Kirk Cameron: Dead birds aren't the end of the world

After thousands of birds mysteriously fell out of the sky in Arkansas on New Year's Eve, it was only natural that Anderson Cooper turned to an expert for an explanation. Enter Kirk Cameron.

The former "Growing Pains" star β€” a born-again Christian who has appeared in movies based on the end-of-days-themed "Left Behind" books β€” appeared on "Anderson Cooper 360" to discuss whether he thought the dead birds were a sign of the apocalypse.

"Well, I first think that they ought to call a veterinarian, not me. You know, I'm not the religious-conspiracy-theorist go-to guy, particularly," Cameron said. "But I think it's really kind of silly to try to equate birds falling out of the sky with some kind of an end-times theory."

Chalk it up to the public's fascination with doomsday predictions.

"People love to find codes and signs of future events and see if they can decipher them before anybody else," the 40-year-old actor told Cooper. "But birds falling from the sky? That has to do more with pagan mythology; the direction that the birds flew told some of the followers of some of those legends that the gods were either pleased or displeased with them."

Meanwhile, the father of six says he's displeased with the state of our country. "If America is a ship, it looks a lot like it's sinking β€” financially, morally, spiritually. It's frightening," he says.

But Cameron isn't throwing up his hands. "I decided to go on a journey and retrace the escape route of the Pilgrims," he told Cooper. "They left us clues to get us back to the real treasure of America and get the ship righted again."

Cameron will share that knowledge in "Monumental," a new documentary due out next fall.

Wow. What has this country come to? I am a strong Christian, but I'm not going to go judging people because of their beliefs and I would hope to get the same in return. If this country is going to get through the crisis that's really going on, fighting like this isn't going to help. Since when did birds falling from the sky start a war about religion? Our country is a free country (at least it used to be) and that means freedom of speech, as well as religion. But let's not turn to bashing each other back and forth. Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior, but I'm not going to bash someone with different beliefs. No one is perfect.

Kirk was so HOT as a teen and into his early twenties. WHAT HAPPENED??? I had a major crush on him, was even going to marry him, grin. Than we broke up when he decided to go straight and date girls. Oh well, I'm happy for him, he has had an offbeat life to say the least. Long as he's satisfied with it, that's all that counts.

Wait: he starts off pointing how absurd it is that "people love to find codes and signs of future events" where there aren't any, and then *without the slightest hint of irony* tells us that the people who do so are mistaken and maybe a little bit crazy *because they didn't find their codes and signs in the same place he does"?

"...birds falling from the sky? That has to do more with pagan mythology...' Cameron said. Sound like someone is either in denial or tired of his own shtick. Cameron is placing blame on the Pagans, when it is in the Old Testament in his bible that holds accounts of Rocks falling from the sky in the book of Joshua. Remember, the 10 plagues of Egypt Kirk – frogs falling from the sky, also gnats, flies, hail, locust? Own up to the rediculousness you believe in.

This is yet another example of CNN's move towards being a television version of the Enquirer. Could there really be any reason to have Kirk Cameron remark on this story other than sensationalism. Why not discuss the matter with an educated theologian or possibly a respected biologist? Shame on you CNN AND you Anderson Cooper. This is just ridiculous on so many levels. CNN is quickly falling to a level par with FOX news.

Great interview!!! Thank you Mr. Cameron for bringing sense to a world that is increasingly looking to their own understanding. The clear and loving instructions that God has given us in His Word are truth. Until 4 years ago, I thought I was a "good person" and I was okay with God. I was wrong. I had a very BIG problem – and a belief in Jesus is the ONLY way to fix that problem. "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into LIFE." ~Jesus

Please Lord, help all these very funny, some mocking, some very angry people seek the Truth that can only be found in You.

The dead birds were in more states than just two. This did not happen in Arkansas only. And it was not just the black birds either. Now I cant find anything else about it on the news.I wonder what is really going on here. Same with the dead fish. It was not just in Brazil and Arkansas. I guess I will stay tuned to you tube and see if people in other states are taping more dead birds and fish. I bet the media tells us nothing more about any of it. I wonder what the test results will be from the birds and fish. Some said no sign of any illness or toxins. I dont buy the fire works theory. Not when it happened in other states as well.

