'Twilight,' Jennifer Aniston nab Razzie nominations

The Oscar nominees won't be announced until tomorrow, but in the meantime there are contenders for an even more eagerly anticipated prize: the Razzies, which honors the year's worst films and actors.

While "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" did big box office, it also made a killing with the Razzies, earning nominations for worst picture, worst actor (Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner each got a nod), worst actress (Kristen Stewart) and worst supporting actor (Jackson Rathbone).

"Sex & the City 2" was more fizzle than sizzle, earning a worst picture nomination as well as a collective worst actress nod for all four of its leading ladies.

Jennifer Aniston may have flopped in theaters, but she was a Razzies sweetheart, landing on the worst movie and worst actress list for "The Bounty Hunter," plus getting an additional worst actress nomination for "The Switch."

Jessica Alba fared even worse, getting a worst actress nomination for four of her 2010 films: "The Killer Inside Me," "Little Fockers," "Machete" and "Valentine's Day."

Will Alba follow in the footsteps of Halle Berry ("Catwoman") and Sandra Bullock ("All About Steve") and pick up her award in person if she wins? Find out when the Razzies are presented on February 26.

i'm surprised it took the Razzie committee this long to nominate Jennifer Aniston. ever since the end of Friends she's been churning out one bland, unforgettable performance after another. people have been giving her a pass because of the events in her personal life.
jessica Alba is a horrible actress. i don't think she has given one decent performance but she actually did a surprisingly good job in the killer inside me and her nomination is undeserved.
the last Airbender should be the nail in M. Night Shyamalyn's career.

Too bad there's no TV categories, Lost would sweep them. Foxy for worst/most overpaid actor; Terry O'Quinn, Evangeline Lilly, Josh Holloway, Elizabeth Micthell, et al for biggest waste of acting talent; Damon Lindelof for worst writer/biggest whiner; Josh Holloway and Elizabeth Mitchell for most horribly acted romance (sorry, guys); and of course worst series finale of all time.

I hope Twilight pulls all the winnings it was nominated for. When judging the films for the acting talents, screenplay, art direction, special effects, etc. that film series really is THAT Bad. Ever wonder why the only two awards ceremonies Twilight has made nominations into is the Razzies and MTV movie awards(voted for by teens and twitards, only reason Twilight pulled awards here)? cough...From a viewpoint judging Twilight as a film and not just because its "Twilight", it has all the right Fail to win these awards.

I've learned if Jennifer Anniston is starring in a movie - she generally plays a certain type of character over & over again. Cable had a Jennifer Anniston movie marathon = I only lasted 3-4 flicks until I pulled the plug. Until then I never realized how similar many of her roles are since I would generally just see her once or twice a year in a current flick. Boring! Why doesn't she take any risks in the movies she chooses? Is it because she is comfortable that her characters have zero depth & that matches her skills?

The Last Airbender was the worse. M. Night Shyamalan obviously never bothered to actually LOOK at the original Nicktoon series (which is really a quite good series). He chopped up the plot, the cast was horrible, and he had the nerve to try to set it up for a sequel (which given how badly this film was panned probably WON'T happen. Thank goodness), well if he was going to try to mimic the original it would be two sequels.

What happened to M. Night Shyamalan? He had a few decent movies then he started putting out heaping piles of FAIL!

Most critics said that Eclipse was the best of the three, so I was surprised by this. I just saw New Dawn on TV and it wasn't that bad. My gut feeling is that the Razzies want to make a name for itself by going after 'hot' movies. And I do think the most of Kristen, so calling her the worst is ridiculous (even though I didn't see the movie).

The Twilight Saga Eclipse nods 9 nominations? Granted, not the best movie of the year, but I can name at least 10 movies as far worse. Some include such notables as Jonnhy Depp, Angelina Jolie, Robert Downey Jr., Julia Roberts, get my drift?
Ok, so Kristen Stewart is terrible as Bella, but Robert Patterson, though not his best work, was not so bad. I guess I have bad taste, because I thought Vampires Suck was pretty funny.

Say what you will about Jen Aniston, but to say that she "flopped" in theaters is just dishonest and and lazy reporting.

Bounty Hunter had a $40m budget and earned over $150m worldwide.

Along Came Polly had a $42m budget and earned over $170m worldwide.

Marley and Me had only a $10m budget and earned over $250m worldwide.

And there are many more with similar lines (He's Just Not That into You, Bruce Almighty, etc.).

These aren't Citizen Kane. But they made a lot of money.

Do people here really wonder why she keeps getting big roles? Really?

Truth is – as long as Jennifer's movies haul in the mega bucks per cost, why wouldn't she still get the parts? I did see Bruce Almighty, but don't recall any others so I don't know much about her acting. I do know that hauling in the box office bucks guarantees her more films to come, if she wants them.

