouldn't have made it past H'wood week. Jacob: decent but nowhere as good as Ruben Studdard and boy has his career took off...NOT. For Steven Tyler (more on him later) to run up and hug Jacob and call him little Luther – OMG!! The only coorelation to the late great Luther is Jacob's (eh em) orientation and yes, he's "little" compared to Luther's size when he was big. Just listen to Luther sing "A house is not a home" then replay anything Jacob has sung. It is an utter insult to the Luther Vandross fans everywhere to even remotely compare these two. James: Uh dude, sorry but last years RUNNER UP Adam Lambert sang the same irritating way and is: a). more talented than you b). better looking (ears!) c). still struggling with his career – so enough said. Lauren: just ok but way too emo. Again just Glee – esque at best talent (on a great day). She's a dime-a-dozen type singer. Naima: sings flat as heck and I'm so tired of AI showing her cleaning toilets! If I walked into a Holiday Inn off the interstate and walked into the bar for a beer and she was singing I would walk out. Finger nails on a chalk board sound more pleasing to the ear. Paul: Gee, aren't you all that! "I am from Lady Antabella and I sing like a light-in-the-loafers Rod Stewart!" Nope, you're not Paul. Your voice is an thin as your frame. All teeth, no bite. Pia: probably the ONLY one who deserves to be on the show. Good, not great. I mean when Katherine McPhee sand "over the rainbow" that was something special. Could Pia do that? I doubt it. She's looks and sings like some singer from the early 1970's ala Connie Francis. And where is McFee now? Who knows? Scotty: What??!! "Boom shocka boom shocka boom shocka mow mow.." Are you freakin kidding me? Sorry, but I think the Oak Ridge Boys and Alabama already have baritone singers and they're like 80 years old. Dude, go back to the country; giddyup! Stefano: In all 10 previous seasons he wouldn't even make the top 10 or 11 or 12 or 13. Again, just shows how weak the talent pool is! Now for the judges: Randy: dog, dude, dude, dog... 11 years of dude, dog, dog, dude... OK so he played with the reformed, Steve Perry-less Journey. Wow dude! Back up musician for a has-been Vegas version of a has-been band. You go dog! Randy is trying to be the tough guy/Simon guy this season but dog, it ain't working. The best is when he laughs at some of the contestents because truly, this is a gaggle of laughable "singers". J-Lo: if you weren't so fine no one would even give a hoot. Girl, you smokin! Better than Paula or is she..? Better loking for dang sure! Steven: Yes dog, we love Aerosmith. Always have; still relevent. Loved the smarmy comments during the preliminary rounds but now you seem lost. To go hug Jacob and call him little Luther just shows how unattached you are to the show. You seem there in body (an old, plastic surgeon tighted body) not in spirit or mind. And when the camera panned on fellow A'smither Brad last night I though that was a contestant's grandfather! The guy must be 74 years old! Well fans, that's my honest and CORRECT assessment of this year's Idol. I dare anyone who has any musical objectivity and maturity to challenge my critique – and you can't because if you read carefully, you KNOW I'm right.
Word, brother. WORD.
gotta admit, your novel made me chuckle a few times, but my guess is you're a 15-25 year struggling "something" who's never accomplished anything of value in your short life. In fact, you've probably never even TRIED, you're too scared to fail and get insulted in the exact manner in which you're insulting all of this year's contestants. So you sit back because it's easier to critique than to be critiqued. In reality, anyone who has any musical talent, knowledge and knowhow knows EXACTLY how hard it is to go up in front of others (be it 10 people or 25 million people) and give it your absolute all regardless of what kind of backlashes you may receive from your viewers. I'm all for constructive criticism and I am well aware that not everybody can like everybody, but to call these people talentless as if you were the end all be all to the matter is just silly, pathetic, immature and cowardly – but this is most likely a perfect description of your character, so if the shoe fits…….. I wonder if you can sing worth a lick….
Niema needs a make over – STAT!!! You can be Afro-centric or whatever you want to call it but her image is terrible. I can't get past the terrible wardrobe and weird hair/make-up long enough to cast a vote for the poor girl.
Bottome 3 : Naima, Stefano and Thia....just sayin'
Just like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, our tastes in music obviously vary greatly. Wow, it has been an eye opener to read people's comments. I give anyone who choses to participate in such a grueling contest a lot of admiration. Personally, I like the encouragement and the support the judges are giving this season, but I do think they need to function a little more like real judges. I do not understand the appeal of Paul at all, he is a good looking guy, but his voice is very weak. Scotty could be successful in country, James in rock, Pia and Jacob both have amazing range and beautiful voices. They could both use help polishing up their stage presence. Naime is very sweet but has a very limited range.I'm sure she will continue to be successful in her dancing, that seenms to be her passion.. I enjoy listeneng to Lauren and Haley, but Casey sounds the same to me in every song, he is entertaining but I couldn't listen to him for more than a song or two. I realize that people will disagree and that is their right. We all need to show respect for other people's opinions. Peace
To compare Pia to a LOUNGE SINGER is ABSURD. I have NEVER heard a voice like that in a lounge act!
Bottom three: Paul, Lauren and Thia
NIEMA SHOULD GO NEVER LIKED HER AND THAT STUPID DANCE SHE DID LAST NIGHT SHE SHOULD GO TRYOUT FOR THA AFRICAN IDOL OF DANCE
Ha !
Based on last night the bottom 3 should be : Thia, Stefano, and Pia
Because even tho they are all good singers – they did not do as well as the others in the MOTOWN contest.
Out of the 3 i felt Thia did the best since she showed improvement
Neither Pia or Stefano showed any growth or soul which is what Motown music is all about.
Even Scotty did better with his song than they did !
😉
It seems like they're all lacking personality, presence, and star quality. Oh, sorry, I thought you wanted a comment about the judges. Same applies to the contestants, kinda. They've all been taught to sing, but that's not what makes a star, that's what makes a karaoke/lounge/back-up/studio singer.
Naima has the most in the way of individuality, stage presence, and style, but yeah, she has the weakest voice in the bunch.
Scotty, yeah, you are what you are. Slide into that low note one more time. Loved the comment about the head tilt to the right, raise the mike sideways. Cheesus, every song? He doesn't really need Idol anymore. Send him back to the middle, and somebody write him a song about a car or 'I got me a white trash girl and I love her.' I's a country star, y'all.
Paul, unique enough voice, but is he more Macy Gray Kim Carnes than Rod Stewart, or can he put a career together not a one-hit wonder?
Pia, boring. Not good enough to be a diva. More off-Broadway than Whitney. She'll be at your local cabaret lounge soon where you can say, 'Hey wasn't she on Idol?'
Haley might find herself some day. Great rasp, lousy stage presence, doesn't know what to do with herself.
James, ya ya ya ya hey, was quoted as saying 'I'm not Adam Lambert.' No, you certainly aren't.
Stefano. With the right producer, he could have some success with cross-over dance hits. Cute enough to appeal. Enrique without flavor.
Thia. She's all right, not seasoned enough and misses too many notes, but just give her a show on Disney Family now.
Jacob is an odd combination of churchy and gay. Definitely reminscent of Luther in that way, but too screechy. Like Scotty, I have to say, oh gee Jacob, why don't you hit that same low note one more time. Oversings way way too much.
Lauren is Kelly Clarkson Lite, that watered down app that you don't have to pay 99 cents for but only has one level.
I think I've missed one of the not-exactly-hot-but-kinda-okay-looking girls.
Holy crap, Idol needs some flavor this season! I miss my JHud like crazy.
Oh, it wasn't a mediocre girl I missed. It was Seth Rogen. Why isn't he in the picture?
He'll be a great studio musician one of these days. He's a little bit jazz, a little bit Taylor Hicks.
Along with Paul, my prediction is he'll shave his beard the week he feels threatened.
Probably will be the same week Stefano takes his shirt off.
Yeah right, like I woke up this morning and said, "I think I'd like to read a whole book on last nights Idol episode."
