Christina Aguilera to coach 'The Voice'

After making headlines for her recent arrest, Christina Aguilera is back in the news for her arresting vocals. The Grammy-winning star has just landed a gig as a coach on NBC's upcoming singing competition, "The Voice."

As Marquee previously reported, "The Voice" is based on a Dutch reality series in which four celebrity coaches sit with their backs to contestants during auditions and blindly select those they want to take on as students. Each coach builds a team and brings in personal producers and songwriters to help their students evolve before pitting them against each other.

"I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it," says Aguilera, who joins fellow coaches Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine. "To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists' careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms."

Adds executive producer Mark Burnett, "Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of 'The Voice.'"

"The Voice" premieres on NBC on April 26.

Aguilera as a voice coach? What a farce. Maybe she can learn how to sing the National Anthem without acting like she is having a seizure .. and sounding like a tortured animal. Maybe she can learn to stand still through the entire two stanzas and act like an adult woman. Maybe. But don't bet on it. (Maybe she wants to be like Jane Fonda)

Christina is beautiful no matter what others say, words can't bring her down. So pls don't bring her down. Her music has grown up with us since I was in Junior high. She will be there forever because her passion, her gift, her destiny is to sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People hate her because she has been always unfairly put to comparison with other females (first britney, then mariah, then lady gaga...) BY MEDIA. Her voice is unique and powerful, her performance is full of energy, she is doing her own thing, there is nothing worthy of comparing!!!! She has all those problem today all because of those media's unfair comparison!!!!! So pls stop blaming this woman who has THE REAL TALENT anymore, thax!!!

She will be fine as long as she doesn't have to know the words.
