Shania Twain not comfortable singing anymoreWhen Shania Twain discovered two years ago that her husband, Robert Lange, was leaving her for her close friend, she felt like she had lost a piece of herself. “I really lost my sense of trust, compassion, honesty,” Twain told The Toronto Sun. “I have lost my ability to express myself and my ability to sing... for some reason, I'm not comfortable singing in front of people anymore.” Twain said she was feeling a huge amount of stress from her career before the split. “I felt the pressure to be better and better all the time. It just affected me. I was slowly losing my voice and slowly losing my confidence.” Twain now has a show on OWN called “Why Not?” that’s scheduled to debut in April. “The show will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," says a statement from the network. But it’s the people she’ll meet along the way that will inspire her, the 45-year-old songstress said. “I want to talk to people that have been through big disappointments, big emotional crises, deep life struggles, and I will learn something from that.”

I as a young girl see Shania as an inspiration. I don't think she ever should have stopped singing. My friend and I know all of her songs and always make music videos to them for fun. Shania is a strong, beautiful woman who has not been forgotten and has many ever lasting fans.

You definitely need to feel good to want to sing...I'm saddened that she has lost her voice and her way but it sounds like she's happy again...Music flows through you at the strangest of times...Someday she will sing again, however never at the level she was when she was at the top of her game...
She should sing her songs backwards. If you sing country music backwards, you sober up and your lover and your dog come back.
Shania, you could learn a lot from my life of disappointment. Come and visit me. We can heal each other.... ;o)
I would imagine it is extremely difficult for Shania to sing the "old" love songs that she and Mutt created together. The love, trust, and respect she felt for her ex-Mutt had to evaporate when he broke their wedding vows. Singing the old love songs without those positive emotions might feel hypocritical. I am happy that Shania has fallen in love again, and I hope that she will write and sing new love songs that she can dedicate to her new and faithful husband.
Wow, some of you folks are way to flipping harsh on even a celebrity. I believe some of you are taking the comment, "I can't sing, or find my voice" a bit to literal. Losing a man isn't going to make your voice go away, but a sadness that comes from that can definitely make you simply not want to sing. To find it hard to draw up the emotion that comes with singing, especially Country songs. A comeback, pretty easy if she can draw herself out of the funk and what seems to be a clear depression. Some say, suck it up your life isn't that hard, and to them I say, stop assuming that what you think is trivial is not important to another person. I think most celebs show us that money does not buy happiness, and they suffer sometimes more emotionally then even the rest of us do when struggling to find a 'happy place' to be.
Only you can give what you need! It takes time. Don't listen to the have nots.
Shania's career was going nowhere before she met Mutt..
He pushed her in a "edgy for Country" direction that was the right thing to do at the right time, and it made them both millions.
A comeback at 45? Good luck Shania, you're going to need it.

Shania forever remain in my heart as the best and the most wonderful woman singer all time. Although that I was worried for a long time became truth, keep your fingers crossed to Shania again compose and sing a new song. All the fans look forward to it. I believe that just compose and sing a new song can help Stania the way through the crisis and find mental balance.

She loved and raised her brothers and sisters; She loves and is raising her son; She loved and was faithful to her husband. Her husband's and his lovers' integrity is trash, not Shanias'. Cut the lady some slack and let her try to put her life and perhaps career, back on track. In either case, she's an amazing human being and a fabulous, country- singing legend.

As a novelist whose husband was unfaithful, I lost the ability to write for some years after. When someone you love that much for that long doesn't love you anymore, you doubt your understanding of reality. You no longer trust your own judgment. I felt like I was wandering in the desert for five years in all. It's crushing, but it does pass. My talent is right where I left it and I have three books sold recently, but it took a long time to recover my sense of self.
so thats why she's not making another album just yet. well, its understandable now that i read this article. too bad we don't have OWN on this part of the world as i would like to see her make her way back. talk about pressure. hope she comes back! i miss her. i can only get so much hearing from today's country stars. carrie underwood is a close one but she doesn't do me like shania twain's music....
Shaniaaaa you just need to find someone who makes you enjoy singing again, and someone who can and will sing with you; whenever you want. Your passion is there but your flame has dimmed. RJ wasn't singing for you, he helped you find your niche but your spirit always walked along side you. Does it still? Remember as a girl when you used to sing to the forest, the birds and animals sure remember. I remember the first time I heard you. I asked him 'Who is she?' He smiled and said 'Just wait you haven't heard the last of her.' I hope he was right Shaniaaa .......... I hope you find your voice again. Go back to the forest and let her rip, the elements will never criticize you.
she is probably not comfortable singing because she hasn't enjoyed chips in a while. I recommend at least several handfuls of chips each day, and I'm a doctor. Best practice: smash chips into your mouth and enjoy their flavor!

dee, I disagree. It looks like people are having the last laugh at Shania. Everyone said it was all Mutt Lange and now that seems to be true. She can't do anything without Mutt Lange and she proves that by some stupid comment how she can't perform anymore. People in the music world must be laughing at her because she can't have any success without Mutt Lange.