My bottom 3 for the week are Naima, Thia and Stefano based solely on their performances last night. I thought they were the weakest links of the night, but we all know that one night's performance won't necessarily make or break you. I think Naima should be the next to go home. Paul is one of my dark horse favorites because he is SO unique. When I heard the original song that he performed right before the top 24 were announced, I knew this guy had something. I could sit and listen to his record! I just hope that the rest of America "gets" him like I do. Casey is by FAR my favorite. Give that guy a stand up base and tell him to do what he does – he has crazy talent beneath all that facial hair! Pia has a beautiful voice but she really bores me. I think Hayley's voice is very unique, but I really need to her her sing the blues. Jacob is amazing – not really my style, but watching him sing is an experience and he really has wonderful vocals and a LOT of passion. I like James, but I'm not sold on him yet. I want to hear him do something really amazing – I know he has a great voice aside from his screaming high notes, but I need to hear something that showcases all of it. And Scotty really does melt me with those low notes. I think that boy has a HUGE career in front of him, and I'm a fan. I don't feel like I'm done listening to Lauren yet, but I do need her to step it up just a little bit more because I know she's not giving us everything that she's got in there...I think there's much more to be uncovered.
WE ARE CRAZY ABOUT SCOTTY, HIS VOICE , HIS PRESENT, HIS DOWN TO EARTH MANNER. HIS PARENTS
SHOULD BE PROUD.
scotty is ugly – looks like alfred – and sings even worse. his parents must really be ugly also!
I totally agree with Daisey. They are all exceptionally good, talented performers. Some must have been listening to a different Jacob than I was because he sure wasn't doing any screaming last night. When one judge goes up on stage and personally congratulates a contestant and the other two join the crowd for a standing ovation, you've done one heck of a good job. After last night's motown performances, I really don't have a favorite even though I have had a favorite in each of the past weeks. I can see both Pia and Jacob in the finals.
Naima should go tonite, she doesnt need to tour with the top 10 this summer, sorry. But then again, neither does Stefan. Seriously, when is he going to break out into Babaloo?
You are CRAZY to think that Paul will be in the bottom 3.....no way that will happen. I'm just sayin'.........
PAUL IS THE BEST 🙂
Regardless of the outcome of the show :
Country music industry will give Scotty a good career.
R&B music industry will give Jacob a good career.
Rock and Roll music industry may give James a good career, if Lambert is no longer available.
Elevator music industry will give Pia a good career.
You got it wrong, Pia is going to win it
Agree 100% on the Pia comment. HOpe she gets voted off fast !
That girl that got in trouble for singing another ballad was incredible. Best I've ever heard on Idol. Cool to see Tyler come to her rescue. He was, after all, the ballad man of the 90's.
The bottom 3 should be Stephano, Thia and Paul. The truth is Thia forgot her words near the end of her song and barely recovered. She should go home for that. Paul is unique but his performance was drowned out by the background singers. Stephano has a good voice, but he doesn't have any soul. So forget bottom 3 Thia is going home. For some of the contestants winning doesn't matter ask Chris Daughtry. This season has 3 people who will have automatic contracts and followers. Scotty, James and Pia.
Vote for Alfy...I mean Scotty! He has got to branch out. Country maybe his thing, but there is more to country than Josh Turner.
I think Naima should go to Broadway. She is amazingly talented, but Idol is too small a stage.
This group of 11 is amazingly talented. Some more than others and some more ready for sucess than others. But they are all trying to fulfil their dreams. I would like to see fewer rude comments about peoples hair and teeth, etc. Can't you all just be kind and be happy for them as they all likely will have singing careers? I just enjoy the show. Yes, I have my favorites, but America is a land of diversity in many ways, so my style isn't relevant. I can appreciate all of them. As far as the judges go, I miss Simon, but I don't miss his mean comments. While always right on, he could be kinder. JLo is good, Steven should give more critical feedback or maybe he is just more forgiving. I don't understand why Randy says someone is pitchy and then overlooks the flat notes of someone else.
PIA will win it all. Just absolutely amazing in her tone of voice. If she adds more spunk and get loose watch out ! As judges told her last night...... rock it up a notch and move with the music. Pia accepts that and we will see next weeks run. GO PIA LOVE YA !!!!!!!
I have to agree with James.. there are some good singers but ....this idol season is the "Emporer's New Clothes"....again......and actually pretty boring...and like James.....I've seen them all....I think the continuing philosophy in Hollywood ( except for some cable shows) is to water down and make everything for the simplest moron on the planet to absorb....but you have to ask why you would want to dumb down everything....iinstead of making the morons rise a little higher on the food chain.... soon they will be after the "one celled" audience......but then ...it is all about the money...isn't it.
Lauren Alaina is by far my favorite. If this girl can dig deep and really believe in her ability, she is going to blow everyone away. She has pure, raw talent that you don't see to often in a 16 year old. We haven't seen her best, so I hope she survives this week so they can continue to work with her and bring out the real ability she has.
I can't believe how bad this season is, and how people have just lowered their standards to think its good.
Casey, James, and Paul should all go apply to be the new voice of the Aflac Duck !! They are all somewhere within the spectrum of a cat howling and a duck quacking.
Pia, Thia and Naima... I'm sure there's a Karaoke bar somewhere in your town that just loves you.
Haley, not even the Karaoke bars wants you there.
Stefano you could be better if you stopped all the drama and howling.
Scotty, stick to country – last night was a mess. Jacob stick to R&B and stop queening out. Scotty and Jacob, you both will end up doing well regardless of how you do on this show.
The judges all need to just go home, what's the real point of being kissy kissy to everyone ? Say what you want about Simon, but at least you got the truth. And Ryan Seacrest needs to just come out of the closet.
We didn't ask for a dissertation.
and you should suk my A$$ – loser
Everyone needs to keep things in perspective...this is reality TV. Its just a show. Too bad everyone didn't put this much effort into things that really matter, things that are wrong with the world today. Focus your energy on that not this stupid crap! LMFAO at all of you, you all must be under age of 25 I am assuming.
Why are you reading this column then. Go focus on what you want. I happen to enjoy the show.
I'm going to go where nobody dares to go... I like Idol this year, but I think the big problem with the music and performances right now is darn bad advice from the record producers. I think they are distracting the singers from who they are and confusing them.
Better watch out... They're coming to get you now! 😉
I agree
Roscoe . . . I really do agree with you. It was better when they had the professional guest coaches each week. Don't like the record producers in there at all.
Last week Scotty was the only one who refused to follow the record producer's advice and he did just fine. At least Scotty seems to know who he is–which is amazing for a kid who just turned 17.
Everyone needs to keep things in perspective...this is reality TV. Its just a show. too bad everyone didn't put this much effort into things that really matter, things that are wrong with the world today. Focus your energy on that not this stupid crap!
I agree that there is a lot of talent this year.... BUT I still haven't felt strongly enough about any one performance to download a track from iTunes. In past years (except last year) I would buy at least a couple songs a week. This current group can sing but not in a unique or creative way. There's not an Adam Lambert in the group that can take a song and make it their own (Scotty did last night with Motown, but it was the same spin he will probably take on every other non-country themed week going forward which ultimately leads to BORING).
you guys do realize it's a "Popularity" contest and voting has little to do with talent
The judges have been so lax with the praise for Haley. Her voice is so great. I love the growl and I feel like she can sing anything. For her to consistently be in the bottom 3 I think has to do with the judges' comments. They are overly effusive in praising people like Paul and Stefano, but not enough with Haley. She's a different kind of singer, and I find myself downloading her songs most of all after every Idol performance. She did great last night and if she doesn't make it into the top 10 and Paul or Naima make it through- I'll be done with watching idol hand pick its favorites. Pia was fantastic. I agree that she needs to do more than Ballads- every song is a Ballad and she doesn't move at all. I dont think she is able to hit her high notes if she moves. She does remind me of Celine. Lauren Alaina I think could give Pia a run for her money, She's young and she isnt pulling out all the stops but I know she can reach the same notes that Pia can. My favorite for the boys has to be James. He's very Adam Lambert-esque. Everyone else is just not good enough at this stage for me.
I love Haley too. She is a Etta James fan and so am I. I love Haley's voice.
I agree that Simon's honesty is missed but here's the upside of that. No one is getting the "sympathy vote" and staying longer than they should. Think "SANJAYA"!
My take on each idol...