Regardless of what some people think most Christians are not nuts. I heard that same crazy talk when the oil spill happened in the Gulf of Mexico and the water turned red. If indeed such incidents are done by the hand of God then nothing we do will alter anything.

If there is no difference, and your Ecc. quote seems to bear that out, then when we die, that's it. There is no other existence to work towards and make sacrifices to. That leaves us with no other goal but to make this existence the best it can be. With free will we make our own choices and create our own rewards as well as a good deal of our own suffering. A deity is unnecessary.

Repent people, for truly the Lord cometh at an hour we know not. I say this out of scripture, not of myself. "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." Matthew 24;36-40. Mr Cameron should be well familiar with this verse, as he acted it out in Left Behind. Good movie, by the way. I also enjoyed Fireproof. No man knoweth the hour. I leave you with this scripture for all of you who critique or prevent people from searching God. "Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge; ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered." Luke 12;52.

I think the Pilgrims are a terrible influence to choose. Some of the myth of the Pilgrims – things that are not historically accurate, such as the way their one-time Thanksgiving played out – are nice and warm and fuzzy. But in general, we're talking about people who instigated anger against themselves by being rotten to others, fled to Holland, sent religious and political propaganda back to England, then fled to America to escape rather than standing up for what they believed. When they got here, they reveled in taking pot shots with their muskets to scare off the very natives who were trying to help them survive. That's in-between forcing their children to work, killing all mirth and happiness in their lives and disciplining everyone and everything with corporal punishment. They kept indentured servants (read: slaves).

Our nation inherited their judgmental xenophobia and overwrought, phony holiness. We owe them everything that is wrongheaded and divisive in this country, yet the ignorant continue to venerate them. The irony is, in their world, Kirk wouldn't be able to get a job as an actor. They'd have stoned him to death for it, or put him out in a garden to tend cows.

The one good thing that can be said about the Pilgrims is that they were for the most part literate. But that was just so they could read the Bible and their Bible-centric laws well enough to know why they were being tied to a log and whipped.

Seriously, we're listening to the opinion of Kirk Cameron? This guy's a funny robe away from drinking the Kool-Aid and being returned to the Mother Ship. If the dead bird's can't be the sign of the end of times, can they at least be the sign of the end of Kirk Cameron? If you're quoting scriptures, can you really call it "open dialogue"? Wouldn't "brain washing" be more appropriate?
Put simply, dead is dead, no bright lights, no golden gates, especially not for these birds. On the bright side, somewhere there's a car not getting pooped on right now.

This is definetely not the end of the world BUT the beginning of it, no context... The end of the times is is the air, in our dreams, at work, in the movies, etc.

Apocalyptic earthquakes (2010 had 10 times more earthquakes than any other year from the last century), weather manipulation (weather warfare), chemtrails in our skies, holograms (In Norways Dic 2009), etc.

Whos causing all this???? HAARP, The Blue Beam Project and the World New Order, google it or look up at youtube...

including birds and fish β€” Anything and everything that causes sinβ€”will go, but especially people.

Let's do some rehash about your god. Here's a link to the Examiner proclaiming that Jesus will return on May21st -2011.

    http://www.examiner.com/rationalism-in-national/save-the-date-jesus-returns-may-21-2011

There's a few of you religious folks who advocate that you do not know when the 'lord' will come back so what does this link (it's from one of your own kind – proclaiming it) tell you about your stability in the reality of this world?

Your faith and your 'prove it to me' that my God doesn't exist is your own fallacy. Quit asking others who do not believe your fairy tales to support you. Asking others to prove to you is wrong in simply that if one is ignorant will be forever ignorant and deny any such offered proof. In order to prove something that you believe you have to provide the proof to yourself. Otherwise all you are doing is well wishing for others to help you. And atheists will not help you to find your fairy tales.

It seems you nut pots all love to spell out the "end of times" to everyone to coerce fear so that you'll end up shutting people up/ silence them into your head games. Well it doesn't work. It's your fear. We don't care how afraid you are. You're just being a nut. Your quotes of the ole good passages are crap. Your prayers fall on deaf ears, they are all ridiculous.

What all of you need a good slap or several across the face. You believe yourself when you preach that it is good. Well we all have our opinions, and my personal opinion is telling me to shut you up. And that's why your garbage is inferior.

