Mark Wahlberg: Why I stopped smoking pot

Here's the deal on why Mark Wahlberg stopped smoking pot: He did it for his children.

Accepting the Indie Impact Award at the January 9 Palm Springs Film Festival, the star of "The Fighter" remarked that the trophy resembled a bong.

"But I don't use those anymore," he noted, according to Us Weekly. "I stopped smoking weed for my kids."

Thirty-nine-year-old Wahlberg, who has four children with wife Rhea Durham, added that it was one incident in particular that convinced him to give up the ganja.

"One day, we were driving and you could smell it from somewhere. My daughter asked what the smell was so I told her it was a skunk," the Boston native recalled. "Then she said, 'Sometimes Daddy smells like that!' to me and my wife. So I knew I had to quit."

Wahlberg said that he's since swapped his weekend weed habit with going to church.