*Pia – amazing singer, but no heart. Girl can sing all day if she wanted to, but I would not pay to go see her because there is nothing else to her.
*Scotty – very sweet, but he won't win. I love country music and love that he is covering songs in a way that works for him. But it is going to wear on people and it already is.
*Paul – so original and amazing, but too different for the general population.
*Jacob – OMG... I cannot stand to listen to him yell into the microphone each week. Please, kick him off now. I cannot even understand a word he "sings".
*Thia – mediocre.
*Lauren – amazing singer and amazing presence. For a 16 y/o she's got it!
*James – yawn. Adam Lambert wanna-be! And that earring and tail, seriously?
*Naima – Needs to go. She is such an original person, but her singing is anything but original.
*Stefano – Good singer, but a little out of his arena.
*Haley – amazing singer! I just wish she would find her way.
*Casey – the best by far! I don't really know what else to say about him.
I thought Casey was a mess as was Stefano. Haley's dance moves were bizarre. Jacob has a voice for sure but he screams everything which is more than a little irritating. I'm not a country fan at all but I think Scotty is so unique with a killer voice. He will be a mega country star, IMO. James is solid but his screaming is overdone just like Jacob. Naima redeemed herself, as did Thia and Paul. Lauren could be in trouble, but... Bottom 3: Casey, Stefano, Haley. Casey should go.
We need Simon! OMG, these mamby pamby judges suck! They're all about encouraging the kids to do their best. Puleeeze! What would've taken Simon 10 seconds, took J-Lo 5 minutes to get to the point of telling Pia that she needs to do something more upbeat. And does Stephen Tyler think up all those cutesy cliche' comments ahead of time? Even Randy has sold out. The strictest criticism he gives is "pitchy"! Tell it like it is! Here is what Simon would have said about last night. Thia – I felt like I was watching a performance at a theme park, it was horrific! Paul – you screwed up the words and ruined the song! Jacob – it was self-indulgent and everything you do sounds like gospel. Pia – boring, self-indulgent, lounge singer and we know you can hit the notes. Scotty – sounded like I was in a country karaoke bar. Naimah – the whole thing was horrific and again self-indulgent., I think you're in danger again. James – too much screeching, over sang the song, no originality and Taylor Hicks did the best version. Stefano – boring, everything sounds the same and if I'm being honest, it's time for you to go. Haley – over sang and growled the song. Lauren – it was just ok, nothing special, looked like you were in your mother's clothes. Casey – the only one with any redeeming value, you owned it, and actually sang the song like you knew it. Well done. Ok, so the songs were written decades before any of them were born and have no meaning in their life ,but at lease do them justice. You have to have the whole package. Thus far in idol history, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Hicks, David Cook, Daughtry and Adam Lambert had it. No one has topped Lambert's amazing renditions of Tears of a Clown and Mad World. The only one so far this season that has the "it" factor, in my opionion, is Casey Abrams.
Nice criticisms and I agree with almost all of them. I don't think Casey's any good, though. Not mature enough and sincere in his phrasing. It's all made up and not very well either. Don't know why you didn't put in Bowersox and Underwood to the talent list for this show. I can't stand watching it anymore. Next time you listen to Stephano, imagine a weak Freddy Mercury. Stephano could be really good if he had a few shots of testosterone before he opened his mouth. Mercury was all hormones. The judges this year are network stooges and complete nothings. They make me want to puke every time they try to say something. Awful season. The worst yet. I guess the ratings though will force this show back next year. James will win this year, or whoever, and then everyone will disappear, just like Bowersox has disappeared. Only Daughtry and Underwood and what's her face, the first winner, have made any impact on music, O yeah, and I guess Jennifer Hudson. Ho hum.
The show is so much better than the last few years! The talent is light years better – last year's finalist wouldn't even be in my top 10 this year. Tyler adds a much-needed wackyness while he still is usually right on with his analysis. J-Lo is waaaay more insightful than I thought she'd be ( she does go on too long tho), plus she ain't hard to look at! Randy is, well, Randy, and when combined with the other two, that's perfectly ok. Oh, and the front row waving arms crap is gone too!
Great Motown show. Definitely no absolute stinkers. James was a standout. When I find myself replaying a song it means I've found someone who can be the winner and I replayed his song. Great song, good moves, great performance. Whole package. Sure, compare him to Adam Lambert, but he's got his own thing going on I reckon. Similar voices but different personalities and it shows in the performances. And what's this about bad start? It was great from start to finish! C'mon dogg! I reckon James is gonna win from this point despite Pia's exceptional voice.
Bottom three for me this week: Thia, Lauren... third one too hard to pick.
Paul freakishly reminds me of James Blunt (Why does everyone keep saying Rod Stewart?). He won't win, but typically thats better for contestants anyway (Daughtry, Hudson, etc.). He'll get his contract no matter what, as will pretty much everyone on the stage minus Naima (aka Medusa).
Pia has the most vocal talent of the girls (Lauren is the only girl who could give her a run at all). James and Jacob both have incredible range (best voices of the guys) though I don't like Jacob's tone sometimes.
This season gives me the feeling that Idol held back talent in prior seasons. How could it be that nearly every person is this good?!
Some people claim the show sucks now, but thats just because they miss Simon tearing people apart, just like they missed Paula's antics before... This show is finally about the singers and not the judges, though I agree with some that the critiques need to be more honest.
Who cares, all i know is that the Filipina gal is smoking hot and Naima has a totally rockin' bod!
Bottom 3 for me would be Haley, Paul and Thia but my boot off of those three would definitely be Paul. He is just not Idol material. He is that creepy guy you see in a hotel lounge singing to the old people. I would NEVER pay money to hear him sing anywhere! Thia did not do Motown well. She is just too young and naive to branch out and do anything other than a Disney ballad....maybe Disney World will hire her to do a show there. She could even dress up like one of the princesses....kids would love that! I thought the judges made a poor decision when they rescued Naima in the first place. There is a reason that America did NOT choose her to be in the Top 10!
I'm rooting for James. He seems to be able to sing ANYTHING and he's not afraid to step outside of the box. That is what Idol is all about. He's got a great voice and he really gets the audience involved! 🙂
LOVE the judges but I would like to hear Steven give some negative feedback once in awhile. Jennifer is not the diva everyone made her out to be. I actually feel like she is giving good, honest & constructive feedback. And who doesn't love Randy....go Dawg go!
Can't wait to see how the season winds up!!
The 2 guys with the beards have got to go! They both suck. They both sound like 2 drunks singing kareoke in a sloppy bar. The Asian girl must go next.
What was the deal with the way Hailey walked down the steps...Adam Lambert owned those steps with his entrance...get off of Adam's steps!!!
Adam's steps? You mean the whaddayawantfromme-guy? I want him to shut up and disappear from the radio. Oh, sorry, he already did.
Here in Scandinavia, we are like, 3 or 4 shows behind you guys.
I love reading your comments though, quite fun to see how you disagree:-)
But you are all wrong about one thing. Best season was season 8....Because it gave us Adam Lambert.
Buuuuut.....if I had to pick a winner it would be James...´cause he´s got a great voice and we both are autists
The sooner the James ( the no talent, Adam Lambert wanna be ) gets kicked off the better.
Adam Lambert good gawd... He's nothing more than a Chris Daughtry wannabe! James is better. Bottom line is season 9 was a disaster. They should have just cancelled that fiasco.
You are right. This season has the most talent since Taylor Hicks won. Very difficult, but I feel that the bottom 3 should be Haley, the girl with the zebra dress and Pia........Pia has a good voice, but it is a common voice. You can hear it any time you turn the radio on and also she seems pretty stuck on herself. I happen to love Paul. He is very different. People are stuck in a mold. The vote for the same type of singers over and over again....................
Steven – Huge Aerosmith fan and I love you to death, but you need to grow a pair and make some critical comments.
Randy – A night without "pitchy?" C'mon Dawg!
Jennifer – Just STFU!
Ryan – Come out of the closet already!
Contestants – ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
That is all.
Watching Hayley was torture – I had to mute my TV. Paul is my FAVOURITE!!!! Go Paul!!!
