Hello? Is it Lionel Richie you're looking for?

If you've been looking for Lionel Richie ever since the release of his 1984 hit "Hello," you're not alone.

New Yorkers have been stuck on the star lately thanks to a series of personal-ad-style signs that are popping up all over Brooklyn.

The signs feature a retro black-and-white photo of Richie along with the header "Hello?" and the caption "Is it me you're looking for?" At the bottom of the page are several tear-off strips, but instead of contact telephone numbers, each strip includes a lyric to "Hello."

One hipster tipster spotted Richie hanging in an apartment building lobby while others have spied him on the streets.

The video for "Hello" featured Richie falling for a blind girl, and the single spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

No word on how long the "Hello" poster campaign will continue, but chances are, more than a few Brooklynites have been up "All Night Long" searching for the signs.

I love that song. Lmao. I think the poster is hilarious. It's those stupid little moments like when you find one (the poster) that make life what it is.

For those who have been following the mysterious saga of the Lionel Richie "Hello?" poster - which first surfaced in Cabbagetown, not New York (ahem!) - and who may want to *correctly* copy and distribute the poster, here's the site where the artist is giving free access.

Cool idea! Yes, we need Lionel tocome back and make some hits again. Just tired of one hit wonders in the music business today, and just meaningless lyrics and studio made crap that they cannot perform with instruments.

Yeah, I'm sure Bono is a real idiot. Made hundreds of millions, has one of the most successful bands in history, and has done more humanitarian work than greenpeace. You're probably right though, it's not enough. TIP: first think, THEN speak. It's easier that way 🙂

Why would you say something so mean about his daughter? What did she ever do to you? It's a silly poster! Is it fun being mean spirited just because you can?

This reminds me of "Jeff Goldblum is Watching You Poop." I stumbled upon a website in 2004 that had a picture of Goldblum with text that said that. The site urged people to print the picture and place them in random bathrooms and if you ever saw one, they wanted you to send them a photo and a story about where you saw it.

Lionel went underground as soon as the footage of him entertaining Ghaddafi in Libya surfaced on network TV. Maybe he can use Libya's money he got to buy back all the copies of the "We are the World"re-make which destroyed the original 1985 classic!