@Observer – I can see why you would think that God would never "destroy" mankind if you stop with that verse. Also, key is looking at the last few words of that scripture "as I have done" for more added meaning. If you read on to the next chapter Genesis 9:8-11 "Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: β€œI now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with youβ€”the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with youβ€”every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” God will not destroy the earth again...by flood.

I used to look at specific scripture then realized that I was missing a lot of detail by stopping. The information before and after provides an enormous amount of clarity, plus reviewing other books and chapters are important both Old and New Testament.

This is not a criticism but an elaboration.

To be quite frank, I think that Kirk handled it extremely well. I am a Christian, but when I saw that they had brought in another fellow Christian to try and explain the strange incident, I panicked. I honestly did think that Kirk was going to blame it all on the "Revelation" and "End-Times Craziness" that is going on right now, but he didn't. He was honest and he said that he doesn't agree with blaming everything bad that happens on the end of the world. I can only imagine what someone like John Hagee would have said. I much prefered Cameron's intake. Kudos to him πŸ™‚

Don't forget the bird deaths in sweden, could this be something caused by the ozone? these are areas where we are actually noticing these events, what about where people dont have any presence or dont care and they are witnessing similar events.

I used to laugh at people who said they were "born again" simply because it sounded funny and I didn't have an understanding of what it meant. More than likely, many of you know where that comes from but for anyone who isn't familiar, it comes from John 3:3-8. Nicodemus was asking Jesus about His relationship with God, when Jesus stated "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." Nicodemus was confused and asked, "How can someone be born when they are old? Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!". Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, β€˜You must be born again.' The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." Nicodemus was still confused, "How can this be?" garnering the following response from Jesus, "You are Israel’s teacher and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?"

Jesus may be sounding harsh but He was trying to explain that until one accepts the Son and the Father, much of what He was sharing wouldn't make much sense. We, as humans, can understand things that are in front of us. When it goes beyond that, if there is a spiritual issue and we are separate from God, it will probably appear foolish.

One who is born again accepts the gift of salvation through Jesus' sacrifice (John 3:16 -18), "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."

The reason why born again Christians (which includes myself) know they need a savior, "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God." John 3:19-21

Most born again Christians are not extremely verbal to others. They do share the gospel, not out of an air of superiority (since most know that they are sinners that are no better than anyone else, nor "cosiners", lol) but because they have been instructed to share the gospel by Jesus plus they love others and don't want others to suffer the separation from God when judgment day arrives. Christians are to treat "enemies" with love and compassion instead of the way we would normally treat others who we are at odds with. It would be selfish of a Christian not to share the gospel with others as much as watching someone trapped in a burning building or drowning in a lake and not doing anything to help them.

Then again, there are born again Christians and others that are still fighting with their sinful nature when it comes to treating others with love and kindness. When a non-Christian attacks God, their defenses go up and they feel the need to defend Him. This is where you see those Christians retaliating by calling names or other "non-Christian" gestures or comments. I know because I have been guilty of that. Just because someone becomes a Christian doesn't mean that they leave behind their old habits. Even though they are a "new creation" and their sins have been erased, it doesn't mean that they will act Christ-like.

Kirk Cameron was probably asked because of his name recognition and his ministries that he has started and assisted. I was familiar with Kirk when he was in Growing Pains but I rarely watched the show. For the last several years, when I have seen him speak about his relationship with the Lord, he has appeared kind and compassionate to others regardless of their beliefs. Yes, he appears passionate about his faith but I haven't seen him mistreat others. He seems like a decent person.

While I used to find calling one self "born again" as silly, I now understand what it means. There is a lot more scripture that supports the reason for being born again and why we need a savior. If someone doesn't want a savior, they should not feel coerced to. As someone who freely accepted the gift, I had to read, reread and become familiar with other religions as to understand why Christianity is the only way. This is not a criticism of those who follow other religions at all. I am saying that in studying the differences it made sense to me.

    • Actually...

Those who are Born Again are those who are annointed with holy spirit, and selected by the Father to be co-rulers with Christ in God's Kingdom. Since it's a decision made by God rather than by the individual, it follows that being born again is not a requirement for salvation.

Furthermore the scriptures say that the righteous shall inherit the earth, and receive the gift of everlasting life, and God intends to bring about "the end" to remove unrighteousness from the earth. But the earth itself will not be destroyed, as God has promised it will stand forever, not for nothing, but to be inhabited.