Really??Really?? I guess there is a wide variation in taste. I just don't get it at all, to me his voice is so weak and I don't enjoy listening to him at all. To each his own, I respect your right to differ.
In regards to the judges, I'm with some of the others. They should be truly judging not gushing all over their favorites, running up on stage after a performance and giving them hugs like Steven did last night for heaven sakes. Show some professionalism in what they are being paid for ,for cry'in out loud. To me they are trying to influence the voters where they should be showing partiality to be fair to everyone.
With that being said, I think Thia should go tonight as she comes off as the weakest performer, she's just not show stopper material, too meek. I personally don't like Jacob at all and Stefano is wearing on me too. I enjoy watching Casey, James, Paul and Scotty. Pia is beautiful and very talented but needs to liven it up a bit and Lauren is consistently good and Haley is good only sometimes but when she's good, she's good. Naima is so so and it wouldn't bother me if she was voted off. Tonight should be interesting.
Bottom 3 will be JACOB, NAIMA, AND HAILEY with hailey going home. when she performs, she reminds me of a lindsay lohan type and comes off as over confident and trashy. i think the top 4 will be SCOTTY, JAMES, PIA, and CASEY! all of them bring something different to the table and i honestly think they all will do well with their careers unlike some past winners (taylor, kris, ruban).
@lattelovinm – I am actually mature enough to apologize to you for having offended you or anyone with my word choice: I am sorry for that. But I still hold my opinion. I do like some of the singers but there is a bunch of them I can't stand. As bitter and critical as I may come off here, trust me that I am just as supportive and vehement in backing up those I consider friends and family.
This is the worst season ever. The "judges" are just cheerleaders doling out overinflated nonsense. I can't listen to any of them anymore. I haven't seen anyone measuring up to to Bowersox or Underwood or Lambert except the screamer James. I don't get Jacob. What's so great about this guy? Any church choir will have such a voice in it. This is a torturous boring season. People are singing songs beyond their talent and Simon would have told the truth to them instead of these three network stooges fawning over everything and saying nothing. Tyler is a nothing judge as is J. Lo. I can't even look at Tyler. He should go back to his great career and forget this crap. It's not him. Sure he's a hugely talented guy, but great musicians don't necessarily make great coaches or critics. Why do I bother to watch it then if I hate it? Same reason you watch car wrecks and disasters. It's news and I'm curious. But I haven't picked up the phone once this season to support anybody. They're all competent singers, but not stars and certainly NOT idols!
Did Naima have a seizure last night? Or is she possessed? Noone can call that mess dancing. Terrible to say the least.
also, i think the "attracting cougars" thing ryan said (about paul's pin) is true because my 57 year old mother has a huge ridiculous crush on him. :op
In all the years I’ve been watching (about 5) I think this year has the most talent. I thought everyone last night was great! My least favorite was Stefano, mainly because he did such a boring song. And Scotty, mainly because I just don’t like country, although he does have an amazing voice (he’ll probably win). And Paul, even though I liked the song he did (Track of My Tears) he’s just a little too quirky. My favorites were Jacob, Pia, James and Naima (who I liked the least last week). I also liked Lauren. Pia has a better voice, but Lauren has more stage presence. I’ve always liked Thia and loved the song she did, but her voice sounded a bit weak. And I’ve always liked Haley, but I thought she was better last week when she ended up in the bottom three, although the judges thought she was better last night. I’m on the fence abut Casey. My prediction for bottom three tonight: Thia, Paul, Stefano. If it was up to me, Paul would be the next to go.
Jacob bores me with his runs. He's trying too hard to be great. Naima is an artist all the way. Pia is a good lounge singer.
James seems the most star gifted of all. Thia has time on her side, needs to go home and audition for Glee. Paul is
"fingernails on a chalkboard". I don't care for Hailey. The others are just "ok". Randy must rethink his comments on Lusk.
My favorite all time performances are Carly Smithson's "Here You Come Again", and Adam Lambert's "Tears Of A Clown".
I'm sorry, for those of you who claim Jacob is a disaster, you couldn't be further from the truth. Look, I can totally understand someone's taste not meshing well with Jacob's style, fine, but say the guy can't sing is a flat out lie. The only person in the group that can hang vocally with him is Pia, his voice is flat out superb, i'd love to hear all these fools tearing him down even attempt 1 line of the songs he sings, grow up.
Jacob Lusk is fast becoming the most overrated over praised artist in Idol history..
I am with you on that. When I heard him in his audition I thought he was going to be awesome. I am sorry, I close my eyes and listen and I am not impressed.
Another top notch performance Scotty!!!!!!!
Another vote for Pia. She certainly has the looks and she hits notes I do not hear from the rest. I think there are 4 or 5 this year that would have won in other years based on some of the lame winners we have had in the past. If Pia gets a little more confident she will take off like a rocket.
I'm sorry, but Naima is terrible. If you close your eyes and just listen to her voice without watching her move, you will hear that she has no range and basically shouts her lyrics. She has no chance to win, so she may as well just leave.
And despite the judges gushing, I thought that Thia was awful last night. She looked uncomfortable and at times you could barely hear her.
I hope Pia wins. She is beautiful and has a fantastic voice!
Agreed!
Dudes, really? These were the best picks out of all the people in those humongous lines? Most are okay, but when Paul sang, our dog went in the backyard and howled at the moon!
It was a surprisingly great night for most all of them! This year's group are the most diverse and talented so far. I do still miss Simon telling it like it is instead of this constant love fest from Jlo and Tyler. It is obvious that Jacob Lusk has a recording contract waiting for him (unless record producers are deaf and insane) as the new Luther Vandross. Being the new Luther may hurt him in the finals voting because not too many young texting voters are into Luther. Likewise Pia Toscano has a recording contract waiting on her in the vein of Celine or Whitney and what a total package they will have to work with wow! These are the two best on the stage by far however, teeny boppers do the most voting and that will keep the quirky James Durbin, the strange Casey Abrams and the obnoxiously annoying Scotty in the race.
About last night, the weakest ones and bottom three should be Thia Megia, Scotty McCreery, Stefano Legano.
I never cared for the Adopo girl but she was better last night and i have never felt Stefano at all and he has a voice i would not want to hear two songs in a row from much less an entire CD. Scotty will have a future in country music on some level but watching him over act on stage live will hurt him, maybe they can tone his silly antics down.
Just because Paul has a distinct voice doesn't mean it is one that you love. Depends on the material as to what his future will be but somebody please just stop him from falling/dancing he looks retarded. I am ready to buy Pia Toscano's new CD right now ballads and all. I will also buy Jacob Lusk because of "the soulful voice". As Daughtry and Hudson showed America you do not even have to be in the final two to sell millions of records just catch the ear of record producers and find the right material. Who cares who wins Idol anymore now, all that matters is having a career in the music industry and the exposure is your ticket to audition for the record moguls. Jacob and Pia just sign here.
I hope and pray James will win – I mean you can't get any better! The others...urrghh... yes, Pia is beautiful (we hear that every week..yawn) but she is boring. Hayley is just okay.. Naimi, she's good but I can see her getting voted off due to her Afrocentricness...and it's just not mainstream. Jacob, be voted off already.. Paul, he's unique.. I like him! Casey is okay, nothing outstanding... and Scotty, come on with something different that same ole, same ole deep-voiced country is getting old...
Well, judging from last night's reaction to James when he finished his song, it sorta tells me that he's a crowd favourite. And yes, that boy can sing! He is unforgettable, that's for sure. As for Paul, the right songs for him would be good because he does have that unique voice (also unforgettable) but not an Idol winner. And....what's up with Jacob? He's just aweful, period.
How the heck do you think Paul will be bottom 3?? He's one of the best 2 or 3 singers in the bunch.
Apparently Dogs doesnt know jack about country music. I believe, win or lose, Scotty will be the next highest selling ex Idol next to Carrie Underwood. How do I know this? Because country listeners are more faithful than pop lovers and they buy more cds.. I am also sure the labels are just chompping at the bit to sign him. He is going to go way further than any of the others this year.
