Ricky Gervais to guest on NBC's 'The Office'

[Want to hear more from Ricky Gervais? You can catch him on "Piers Morgan Tonight" on Thursday, January 20 at 9 p.m. ET.]

He may not be asked back to the Golden Globes, but controversial British comic Ricky Gervais has already landed another U.S. TV gig: appearing alongside Steve Carell in "The Office."

New York magazine's Vulture reports that Gervais will appear on the January 27 episode of the hit NBC series as David Brent, the character he portrayed in the original, British version of "The Office," and upon whom Carell's Michael Scott is based.

"Ricky had wanted to do something [with the U.S. "Office"] and it felt like we shouldn't go the whole series without them connecting," show-runner Paul Lieberstein tells Vulture. "But we had some issues to work out, like how does David Brent live in the world of Michael Scott."

In the top-secret cameo, which was shot in September, Brent is seen interacting with Scott away from the Dunder-Mifflin offices.

"It's just a little nod to Steve and his final year," Lieberstein says of the moment. "It's a little more than 'if you blink, you'll miss it,' but if you don't set your TiVo right, you'll miss it."

You actually make it appear really easy together with your presentation but I in finding this topic to be really one thing that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely extensive for me. I'm taking a look ahead in your subsequent publish, I'll attempt to get the grasp of it!

@Ron So let me guess, the Golden Globes was your first exposure to him, and I'm guessing you've never listened to the podcasts, movies, stand-up, or any of his other work, and that's what you're basing your opinion on? Yep, he "never" says anything funny....just shhhh.

I think Rick is a sad excuse for an enterainer..... He never says anything funny and usually resorts to meanness. It's sad that america even considers him as anything special. Ricky..... go back to the land you came from....