@Actually – You are speaking from a pov about predestination. I am speaking from a different perspective as that God is omniscient, where He knows what our decisions will be but allowing us to have free will to choose (as supported by scripture). Predestination (Calvinism) is a differing theology that conflicts with numerous scriptural support for those having their own will to come to the Lord. Otherwise, Jesus' sacrifice would have been unnecessary if God was directing our paths. And I am not saying that accepting the gift of salvation is anywhere associated with the concept of works. Jesus did all the work. Being "born again" is a result of salvation, not the reverse. As far as "co-rulers" with Christ, it says that we are co-heirs which means that we will share in the eternal glory while God rules heaven. Of course, Christ is fully God but we will not be ruling in heaven; we will enjoy the rewards though. And maybe I am misunderstanding you about the earth but in Rev 21:1-4 "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, β€œBehold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. β€œAnd God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” & 2 Peter 3:10-13 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." Now i wont really know until it happens but for the time being, I can only lean on the word itself.

@1jimmyhoffa – You aren't kidding, lol. I can be long winded.

I honestly don't think we should be looking at the pilgrims for any kind of moral guidance on how to get the "ship" in its right path. We live in a very complex world from that of the 17th/18th century. They escaped religious persecution in England but learned nothing from it. I would look more to the quakers, who have a foundation in that part of our history for their guidance if any. But not the pilgrims, and certainly not a so called born again christian.

I dont expect anyone to believe what I believe nor do I force anyone too. I have faith in that. See, what religion has done and I will agree is that they try to frighten you into believing. Its called Faith people, those who believe and those who dont should not knock anyones Faith. Don't preach, spread the word in whatever you believe, people will chose what they believe. I think its amazing how many people will bash for whatever is believed, everyone thinks they are right but in the end, no one leads a perfect life. There are more things to worry about then dead birds. Telling someone to that they are going to hell is not what the Bible tries to say. If you genuinely live your life and show what you believe, you will be more respected, thought they may not believe what you believe, then trying to tell them they are going to hell, or anything like that for what they believe.

The Bible mentions that the end time would make itself known through a variety of natural signs (earthquakes, floods, drought, fire, in addition to signs in the heavens) – though dying bird or fish are not mentioned, however, this can also be a sign of man's ruination of the Earth itself, since the natural environment can only endure so much abuse, especially through pollution and loss of habitat...

Why is Kirk Cameron interviewed for nonsense like this? Where is his banana man sidekick? I find it funny that Kirk went back to the pilgrims in order to find what this nation needs to get back on track... the pilgrims were probably the most religiously backward people of their time... and Kirk would have been whipped for not believing as they believed!!!

Don't worry crissy. Another story focussing on the trials and tribulations of the poor misunderstood gays will break, and it will be all about how straight people commit suicide because of mental health issues, but gays commit sucide because they are perfectly normal but persecuted. Or, another gay celbrity will have a child via a surrogate, and pretend not to notice it won't have the benfit of a mother. And the world will rejoice, and worship at the almighty temple of the glorious modern gay.

I agree!!!! What I find so amusing are atheists who spend their time and energy so passionately refuting something they claim doesn't exist. Now does that make any sense? What they believe or don't believe is their business, but it's too bad no one teaches them to respect other peoples beliefs. They probably act the way they do because they are content to believe humans somehow evolved from apes. But if that were true, wouldn't apes just be more people and not another species? Oh, I'm sorry, that would make too much sense.

No one is truly knowledgeable on God's written word; only He understands His true path, His final plans for us, and we are bound to leave our fates in His hands. No one should be arrogant enough to believe they know His true and ultimate plans for us, we must read and follow the Word with the faith that we only know what He allows us to and will show us all when He is ready.

"But birds falling from the sky? That has to do more with pagan mythology; the direction that the birds flew told some of the followers of some of those legends that the gods were either pleased or displeased with them."

For all the peddling of Christianity that Cameron does, he doesn't seem to know his Bible very well. I'm not even Christian, yet I know of the passage...

    Zephaniah 1:3
    3 β€œI will sweep away both man and beast;
I will sweep away the birds in the sky
and the fish in the seaβ€”
and the idols that cause the wicked to stumble.”
    β€œWhen I destroy all mankind
on the face of the earth,”
    declares the LORD, "

So unless he considers the Bible pagan, he is mistaken. That's why a lot of religious nutjobs think that this is the end of the world, both the birds and fish are showing up dead.