Betty, sure is nice to know there is one other country music lover in the crowd here. No doubt in my mind that Scotty has already been approached by country music promoters and he will be a big hit.
for sure!! His super-low voice is great. I love it and I know there are millions of country listeners who will, too. Regardless of what any of the country-haters say, Scott is gonna laugh all the way to the bank. People just love to hate on country as a genre – – I guess because singing about real life isn't as "cool" as lyrics about gettin' drunk, goin' to the club, makin' tons of money ... blah blah blah.
Hi, Betty. Dogs doesn't know jack about country music because "dogs" hates the sound of it. Whine, whine, whine. And I don't care how much money the country singers are making, it still all sounds the same!!!! Twang, twang, twang. That's why I hate it.
Again, this show is not "Country Idol".
Scotty, Thia and Naima should be in the bottom 3. I don't understand why there is so much dislike of Haley, she has possibly the most soulful voice of any of the females. She nails all her notes. What is the appeal with Scotty? He is by far the least vocally talented of the remaining contestants, he can't hold a candle to almost every other contestant. He looks like the mad magazine guy and moves like a chicken. He needs to go.
Haley only sang better yesterday... maybe the theme last night favored her a little bit, but not good enough compare to other (i think she's better than Naima)... look on past performances by her... i dont see anything good in her voice... she is like a female version of Paul when it comes to dancing or moving or chicken dancing... whatever you want to call it... NOT UNIQUE AT ALL!!!!
Got my eyes on Casey and James. James was, hands down, the best last night with Casey a close second. As much as I would love to see Paul leave, I don't think that is going to happen because he seems very popular with the public although he can't carry a tune in a basket. I think little Thia will go home tonight.
Thia will stay.... Most likely to go home tonight is Naima... Haley will go next week...
I agree. In fact, I think Casey and James could well be the two finalists. I also agree Thia having the best chance to go home tonight. The girls are good, but none outstanding. Interesting, even the last girl, who I considered to have some true star potential, Allison Iraheta, kind of vanished in the background. Adam Lambert, seems like, also didn't quite make it. I don't blame them, I blame the poor quality music coming out from the authors and the decrease of great musicians to play whatever good music may exist out there.
I am very satisfied with this season of AI, much more so than several of the previous ones. They didn't sound "soulful" enough? Whoopi doo. What did they expect from 9 out of 11 white youngsters, most who never even knew what Motown music is?
This particular craziness seems to continue. If any of these people ever become stars or even just professional performers, they will never have to sing anything outside of their own style and ability. AI should allow them to do what they did at the first couple of rounds: sing what you like and know how to. Whathisname who has an "unusual voice" (the blond guy) sings like Rod Stewart without the smoked away vocal cords. How can he possibly sing Motown well? Requiring something like that is similar, if we would have expected Pavarotti to perform well Stairway to Heaven from Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant).
I agree - sick of THEME nights; let them excel at what they do best, and show us who they really are, because that will determine if we'd want to buy their records...
I hate to say it – but Haley will be in the bottom three. She was awesome, and I think she is my favorite female voice, but, for some reason, people just don't like her. Not sure why though, she seems fine....and I don't like anyone! I think Thia deserves to be in the bottom more.
And yes – this IS the best American Idol season ever – thank you Simon for leaving and letting new life come to the show.
Haley is my favorite of the girls also. I think this is a great year for Idol. I don't mind the judges. I am actually getting a kick out of Tyler. I am not crazy about Jacob, but its all in what you like in music. I think Casey is crazy talented, however I have only bought one of his songs. Pia has a great voice, again I only bought her first song. I love James, Scotty, Lauren and Thia's voices. Along with Haley, I have bought all their songs. I just enjoy the music shows.
It will come down to James and Pia. Scotty and James are the runner ups. Everyone else is ordinary, forgettable and bring nothing new to the table.
scotty original ....... HAHAHAHAHAHA. All he can do is sing country in a voice deeper than a 100 foot well.
I hope he is gone tonight
Paul is the only performer in the bunch that I would actually listen to at home... love him. Hope he stays.
I agree! he's sooo cute - love that smile, beautiful choppers, and blue eyes, and his personality - I'd listen to him at home, too. Hope he comes out of this with a record deal even if he's not the overall winner. Love him!
I agree.....Paul can sing man.....people that dont see that dont understand singing.
Are you people crazy?? this guy can't sing he is awful not to mention that flopping around the stage like a beheaded chicken!
My friends and I used to go to his band's shows all the time in Atlanta, and he always sounded really good (and I am very picky about people singing off-key at concerts). I really hope they get signed after AI because I always thought his band deserved more attention!
I completely agree! I'm afraid that the judges are right about America not "getting it". He's definitely more of a musician and less a performer, if that makes sense. As someone who appreciates all music but loves mostly indie-type acts, I think Paul will carve out a great place for himself in that genre. His band (both under their current and previous names) is incredible and already has a large following in the south. He was doing well for himself before the show and will certainly do well for himself afterwards!
Im not sure which is worse...all you idiots here praising this show, the show or the talentless bums on this show.
and yet you still took time to read the article and read the comments? we may indeed be idiots, but I think you may be the one with the larger issues.
So glad you aren't watching the show, reading the articles and posting the blogs. Whew! For a minute there, I thought you were a fan! We don't need you for this show to be a success!!!!
I'll tell you what's worse. It's people who comment on something they have no interest in just to bash others... that's "pitiful" and "worse" in my eyes. Go back to playing in traffic while playing your Nintendo DS, tool.
All you untalented idiots are living vicariously thru these GayMerican Idiot untalented idiots. Kinda like the blind leading the blind. The best of the worst...Pitiful and sad.
Okay, "Pitiful." That's why you're on the Marquee Blogs instead of doing something useful... because you're so much more talented than everyone else. Your only talent to me seems to be stirring the pot for no reason and being a waste of space to society.
I'm voting for your grammar. That is what I think is "worst".
This, by far, has to be the most talented group at this point in the show. I've been following this show, off and on, over the past 9 years. The finalists for this season are the best I've seen in the show's history. Anyone of them could take the show and it is very hard trying to vote for the best.
I agree 100% and I have never missed a single episode of AI in the 10 years. I LOVE this year!
They're amazing. Any one of the would have won last year's AI.
This show was better the first time around.....when it was called STAR SEARCH!
Bottom 3 SHOULD be Jacob, Haley and Paul. If all the winers hate IDOL so much reach for the remote.
I think they are all pretty good this year but I love James, Casey, and Pia. I get why people like Scotty, but I'm not one of those people. To me, The American Idol should be able to sing any style of music and so far he has only proved he can sing country. Would he be a train wreck singing a rock song??? Unless he comes out and sings something different he's gotta go.
I agree. He is getting boring. He might be good at country (I don't know....not a fan) but he isn't versatile enough for AI. There are so many others this year who are. I would vote him or Paul off....SOON!
Why should Scotty have to prove he can do anything besides country? It is highly unlikely in his future career that he is going to sing anything but country. Just as Adam took a country song and made it emo, Scotty took a motown song and made it better by making it country. Look for Scotty to be right up there with Carrie Underwood in a couple years. He will make people like you eat your words lol.
The best part of the show is when they acknowledged the funk brothers. There are still some of the Funk Brothers motown great musicians living in Detroit in their 70's and 80's who not only performed on most of the original motown great songs, but had writtien them without great acclaim. These brass, and percussion greats should have their time on Idol also.
Get rid of everyone of these losers.
Jacob Lusk? Seriously? The only thing worse than his singing might be the retarded mini-report that precedes the comments section. Rose and the other retards up there are absolutely out of touch with reality. James is a shrieking copycat, Jacob couldn't possibly be any more of a melodramatic queen... and if I keep going, may vomit all over my laptop. Most of you are perfect examples of the typical ignoramus who has no ear for music or eye for stage presence. This is what America needs? Get over it! This season is like audio terrorism and my ears are the victims. I think Rose should be prosecuted for defamation of character with that inexcusable comparison between that horrible female singer Jacob Lusk and Luther Vandross.
I could not agree with you more!!!
I cringe everytime I hear Jacob Lusk sing. And shame on Randy for applauding him all those times cause he KNOWS better. He's played with and for the best and is a great talent in his own right- so sad he's selling out.
Wow! I'm sure you are just delightful in person. Take it easy man. American Idol is supposed to be fun. If you don't like it, change the channel.
why do you watch if you're so bitter and critical - change the channel. and grow up - stop using the word "retarded"; it's offensive.
