'Jersey Shore's' record-setting premiereThree seasons in, and we’re definitely still watching “Jersey Shore.” Last night’s premiere of the MTV reality show drew 8.45 million viewers, making the start of season three MTV's most-watched series telecast ever. The premiere also delivered more young viewers – ages 12 to 34 – than any other broadcast or cable show this season, excluding sports programming. And compared to season two’s debut – which also set a record when it premiered last July with 5.3 million watching - the ratings for the third season’s opener were up by 63 percent in the 12-34 demo.

The more publicity they get, the more money they make, so when cnn writes a story and so many people respond to it, it's still making the jersey shore cast more money...So for all you commenting on how the people watching it are morons...well look who the bigger idiot is, since you are just contributing to their fame dumb@$$es! I hate to admit it...but I watch it. I think its funny and it IS actually stuff that does happen. The only difference is that this is being filmed for our amusement. I tend to view the characters on this show, as well as all those who now choose to emulate them, as second-rate citizens. They're really not capable of doing anything productive, so I'm not sure they should have the same rights as the rest of us. It frightens me to think that these people might actually vote. Who am I kidding? The only voting they're even aware of is Facebook polls. You can all say that "It's television," and "It's harmless entertainment," and for many people, it is! But you cannot look at the state of our country, the apathy of many teens and young adults, and the change that television programming has undergone in the last decade and say that our country is growing dumber and dumber each day.

I watched the premiere but I am not sure why this show is so amusing to so many people. I was annoyed by this SAMMI character . She is a rude, mean little girl and this DEANNA character is a drunk little girl who is not very pretty and is seting herself up for people to tell her so.I guess the prospect of money makes it easy for some to sell themselves no matter how they look to the outside world. I really am not sure if these kids know how ridiculous and trashy they look.No amount of money can buy respect.

It's obviously not an embarrassment since 8.45 million americans enjoy watching the show because it's what they prefer. I watch the show but I hate to see that kids age 12 are watching it. Is anyone else thinking that fame got to Sammie's head? She comes off as though she thinks she is better than anyone and that her $h^t doesn't stink. She is always lying in bed or depressed over Ronnie. Hope Jwow gives her a good a$$ kicking.

Thje thing that amazes me about Sammi is not just that she behaves like such a beast, but that for a woman who is only a 20-something, she's quite a wrinkled mess in the face. A little too much T going on in the whole GTL thing.
