'SATC 2' star accepts Razzie award

When the cast of “Sex and the City 2” won the 2010 Razzie for Worst Screen Ensemble, no one jumped up to accept the award à la Sandra Bullock or Halle Berry in years past.

But more than two weeks later, one of the film’s stars is publicly claiming the $4.97 statue.

“He said that he had never won an award of any kind and if this was what he won, he would accept it,” Razzie founder John Wilson remembers with a laugh.

Known to most of us as Miranda’s husband Steve, David Eigenberg contacted Wilson via email in hopes of collaborating on an acceptance video. The result is a 2 minute YouTube clip featuring Eigenberg, his wife Chrysti, his son Louie and the little golden Razzie.

“Fine, if I gotta take the heat for an entire ensemble of a movie I was only in for three minutes, cool. I’ll do it,” Eigenberg says in the video.

Wilson notes that Eigenberg was more than willing to poke fun at himself and at the movie, which earned horrible reviews after its May 2010 release. The film stars “SATC” regulars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

“Probably most of our members were thinking of the gals [when selecting the film] for this category,” Wilson admits, “but it does say the entire cast.”

“It’s mine, and it’s kind of sexy,” Eigenberg says, keeping in theme with the clip's tagline: “If you can’t escape it, embrace it.”