Wow – you sound so lonely.
Ryan indicated Hitsville was in the Detroit suburbs. It is in the center of the city of Detroit. Idol has filmed there in the past.
OOops, I meant JACOB. Yeah, he's on another planet, all right!
Why don't you join him. That way the rest of us wouldn't have to listen to you gripe about country music (not hillbilly).
mjinmd: HILLBILLY, REDNECK, YEEHAH....all the same
"Scotty" ("Scott" anywhere else but NC) still sounded like a hillbilly, because that's all he knows how to do. He always sounds like he's falling asleep on his tractor. Time to go, Alfred E. Neumann.....
You, too, Jason; you scream too much.
Agree and disagree.
Yes this is the best American Idol season ever – no doubt in anyone's mind.
Top performers for me – Jacob Lusk is on another planet of his own and is superb!
James is amazing in the rocker category and Haley for her unique rich growly and diverse voice. Scotty will go places no matter what with is silky deep voice.
The rest all very good but will not make it as they have to try to hard.
Those I mentioned don't even have to try – that is how amazing they are. Especially Jacob – when he takes off watch out – he is the next Luther Vandross.
I love how everyone always hates anyone who gives inspiration! Do you really think that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler don't know what they are doing????? They are the ones with mega millions and tons of successes. Figure it out. I would rather be coached from them them rather than someone miserable and sour like Simon. What an idiot.
Millioins???????? Didn't the IRS just come after Jennifer and Mark??
They made millions but that means NOTHING! Great baseball players don't necessarily know how to coach or teach. Having money does not automatically mean you know how to talk and think and teach. Simon was always dead on with his comments. I don't see anything special with any of these singers. They hit the notes. They aren't "pitchy." They're competent, that's all. No one there is a star or an IDOL! Carrie is a star. Doughtry is a star. Tyler is a star (but not a critic). And these three "critic" network stooges might as well join a highschool cheerleading squad. They are unbearably bland and ridiculously pointless with their comments. Enjoy the show Rose. This is America, thank God, and everyone has a right to his or her opinion. Actually, I'm glad you are enjoying it. I wish I could, but I can't.
SCOTTY SUCKS
The judges got a lot of the performances wrong last night. Was depending on Randy to be the "Simon" of the night. Damn...I really missed Simon last night....Simon would have done the following: Slammed Naima's attire by saying it is "hideous;" told Paul he murdered the song and his vocals were terrible; would have told Scotty that motown is not country; told Stefano his interpretation of hello was ghastly! Bottom line...the judges are playing it safe with this group...it is time to start giving it to them straight. As for my favorite performance...Jacob Lusk hands down. I know all may be bothered by his feminism at times...but I am not...the guy has it and will deliver every week! CAN I GET A SIMON COWELL GUEST WEEK?????? JUDGES...GO HARD NEXT WEEK PLEASE! By the way...Steven Tyler is spot on!
Jacob blew out one of my eardrums last night with the screaming, so now I can't watch tonight! He's awful, and he looks like it's painful to sing!
But I agree about "Scotty'...he always makes everything hillbilly.
@dogsrule u suck and you truly do not know music JACOB IS GREAT!!! hands down he know how to control his voice... i think that you are uncomfortable with the way that he carries his self.. I MEAN HE HAD A STANDING OVATION RANDY SAID IT THE BEST PERFORMANCE EVER ON IDOL!!! NOW SCREAMING LETS TALK ABOUT JAMES GROSS HE IS A KNOCKOFF.. AND all he does is scREAM!!! scotty will go places in COUNTRY.. i say he should be voted off and get a record deal or whatever but he doesnt belong here... HALEY IS WONDERFUL I REALLY LOVE HER UNIQUE VOICE..NAIMA WILL GO PLACES AS WELL she has great control of her voice especially dancing during her performance... I LOVE LOVE LAUREN SHE AWESOME AS WELL.. BUT MY AMERICAN IDOL I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IS JACOB HE IS THE BEST.... PIA SHE CAN SING FOR COMMERICALS OR SOMETHING BUT SHE IS NOT A PERFORMER..
Agree 100%
Okay. I was keen on the lack of Simon this year but this cast is literally the worst ever. I have been watching since the first season and have never seen such bad performances. Last night James stood out......thats it. The judging sucks completely. The love.....everything. If Simon was there 90% of them would be close to Top 10.
I could not agree more with you. This ENTIRE cast, with the exception of a few (and barely so) SUCKS. I mean really, I think this was staged to let AI die as X Factor premieres. I dont understand how millions of people tune in every week for this show. The few clips I've heard have literally tortured my ears!
I couldnt agree more!!!
Couldn't disagree more!
What are you talking about? 90% what////
I would like to comment about the judges. The three of them, are, total disappointments as judges. The reason? They are not really judges. They act just like adoring fans. "You were wonderful"; "you were great"! "Unbelievable voice"; etc. etc. And Jennifer, with her phony laugh and calling everyone, "baby"! Please–where is Simon? My friends and I, are thoroughly disgusted at the judges who do not judge at all, but, just say how wonderful everyone is. The judges' main goal seem to be on television and talk. They do not act as judges. Whoever is paying them, to "judge", should get a big refund! They are not doing the job as "judges'! Anyone in the audience can do the same thing as them–tell everyone how wonderful they are. So–what is the conclusion? The shows are getting very, very dull and borning!. Thank you.
I agree that Steven Tyler is not acting as a judge; they need to feed him lines to say when he judges. He's got to stop being so nice. That said, I love him –he's a hoot! I disagree about Jennifer and Randy - they do try to give constructive criticism.
Lets not forget JLo's an actress and judges like one. How many more "Oprah-like" shots of her during the comp can we have?
I want Haley to go. I never liked her from the very beginning. Both she and Lauren don't add anything special to today's music scene. People like Casey, Paul, Scotty, Naima, Jacob and James are what modern American music needs – something fresh, new and different.
What in the WORLD is "fresh and new" about hillbilly singing?????????????????????????? Scotty sucks. Back to the trailer, y'all. Lauren, too!
Dogs Rule,
We get it already... You don't like country music. Whether you like it or not, Scotty has a great voice and will be signed by someone. Country music is a very big industry (i.e. Carrie Underwood) for idols and he has the talent, charm and voice to make it big. The fact is that this is a Very talented group this year. Some stand out more than others. Scotty should be there till the top 5 as will Jacob, Pia (wow – she is the best vocal wise), James, Thia. Not sure if the voters are going to want to keep seeing Paul every week with his style (I do like him, just not for everyone). Same with Casey (and my fav music is Jazz), so I really like his style, but I don't think it will take him to the end. If the rest don't get it together, I don't see my top 5 changing. It's definitely the best year of talent they've had.
Thank you, Rich. I get really tired of people putting country music singers down. I'd sure be glad to take a cut from any one of their paychecks.
Rich, Scotty would be great in a Randy Travis Cover band. Seriously, he could make a killing doing the Michael Bolton thing and covering songs from a lot of the Big country stars of the 80's & early 90's .
Scotty brings nothing to the table that Josh Turner hasn't already. He's terrible and I've seen tons of acts in country music that can outshine him.
i dont like country music either but i remember Dogs Rule from previous seasons and his posts are awaysl negative one-notes and not worth replying to ... please dont encourage this dirty dog
I think they all did pretty well, its hard to think who will be in the bottom three.
Based on voice, performance and wow-factor, I'd say the bottom 3 are Casey, Thia and Scotty quite definitively.
None will be in the bottom three
Casey – are you kidding? He is probably the most overall talented in the bunch but will probably suffer from Taylor Hicks Syndrome.
Haley has got to go. She sounds like Cookie Monster.
LOL!!! true!
Who cares how she sings – she is so F'n HOT
They were all pretty good for sure. Jacob was very, very good and put all his heart and soul into that song. Best of the night.
James was also very good, but not his best performance.
Pia is so talented, but thinks she has it won and is going through the motions. She needs to find her joy in her music.
Scotty... Dude put a hat on. Your good but you remind me of George Bush everytime I look at you! Too Funny.
