Rosie O'Donnell to host OWN doc seriesChaz Bono will get the Rosie O'Donnell treatment following his OWN documentary. Oprah's network announced on Thursday that O'Donnell will host a one-hour special following the world television premiere of “Becoming Chaz” in May. The special will feature Chaz Bono, his girlfriend Jennifer Elia and filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, who will discuss the film. “Becoming Chaz” will be the first documentary film to air as part of the OWN Documentary Film Club, and the network said O'Donnell "will be a collaborator for the OWN Documentary Film Club, selecting key films and hosting specials that inspire deeper conversations following their on-air premiere." “We are thrilled to have Rosie be a part of the OWN Documentary Film Club,” said Lisa Erspamer, chief creative officer for OWN. “She has a great enthusiasm and sensibility for documentaries, and is the perfect choice to host the specials.” The duties will be in addition to the already planned new talk show "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," set to air on OWN this year. “I love watching every documentary," O'Donnell said in a press release. "It excites me to know that OWN is as passionate about documentary films and storytelling as I am."

Rosie O'Donnell is just another ego driven, not that talented, and often crass celebrity. She's smart about keeping her 'name/brand' in the media's spotlight, but too often at the expense of others. Remember last year's Oprah interview- all about being "authentic"? Just wait.
funny they are giving her a show when during her own show is denied being gay and now she is getting another show. i was watching the new network but now i think i will find something else to watch. she sure is getting alot of air time for being such a big mouth. i used to like her but she is a liar and not to mention a cheat. her last show didn't last and if this is what we have to look forward to her network is not going to last long.
I wonder if she will start out saying how Tom Cruise is so handsome and would marry him?

Why do people hate her so much? Sure she is not very attractive but that isn't a reason to hate. She hasn't done anything wrong but everything good. And her remarks about Trump was to protect young girls from making a mistake.
Thank you Homer! I agree. I've always enjoyed her truth and people who hate (the people who always jump to calling her "fat" and "ugly") don't understand and clearly, are uneducated. Honestly, Rosie O'Donnell is a pioneer for women, children, gays, 9/11 first responders, low-income families.... look it up!
First off, it's not the looks that turn me off. It's her personality (poor) and her approach to things. She may say things as she sees them, which is commendable... but she does it in a classless manner. I'm sorry, but when you start talking out of your bum there really isn't any "good" coming out of that.

I believe that Odonnell can host a doc series, but the journalistic angle must be interesting. I suggest lots of wide angle lenses and music, maybe add a smoke machine. That should do it.

Completely agree. Two likely scenarios: Either Hollywood produces shows that match their own interests – thereby completely neglecting the fundamentals of business of understanding what your customers want. Second, with shows like this, they clearly demonstrate their views of their audience, which does not include much respect. The Oprah show on XM radio may try to sell itself as 'civilized', when in reality some of the shows on that station are no better than what Howard Stern produces. We're talking Howard Stern, expert in pandering to the most base of human instincts, and completely failing to provide any positive benefit from watching/listening to his show.