Personally I'm more inclined to believe it has something to do with the drifting magnetic poles, considering both birds and fish utilize the magnetic field for navigation (magnetoreception).

What I find amusing is the fact that this article was about birds dying in midair and falling out of the sky, but all the comments seem to be religion based just because a religious person was interviewed about it. Let christians be christians and nonbelievers be nonbelievers....none of this matters when trying to find out why they birds died in the first place. It was probably some college kids, in over their heads, creating some sort of device, like an EMP that was too much for the birds to handle. Autopsies said they died of "external blows" and "internal bleeding". Man caused this. Not God. Lets stay on the topic at hand....dead birds...not religion.

Actually dead birds are an omen. They do not however reflect the impending doom of the apocolypse. Actually the only true sign of the apocolypse is the utter and complete rejection of Christ, Firstly because he isn't the embodiment of the embellishment of a man named Jesus, Secondly because the bible has tainted the simple and obvious character of God with false and human desires, And lastly because people will always deny obvious logic whenever it neither gives them advantage or reinforces them in the beleif that they are right. Looks to me like the apocolypse is something that is not just earned. Not something that is an abritarily designated as vengence for the rejection of virtue and divine understanding or a final solution to the evil desires of worldly men. It may actually be all in one. Flipping you people the bird is just a drop in the bucket.

Just because you've been in movies or tv shows or have multiplatinum albums doesn't mean you know diddly squat more about anything (other than the entertainment industry) than any other average joe. You know, CNN actually did some right, by my taste, in bringing Kirk Cameron on to talk about the end-times... Of course, assuming they were set on talking about the end-times anyway. Cameron's been working with Ray Comfort for some time now (going on five years, I'm guessing), and the focus on their form of evangelism is a focus on God's law, and the eternal impacts of salvation. True, Cameron isn't a studied expert on Christian eschatology but rather a well-known student of the same, so perhaps there's still something to be desired here.

Cameron said it himself: "I first think that they ought to call a veterinarian, not me." If they were looking for an expert on what causes birds to fall out of the sky, he admits he's no expert. Moreover, his response to the main question of whether or not this is a sign of the end-times is pretty much the least radical thing said on cable news on this date. "I think it's really kind of silly to try to equate birds falling out of the sky with some kind of an end-times theory." To summarize, "I'm no expert on any of this, but, seriously, people. CHILL."

So, as no expert on the subject of solar mortality, relax: It's not like the sun's going to burn out tomorrow.

Yeshua accepted worship and forgave sins. He couldn't have done that us less He was, indeed, God in the flesh.

Something needs to be said to both sides here. It is a benefit to us all to have faith in something. Whether you buy into one of the top 20 religions, or have a religion or belief custom made for you alone, it all leads to the same thing…personal growth and comfort for each of us while we’re here on Earth. What works for one, may not work for another, but it does not mean that it is wrong. None of us know what will be or not be after death, and for some of us, this is scary and unsettling, so we need to find something to comfort us, to give us a since of hope and security, and that is faith. Have faith in your religion and lean into as often as you need, but please don’t try to sale your religion or belief as the β€œfix all” for mankind…history shows that all that does is lead to war.

It's obvious from the tenor of these posts that all people are basically good, not sinners. We're not the ones filled with hate and contempt–it's all God's fault. Obviously. Better yet, maybe there is no God. As the Nobel laureate theorized, perhaps aliens left a germ on our planet that eventually became you and me. Right. And you think Kirk is a crack pot? Why, because he believes the evidences of Christianity? Oh, I almost forgot. His beliefs make him a zealot, but not you? Brilliant. I could care less why they asked Kirk Cameron to comment on this story. None of you should care because he is not the authority on Christianity or the end of days. However, I do have a few comments on all the Christians on here who are BOLDLY stating that non-believers are awful, that Christians are great, and we all need to repent or burn in Hell. First, I know several "non-believers" who are wonderful, compassionate, caring people. They are good to the bone, but do not believe in the Christian God. Secondly, Christians have been the cause of more murders than non-believers (ie; Salem Witch trials, the Inquisitions, abortion clinic bombings, etc.), and wars have been declared by Christians due to people not having the same beliefs. And finally, I believe I am a good person, I have faith that I am living my life as a good person and as such, I am certain that if there is a Christian God and he doesn't look past the fact that I lived my life as a good person but was unsure of his existence and he punishes me for it, then I will know that I am better than he is because I wouldn't judge someone for not believing in me. If the Christian God is what all of you Christians claim he is, then everyone will be in Heaven. Even us non-believers.

