Raising the bar on 'Live to Dance'

In yet another reminder that there are virtually no rules to the competition on "Live to Dance," the ballet pair of White Tree Fine Art brought in a long red ribbon, which Ethan did acrobatic moves on in the middle and end of their routine.

This was like something out of Cirque du Soleil, and it brought down the house on Wednesday night's episode (the first night the show was up against "American Idol").

All was going well until Travis Payne gave them a red star. Despite his misgivings, Paula and Kimberly sent White Tree into the finals.

As for everyone else, they have to hope for the audience vote (and thank you, America, for voting in D'Angelo and Amanda last week, by the way).

I liked pint-size B-boy Jalen a lot, and one shouldn't count him out since he is Justin Bieber's back-up dancer (he even got a little Twitter assist from Biebs). He could give some of the "SYTYCD" B-boys a run for their money.

I also think that Lindy-hoppers Dax and Sarah did an extraordinary job, considering Dax's injury (which likely explains why they didn't do any lifts).

But I've gotta go with Twitch, the all-female-except-one troupe who dazzled all three of the judges equally. Their style is truly unique, and it would be a shame not to see them in the finals.

As for Du-Shaunt Stegall, his routines need some work, and the best I can say for Dance in Flight is that they brought back MC Skat Kat.