Stefano rounds out my top 5. Like Pia you need to find your love of music and let those feelings come out during your performance. My old highschool choral group was named "Shiveson" it is Hungarian and means "From the Heart" Find your inner Shiveson and you could go far. If not you will fall behind.
The rest will fall away. There all good, but will go sooner or later.
My guess is if Paul is the one voted off tomorrow the Judges will save him. I would not.
I bet they'd save Paul, too, But, tonight it's Haley who's going!
Scotty = Alfred E Newman
Scotty says: "What, me worry?"
I personally think Scotty looks more like Alfred E Newman from mad magazine. But if he put a hat on he'd cinch
the mad lookalike.
He's got a great voice for country music. If Kelly Pickler can make it then so can Scotty. Losing might actually be good for his career
Naima is by far the best. Soulful. Very creative. But its a cultural thing. She, distinctly has the African American flavor and should prove to be far better than previous African American Idol winners.
Naima looks and sounds like a train wreck!
Close your eyes and listen to her voice alone. She is flat, has no range, and shouts her lyrics. As Simon used to point out and everyone this year seems to have forgotten, this is a SINGING show.
Paul must go. The voice grates on me. Sounds like a cross between Rod Stewart and the AFLAC duck. I really like Naima. She is a diamond in the rough but likely will go due to her limited range. Haley is a yawner. Love Pia but she needs to come alive on stage. Jacob is letting me down after a strong start. Scotty can do no wrong but the package is all James. Scotty will be a country star regardless. I may even start listening to country music now!
We fast forward Scott every week so as NOT to have to listen to his hillbilly twanging. This ain't Country Idol, y'all. yeehah
I totally agree this is not country idol...
"Not Country Idol". What could be more American Idol than someone singing country? Take your biases and bury them. Scotty will do well, longer than a lot of the contestants. At least with a country song you can understand the words.
I agree, Paul is awful and each week I wonder who are the judges talking about when they praise him.
I'll admit that Paul hasn't sounded the best on AI–but I saw his band several times last year and he ALWAYS sounded good then. No matter what I hope he and his band find bigger success!
I think this years talent has been the most enjoyable to watch. The judges make a great difference as well. We look forward to the nights it is on. I think they shoud all winn!!!!
PLEASE, before I stab my eyes out... GET RID OF PAUL!!! Just P-A-I-N-F-U-L!!
Yes PLEASE! He can't sing....can you say AWFUL!!
Agreed! Every song sounds the same, like a 102 year old, whispering, out of tune Rod Stewart
YES ! so true Paul has got to go................. no comparison to Kenny Loggins or Rod Stewart Please.........
Agree. Never understood why Paul made it into the top "13."
Also agree with those who think Pia is boring and Scotty has little to offer.
I'd keep Thia around, though. She might surprise everyone once she starts letting it loose more and more.
I think that Haley has a terrific voice but she looks too clean cut for her type of voice. Usually I don't like the makeovers (they ruined Kelly Pickler), but, this time, Haley could use some help.....she does need to look more "street."
well thats totally a matter of opinion because I completely disagree. I think he's the most talented and I also think he's the most unique. I know 5 people that watched the show last night and he's 3 of them's faveorite and 1 of them's 2nd fave.
Totally disagree! I LOVE Paul, he is by far my favorite! I know he won't make it too far because he is so orginal and all the teeny-bopper voters out there only go for the "cookie-cutter" star. Hoping he gets some good exposure out of the show thou so I can hear more of him one day!
Paul has a wonderful future.... with Crest Whitestrips! That's it!
Once they get to about 6 or 7, they should stop and declare them all winners. It's going to be really tough to pick a stand out winner.
Naima was, again, the worst of the night. But in the overall scheme of things, she doesn't suck at the level Sanjaya did. But she is far and away the most outclassed in this group. Most impressive of the night was Scotty. Motown is so far away from his comfort zone, but he did a great job picking a song he can do his way. While not the best of the night, he pulled it off. It's been fun seeing Ryan let loose without fear of retrubution from Simon. I think he's having the most fun out of all 10 seasons. The star of the night was Jacob. Truly amazing performance.
What?
Wow! We watched two different shows!
I agree. I was laughing so hard after Naima I almost fell off the couch. I'm guessing bottom 3 – Stefano, Haley and Thia. I don't care for Pia (no depth there) but Mr. Tyler cannot keep his eyes off.... I miss Simon. I'm guessing Simon would say – "Over indulgent"; "You think you did better than you really did"; "Lounge act, kareoke"....
I can't believe you would bring IDOL of the Millenium and Heart throb of teenagers Sanjaya into this equation. Nobody and I MEAN NOBODY equates to Sanjaya. Go home, time at the library is up!
Wow I watched a different show too because I thought Scotty was soooooo awkward on stage and sounds the same no matter what he sings. He has no range. I thought Paul was absolutely awesome last night. I thought Lauren made a nice comeback. Pia is getting totally boring. I think the guys are doing much better than the girls this year.
I had almost forgot about Sanjaya thanks for bringing that unpleasant memory back. I certainly don't get Naima and the good reviews. Bad vocals and when did dancing become a part of AI. I didn't even like the dancing. I'm sorry African dance doesn't belong with Motown. I do like Paul's quirky voice or maybe it's his drop dead looks...Okay bottom three. Scotty, Naima, and Stefano.
Scotty.......UGH – ol Alfred E with his truck driving voice – a one trick pony. I hope he goes tonight!
Pia has a beautiful voice but no stage presence at all. Thia is good but a little young and not able to rock an audience. Haley is my favorite among the females. Love James–but also enjoy Casey, Paul, and Scotty. Going to be a tough season to lose these contestants.
Thia, Haley, and Naima should be the bottom 3. Pia is nothing more than a cover singer, same as Karen Rodriguez, and she does not have her own sound or style. Jacob is so over-the-top and overwrought that he is hard to listen to.
My favorites are Casey, James, Paul, Scotty and Lauren – because they have something original about them.
I agree with you about Jacob...he just screams...I think he is totally overrated!
I beg to differ on Scotty's originality. He turns everything he sings into a traditional country song. I can't bear to watch that raised lip, lean to the right and tilted microphone anymore. And I WANT to root for Scotty since he lives about 15 minutes away and my son used to play baseball with him.
I agree; Scotty is EXACTLY like Josh Turner, and should leave it there. I really liked him in the beginning, but last night he actually creeped me out. I'm tired of the way his face contorts, and did you see how weird his moves were??? Feel bad, but he's very limited...
I agree, James just screams. He reminds me of Adam Lambert, and that is not a good thing (in my opinion). I think it's astonishing that he has Asperger's and Tourettes and performs the way that he does (I am talking about the social standpoint), but he should make it through on talent and NOT due to those disorders.
I so agree I can not stand Jacob he screams and is tone deaf too I think. I can not stand watching him preform. I would never pay money to see him
Those are my picks exactly. This year the boys are much more interesting than the girls. Look for two or three more girls to go before any boys do.
Yeah, I agree too. Jacob screams too much and moves like a heavyset woman.
I believe we finally saw Haley find her zone tonight and that will save her. However, Thia & Stefano just didn't do enough to impress the voters. Motown was a tough draw for those two, especially considering that they are not particularily soulful. Thia may be on her way out.
Jacob & Lauren's performances were spot on.
I disagree. I think Thia and Langone will be the bottom two. Don't know who will round out the bottom three. I do agree, though, that this is the most talented group of contestants and, adding the judges into the mix, the strongest season. (Like Jude, I missed the first two seasons.) The talent is remarkable, the styles unique, and the personalities and presence on staqe are each unique. Each and all of the eleven could go national. Amazing group.