You are obviously a critical thinker. However, based on its contexual use, I suspect the phrase you're looking for is, "I could NOT care less" or "I couldn't care less." The implication, of course, is that you care more about anything and everything when compared to Kirk's comments. I personally find this hard to believe, based on the length of your reply. Ironically, though mistakenly used, I would have to agree that you could care less.

If you look at the definition of God, you can see that he is defined as the "originator and ruler of the universe". Why does the universe need an originator - a creator? Because, according to religious logic, the universe cannot exist unless it has a creator. A believer will say, "nothing can exist unless it is created." However, that statement immediately constructs a contradiction, because we must then wonder who created God. For a believer the answer to that is simple - "God is the one thing that does not need a creator. God is timeless and has always existed." How can it be that the everything MUST have a creator, while God must NOT? The contradiction in the definition of God is palpable.

For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen unitl the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at th coming of the Son of Man." NIV

The secret to our universe is NOT an emotionally-childish male-gendered deity with a narcissistic desire to subjugate human souls. Our realm of knowledge is directly relative to the technology we have at hand, this has been consistent throughout history and pre-history. Today's truth is yesterday's blasphemy. Belief systems themselves have changed and evolved as the realm of knowledge has increased due to technology. I fear that if there WAS any "apocalypse", it would not come from the hands of a deity's displeasure, but from the hands of human beings with fundamental, irrational, archaic beliefs that are "hell-bent" on a self-fulfilling prophecy. I fear fundamental religious groups for this reason...it's happened before, now the technology exists to allow it to happen on a FAR greater scale.

Remember they found dead fish as well. This is my personal feelings that the Lord is trying to tell us something, but he has his own way of doing things. Everyone these days has done from bad to worse and it can not go on like that for ever, although some may think that. Getting real fed up with your typical mind that believes being christian or hearing the word "christian" is automatically synonymous with the definition of "perfect" and "can say no wrong." Face it, no matter how christian one is or how perfect you think they are, youre in dire need of being educated. No matter what path you take to achieve your goal, no matter how close you are to what you dub as GOD or no matter how much you don't believe in anything at all, your tongue, your differences, beliefs and ways of life in general will always find a way to upset, offend or annoy at least one person in the world – it's how humans are. So if an atheist were to say "hey, those dead birds were from a can of palmolive exploding and nothing more," all would automatically would start bashing and ridicule the atheist by wanting and thinking something more highly educated or scientific of them. If someone who believes in scientology said "i love my mothers casserole" all would expect something "stranger" to come from him or her because their belief is synonymous with being too "far out." Point being, stop being so "blown away" and ignorant when someone doesnt live up to what you believe on HOW they should be or HOW they should say something. For we are ALL fighting the same battles of life, and our imperfections that rests in all of us shall always be emitted everyday whether we like it or not. This isnt the land of angels and perfect harmony, this is the land of humans, and we are all thrown on it and we are ALL trying to figure out what the hell to make of it. Join us, you might be better off accepting it rather than sitting back pointing the finger and labeling people. Such simple minds!!

That, and the so-called missionaries spreading the word of God are some of the most unwavering, stubborn and blindly obtuse people in existence. The only thing Christianity preaches is lack of understanding, and guilt for everything.

First off, Kirk Cameron is not out of work. He is much in work and the best work anyone can ever dream of having. Secondly, Kirk decided to drop out of the Hollywood scene, not because they didn't need him anymore, but because he himself decided to leave. As a matter of fact, he left right at his prime of his career. Secondly, Kirk would be one of the go-to people regarding questions about the end-times. He is very well versed and knowledgeable with the Scriptures. Besides, he did state that they should've gone to a vet for answers on the dead birds, rather than go to him to see if there's a link between the dead birds and the end-times, which by the way is very ridiculous and biblically insulting to have linked the two.

To Kirk Cameron: May God continue to bless you in your ministry of reaching the lost!

