When Cher made a surprise appearance at the 2010 Country Music Awards, the audience was a bit confused. “My being present here tonight is probably not as strange as it may seem,” Cher said. “I have a few country creds.”
It’s making more sense now – music producer Mark Bright has confirmed Cher will be recording a country album in the near future. Bright is known for his work with stars Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts and Reba McEntire.
“Cher knows that her listeners also listen to country music, so she felt it was a natural thing to develop a country music relationship,” Bright told Silk and Denim Music.
It’s been 10 years since Cher last released a solo album - 2001’s “Living Proof” debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart but didn’t see the success of its predecessor “Believe.” Since then, Cher’s been appearing in Las Vegas and on the big screen. Her movie “Burlesque” made approximately $39 million at the domestic box office.
There is no word on the release date for Cher’s country debut yet. Are you eagerly awaiting its arrival?