Chopper the judges are NOT good. All they do is tell everyone they are wonderful.. TO buddy buddy with the contestants! If they are all good singers then you need to get more critical of missed notes, pitchyiness, and boring performances. Not sure how much control the contestants really have this year. They all seem to be programmed by mr. lovine and his "producers". I can get that on a cruise ship or a beauty pagent.
hystoracle, That's cool, but we'll have disagree. Yes, J-Lo and Tyler seem easier to please than past judges, but you can also think of it the three as being more encouraging and facilitating. Randy has come on strong about pitchiness, etc., but wasn't last night. Maybe he felt it wasn't enought of problem at this point? I don't know, but I don't think the less of his judging ability for it. J-Lo and Tyler are technically very astute, as their comments (particularly J-Lo) demonstrate. Fact is, the trio is simply different from the previous sets of judges (two new judges, and the way Randy interacts with them versus the previous several). Wouldn't want them to be the same. Anyway, we'll see tonight who winds up in the bottom three. The judges can influence (Tyler and Ryan went overboard with Jacob Lusk), but in the end it's the voters. No accounting for tastes! 🙂
James was by far the best of the night! Hand down! And as usual Namia sucked. What the hell were those pants she was wearing? Horrible wreck if you as me. She should definately get the boot. Cant stand her. All others were pretty good. Thia improved the most. Pia excellent singer but boring. Scotty will go far regardless. Stephano sucked as well. Just dont like him. Best season out of all 10 so far.
I totally agree with you Heidi Ho – Naima needs to go!!! Did you see her right before they told her last week that she was in the bottom 3 – what a brat!!! She needs to give this up – she doesn't have the kind of talent that is required for this. She should look into being a dental assistant so she can get those horse teeth shaved down a bit.
Paul freakishly reminds me of James Blunt.
Well, I have to say this is by far the best season ever. The talent is incredible. Though I don't care for Niama, she did a good job last night. I think Stefano has an awesome voice, but he butchered Lionel Ritchie's song last night. Pia will have a great career, but she's labeling herself as a ballad singer, which could make it very hard for her to shake once the show is over. Jacob Lusk will also have a great career, but he moves like a woman. I like Scotty, but his range is literally non-existant. James Durbin is really good also, I just hope fame doesn't go to his head much too soon. Paul is just freaking weird. His quirkiness WAS interesting and set him apart, but now it's starting to become irritating. Jennifer Lopez is the real deal though. She is absolutely what this show needed. My only problem with this season is that they've replaced the celebrity mentors with these producers that no one has heard of or even care about. Had Lionel Ritchie been on the show last night, he could have given Stefano great guidance that would have prevented the utter massacre that was Hello. AI looks like it has new life, but I say get rid of the backstage camera after the singers come off stage, and get back to having the true artists as mentors.
WOW ... they are all soooo good. Tough call. My vote off would be Paul. He is just too quirky of an entertainer for my tastes. Sure his voice is raspy and unusual, but I would not pay good money to watch him perform. Just sayin... I still like Naima. I think she has great potential. It is really hard to dance and sing on stage. There are just a handful of iconic entertainers who could pull this off. Michael Jackson for sure was the epitome of doing that. Wish there were more total entertainers out there but the MJ's come along once in a lifetime. Pia has the package and a super voice but is kinda of boring as a performer. She just doesn't set the stage on fire. I not only enjoy great pipes but want to see some showmanship. Work that stage and entertainer me please ....!
i agree...
Bottom three will be Stefano (I am tired of his girlie voice), Paul (a lounge imitation of Rod Stewart), and Hailey (if her eyes were any closer together, they'd call her Cyclops).
Notice when they played the highlights... Naima's highlight was her dance. That was the best performance she's had so far and it doesn't touch anyone else on that stage. She doesn't have very much vocal talent
I'm a 62 year old grandma and I'm not into heavy metal or funky stuff – but I'm rooting for James. I think he's got such great talent. It's hard for me to pick my favorite this year, but I love Pia and I love James. Either one could be the next Idol. This season, in my opinion, has the most talent of any season I've watched (I missed out on the first 2 seasons).
@ age apparently...
Wow, you're a bit of a d*ck, aren't you?
She just stated her opinion and clearly stated it was an opinion, you can certainly disagree but you don't have to imply that she's dumb or has no taste.
Don't be mad, Kellie. The kid just wants to enjoy his day off from school. He didn't want to take his multiplication test because it was "too hard."
I think you got it right, Lisa.
I must be missing something, because I have never been this bored by an Idol season- and I've watched all of them. They all seem to have good voices, but they are all selecting songs that have been done a million times on the show, and they aren't doing anything new with it. Even Pia is boring. James has a good "rocker" voice, but it doesn't seem genuine at all. It just seems like something he can do. He isn't trying to do anything with his "ability" other than sound almost exactly like Adam Lambert when he did high energy songs. Even Jacob, who is probably the most vocally talented, is unoriginal, and uninspired. The way he phrases a song has been done, regardless of the song he chooses. As a result, I have yet to be impressed by a single performance of his. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood- both have a very unique tone to their voices that made them stand out VERY early in the season. No one in the top 11 stands out as unique, or "special". No "wow" moments yet. In typical Idol Fashion (after season 5), everyone had one goal: make the top 10. No one seems "in it to win it", no matter how much the judges over inflate their comments. Someone, anyone in the top 10 next week- do something, anything. Just do something BIG. Stand Out – make a name for yourself. Stop resting on "I've made it as far as I had hoped", and do something to make me remember you. As a real Idol fan (not just of the show, but of the contestants over the years), the only reason I remember any of them is by the jokes I made about them last night. Seriously Naima – save the -ahem-Dancing for the video if you win. Show me how talented you are- not how well you -ahem-move. Based on last night, and last night only, the bottom 3 should very well be: Thia, Haley, and Scotty.
@james – Naima is quite a well known and successful dancer in Milwaukee. If African and/or modern dance isn't to your taste that's fine, however, i think she is a good singer and performer, but more than anything she's a talented dancer.
imo James, yes, you are missing something. One of the best nights of idol ever. Not a weak performance of the 11. respect your insight though. all the songs Kelly and Carrie did had been done before as well. I think there's a wide array of styles which makes it interesting for me. Bottom 3: Scotty, Lauren, Haley. Naima's effort was stellar. great vocals, perfect for her voice, emotion, connection with the song, owning the stage. Why not a little dance that she created?! Certainly an effort to stand out.
@James, You aren't missing it. It is boring! They sing good to great but they are all the same overproduced singers. there is no real personality to the show. They are all basically the same. Idol is trying so hard they have taken the life from the show. It's dull.. Someone goes up sings. Does a decent to good job. Then the judges fall all over themselves telling the contestant how the sun shines out their rear. If there is any critique it's superficial, like telling Pia she need to walk around the stage and do something other then a ballad. Someone who is a "judge" needs to get a backbone and get a little edgy with the comments. Say what you want about Simon but his snarky comments are what's missing from the show. It provided drama and someone for the viewers and crowd to hate.
This is the best talent class overall since the start; Simon is badly missed. More difficult than picking who goes out tonight is who the last three will be. My picks: Casey, Lauren, James.
@james I'm not sure I even get what your saying at all, except maybe the 'same songs' thing, but even then, we've seen both Judas Priest and Nirvana songs in the last couple weeks. Both Casey and Paul have personality and unique style dripping off of them. PIa already has a WoW moment. Durbin is owning the stage. The only really boring one is Stefano, mabye, and he is doing a pretty good job.
James, you are DEFINITELY missing something. This is easily the best group of singers Idol has ever had at this stage of the game. In my opinion any one of them could make a good living on their talent. In the past even the winners failed to impress me.
The bottom three will be Paul (boring, not much range), Scotty (nice country voice, but lacks range and interest), and probably Casey (always sounds the same). Surprises were Thia, Naiema, and Lauren. Clearly, this is the best year yet for Idol. The new panel of judges begs the question, "Simon who?"
OMG, I've watched every season, and although I like some of these guys I was COMPLETELY BORED last night. Some decent performances, but I need some current music. Pia is the best singer, w/ Jacob a very close second. But I think Stefano/Lauren could be the most relevant today. Scotty....... not even very good at country. He's ok, but a billion other kids could karaoke those songs.
James you are way off and mmissing it all. Best talent of top 11 ever. You just miss Simon and his nastiness, but the talent is excellent. Loved Naima last night, and the judges are urging more stage presence from them all so Naima not only sang graet, she entertained as well. James is great too!
Tough to pick Bottom 3, but from last night I would say: Paul, Stefan and Hayley.
Fran Glass– That was Dancing??? I thought she was having a siezure.
Please for the love of God get rid of Scotty