@Bold George (to an earlier post)

Faith is belief in the ABSENCE of evidence. Do you have faith in gravity? Or what about faith in the sun rising every morning? I would guess that no. No one has faith in something that is real and been proven to exist and happen. Through Science, we know that gravity is real (we are experiencing it right now) we also know the Sun has another few billion years of life left. The same goes with Evolution and the Big Bang. We have evidence that forms our truths around nature, especially with someone like Evolution. There is no faith involved when you have the facts.

The same cannot be said with belief. You believe because you don't have the facts. There is an absense of evidence.

I believe more in they were deliberately killed. I lived in ark and on news 0105 showed other blacks birds perked on trees and would not moved, sickly. Black birds are very intelligent birds and adapt well in our society and for some reason (new to this state)they are being kiLled in groves.

For all you people who claim the rapture isnt meantioned you sure lack knowledge. I Thess. 4:17 the phrase "caught up" is translated rapture in the latin vulgate. Rapture is latin therefore isnt in the original wording but the translation of it is rapture and the thought and idea is there. You also say Trinity isnt in there but even Jesus refers to three: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Hummm three? WAIT Trinity means three! WOW what a revelation. As far as you people who say read chapter by chapter and verse by verse, you say Mat. Ch.24. Come on! You lack the basic of eastern culture and translation. To say Mat. 24 is all chronological is FALSE interpretation! Chronological order is a western civilazation thing. Eastern culture doesnt put things in order like that. They werent concerned with the order in which things happened but rather that these events would happen. Learn about the cultures before you spout off about things you dont understand. Not a Kirk Cameron fan but I agree with him here. Jesus is coming soon. Dont find Him (He's not lost or hiding) get to know Him. You are the ones hiding and lost from Him.

actually it is a sign of the end times- humans are not intelligent enough to realize that God controls all energy/mind/matter at will. Humans have been for too long in a world without Deity overcontrol- thousands of years w/o this causes spiritual blindness....and ohhh yeah BTW intelligence is not related to accurate spelling, spelling is a function of other facets including material memory which is UNRELATED to intelligence- I'm dyslexic and misspell frequently but have one of the highest IQ's ever tested- forget linear logic for a second and realize that Deity created the universe with specific design and intention...and can control all realities (even birds and fish) when it's deems necessary.

@Steve- you a re a victim of a common false belief in absolute free will- God can and does exercise mind control but only when necessary- the 'free will' you have iis not absolute but is 'limited free will' – and this is why people like you fail to understand the truth of Prophecy. You are becoming alone as a minority of non-believers.

      January 6, 2011 at 11:42 am | Report abuse |
    • Steve

      So its not really "FREE"....

And have you experienced this "mind control"? Do you have any scientific evidence to this "mind control"?

Do you really believe there is an invisible being that has unlimited power and watches us and allows us to kill each other but he "loves" us?

The bible says god created the universe and earth about 6000 years ago but science can prove that the earliest dinosaurs roamed the earth 230 million years ago. Where is that in your bible? It's not in there because the men who wrote it did not know about dinosaurs. And don't you think if the bible was truly inspired by the word of god, he would have mentioned this things?

But let's just ignore the facts and go with what we were brainwashed to believe as children.

Think about this; Do you think Moses really parted the sea? Really? Do you really believe that? Has anyone ever done anything even remotely like that since?

Use your brain for something other than repeating what you were trained to believe, look at the scientific facts and think logically and rationally for once in your life and you will see that religion was created to control people. To teach people morals. And to instill fear in them for not obeying laws. To comfort people. And it has worked for thousands of years.

But you don't ignore the facts. Don't bury your head in the sand.

THOUSANDS of years, waht natural disasters a new phenomanon?, mass wildlife deaths happen often, its called nature moron. Hatred among people, crime – are you seriously freaking saying these are SIGNS of anything. Literally everything example you cite has been occuring since humans evolved from apes, but I guess you dont believe in evolution (despite undeniable evidence that evolution is 100% fact that cannot be denied by anyone with a functioning brain)

Why? Because through Him is the only way you can get to heaven after this life. All the others just offer advice on how to live a decent life now. Only Christ spoke with authority and sureness that He was God and through Him is the ONLY way to the Father and His Kingdom. Not even Muhammed has stated anything close to this, much less Budda, Ghandhi, L Ron Hubbard, etc., etc., etc.

