When Megan Mullally first guest starred on "Parks and Recreation" last season as Ron Swanson's ex-wife Tammy, the result was an uproarious performance by both of them, with Leslie Knope – who thinks of Tammy as a "manipulative, psychotic, library-book-peddling, sex-crazed she-demon" – stuck in the middle.
This time, Ron is happily dating Tom's ex-wife - that is, until she broke it off because she wanted to move to Canada. When she asked the ever-patriotic Ron if he wanted to move to Canada, his response was to nearly spit out his coffee.
Later that night, at a benefit for the Pawnee police department, Tom showed up with Tammy in tow to get a little old-fashioned revenge. It wasn't long before Tammy struck Tom, and four officers responded immediately - hilarious to see each of them describe what took place to the camera, "Cops" style.
All of this ended with a wild night, where Ron got cornrows, the pair got re-married and then ended up in prison for consummating right there in the court house. (One has to think that the fact that Nick Offerman is married to Mullally helps them pull off these side-splitting, er, passionate scenes.)
Ron was ordered to stay 500 feet away from the library (Leslie called that "good advice for us all"), but it didn't help.
Once again, Leslie has to (quite literally) intervene, while Ben just wants to get some assistance with the harvest festival. Needless to say, it was the worst intervention ever, with Jerry bringing along a wedding present, and Andy not entirely sure what they're doing. Even Ron Swanson, on video, telling Ron Swanson he had "danced with the devil" didn't help.
It was only when Tom revealed the truth about Tammy, that this was all part of her sick revenge game, and Tammy beat him up and threw him around like a rag doll that Ron snapped out of it. It's great to see our Ron back, "high and tight."
Another genius storyline: April Ludgate(!) filling in as Post-it note-loving Chris's secretary. You will not find more polar opposites in this world. When she was told to let Ann Perkins(!) know that he wouldn't make their lunch date, she decided to do so by picking up a nonexistent phone to call her.
Ann got back at her the best way she knew how: telling Chris that she did her job very well, and even sending flowers. (Of course, Chris thinks that someone walking promptly through a doorway is a sign of a great employee.)
Andy once again rescued April from this fate, and I'm just dying to see them get together already.