    Hey Dave,
If you are going to slam people on their incorrect spelling just because you don't agree with their point of view, you should probably get a dictionary and check your own grammar.
When you wrote "site", the correct word in your sentence should have been "cite", as in "to give an example or quote".
The word site refers to the scene of a specified event.
I am assuming that you are one of those people who likes to be corrected since you're so good at correcting others.

Where are all of the artsy-fartsy, suck-the-life out of you movies? There were plenty of 'well-reviewed' movies this year that left me with a burning desire to see if I could have them surgically removed from my brain with a claw hammer. Surely it could not hurt more than watching some of that drivel. It's easy to pick on the low hanging fruit, but come on, Razziers, aim higher and give us some of the 'loved by critics' movies to make your list semi-legitimate.

I used to enjoy the Razzies when they actually went after the terrible film makers and actors out there. They used to come up with the best stuff. Unfortunately, they realized there is no money to be made going after films people never heard of, so all the Razzies do now is the exact opposite of what they were intended to do. All the Razzies do is confirm who the most popular actors are of the year. If you win a Razzie, there's a very high chance you raked in a lot of money that year. Doing it this way just means the Razzies get a lot of exposure, since you can't make fun of high profile people to the masses and get ignored. Razzies are a great idea that had to go mainstream in order to survive and now they are just a place for failed actors and people who go out of their way to be "different" to make fun of those who are successful.

Clearly you guys are offended on being called out for your terrible taste in movies. Sorry, but every movie that was nominated was god awful. Some movies are just objectively bad and are only worthwhile to people with subpar IQ's. You guys fall into that category.

And yet they keep paying Jennifer Aniston to make one bomb after the other. When will Hollywood wake up? Never!

The Last Airbender was horrible if you have ever watched the cartoon. They took an overall smiling, happy kid and turned him into this brooding... whatever. Supporting characters were, well okay so theoretically they shared the same names, even if the pronunciations were horrid.

Shamalamadingdong needs to stop messing with movies. Seriously. The Sixth Sense was good. Signs was not bad. Unbreakable didn't even suck. But lately... someone needs to take away his camera or something.

Oh I know practice makes perfect, but, not with her. Spare us all the pain..

I have to agree with previous comments that the The Last Airbender was not that bad. For taking 20 episodes of a TV show and trying to cram it all in to one movie, character development is going to suffer a bit. The actors could have been picked better, for sure (perhaps a Zuko who was actually bald), and the acting wasn't great, but it was a MUCH better movie than most of these others on this list.

i never understood the uproar over last air bender. it was not a bad movie. people were basing their opinions of the movie against an entire series of videos or books, not the same and cannot be compared fairly. keeping in mind its audience is young people i cant see it being panned the way it is. people who thought this was a terrible movie havent seen enough bad movies.

I still liked The Last Airbender. Granted, the acting was bad, but if you've seen all the cartoons (which I, unfortunately have numerous times thanks to my 5 year old), the plot was pretty spot on. So, the movie plot/scenery/etc was good. The acting... not so much.

My wife and I enjoyed the SatC series and the first movie, but the second movie was the worst. The writing and acting was gawd awful. It deserves to win the Razzie for worst picture because it really disappointed fans. No one expects much from Twilight, I mean come on, nor does anyone expect much from M. Night anymore. Also if Jennifer Aniston ever leaves Hollywood then so does the romantic "comedy" genre. She's got to give it a rest. Jason Bateman is a great comedic actor/straight man and he didn't deserve The Switch.

My feeling about SATC 2 is that they've already invested the money and it became the point of no return. Half way into the movie I'm sure they saw how large of a disaster it was going to be.

She failed miserably as an actress after FRIENDS. Her personal relationships have all been failures, including her marriage to Brad Pitt. Lately she's been on magazine covers barely dressed (you may have a cute body but you should leave this for Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift). She needs to re-invent herself or find another career. Gerard Butler, as her closed friend tell her the Ugly Truth about men/women relationships.

I agree. The Sixth Sense was the only one worth watching. I was able to guess the whole plot of The Village 20 minutes in because he ripped it off from a book called Running Out of Time that I read when I was a kid. The book was written in the mid 90s so it definitely came first. Seriously if you don't believe me read this: http://www.helium.com/items/1189215-running-out-of-time-plot-summary-margaret-peterson-haddix

I tried to watch the first one when it came to cable, got about 40 minutes in and gave up on finding any redeeming qualities. Some of the actors look nice when you see them in other work where they actually crack a smile now and then, but in this series, everyone is so serious and so unhappy. Boring.

That's pretty pathetic if you think those stinkers were "the only movies made this year". You really need to broaden your scope. The word is "supposed", by the way, but maybe that kind of explains why you think those were the only movies made this year.

I agree, the Tourist was horrible. Nobody nominated Xtina because she's not famous enough. They don't care enough to nominate her. If you look at the nominations, they are big stars that have had otherwise incredible success. Xtina has sucked for years, her last album flopped. Cher is an icon that's why she's on the list. They only pick of the most famous people. Razzie people are mostly just jealous of these people IMO.