Are you serious? He is the one true God "because he spoke with authority.....etc"...that's your best argument?
Adolf Hitler spoke with authority, so did Ted Bundy, Saddam Hussein, and COUNTLESS others, including many that referred to themselves as religous leaders.
I am so tired of seeing people profess that they are absolutely correct in their opinion, so therefore everyone else is wrong. You are by far the worst offender I have seen.
I am a skeptic of all religions, I do not believe that any "God" created everything around us......but I am willing to accept the belief of those that disagree. I have read much of the bible, I have been to many religous sermons (of more than one faith), and I have also read and studied many scientific theories about how life began. I personally tend to believe the scientists – they make more sense to me. But I am not going to run around telling everyone that I am certain that I am correct, and therefore everyone else is wrong....that is an ignorant approach. The truth, and deep down you know this is true, is that NONE of us know for sure. It's OK to have a strong faith – but STOP telling everyone else they are wrong – because you do not know....and if you say otherwise, you are nothing more than a stubborn liar.

You know how some people answer a question with a question? Let me do a different take on that. I'll respond to your answers with more questions:

      You wrote:
"Adolf Hitler spoke with authority, so did Ted Bundy, Saddam Hussein, and COUNTLESS others, including many that referred to themselves as religious leaders." (all of these men were obviously sadists and glorified themselves)
      My reply to this is:
How can you compare what these men said and did to what Jesus said and did? What were their missions/goals (and we know what they were) and what was Jesus' mission & goal? Which one killed and which one healed? The people you mentioned attacked innocent bodies. Jesus attacked guilty souls, but offered them a way out as well.

You wrote: "I personally tend to believe the scientists – they make more sense TO ME."
My response to this is (and sorry to have capitalized your two last words, but that's key here):
Why does God have to meet YOUR standards on belief? Who or where would you want to base your eternal resting place on? With the scientists whom are not even quite sure about our existence, or base it on a "mysterious" book that was written millenias ago and has lasted through ages (and will continue to last) to reach all of humanity, and which by the way if you have faith in it, you WILL understand its contents and message?

      Just a note:
Yes, there's a lot of "truths" out there, depending on who you talk to. I'm not one to believe that all roads lead to the same capital. There's an absolute truth, only ONE truth that is not subject to any man’s interpretations or whims, on which we can base our eternity. You will not understand the Bible unless you are willing to understand it. To me, everything boils down to this, everything you can believe in (aliens, horoscopes, evolution, etc.), you don't need to be accountable to. You don't need to give account to any of these things you would believe in. But, once you realize that if you believe in God, that there is a Creator of all this, and He made you purposely, it's now obvious that you have to give an account of your life to Him. You see, believing in evolution doesn't make you matter anymore, doesn't make you care what you do with your life. It doesn't matter whether you give a great deal of money to a needy orphanage or kill someone's mother just for the fun of it. It wouldn't matter because in the end, there's no purpose to life as we know it, we will all end up the same way, good and bad. Now, put God in the middle of things and wallah! We're accountable now!

In the Bible, you will clearly read that it says in Luke chapter 11, verses 9,10: β€œSo I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Please read 1st Corinthians chapter 2, verse 13,14 because I can't be any clearer than this:
"This is what we speak, not in words taught to us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are to be discerned only through the Spirit."

Ignorance (in the good sense of the word) is no excuse. Let me ask a question? Does anyone know all the laws written and passed in the entire U.S.? Say you go to another state that's not your home state and you are stopped by a police officer right after crossing a street and he says to you, "Sir/Madam, Im going to have to give you a fine because you just broke such and such law." And you answer, "Well, I didn't know about this law, how could I have known about it?" Believe me, ignorance will not save you from that imminent fine, only the officer's mercy will. Someone here posted a comment that 'there is no tangible evidence that God exists'. Well, there's tangible evidence that he or she is breathing and moving about. There's tangible evidence everywhere you look, as far as the eye can see, everything you touch is tangible evidence. Isn't that what 'tangible' means? perceiving things with the senses, especially the senses of seeing and touching. Go ahead and look around and feel anything...I'm sure you'll find plenty of tangible evidence that God exists. And you ask how can anyone know? That's where faith steps in. You have the option, the freedom of wanting to know and now wanting to know. That's why the word 'believe' even exists. Either you do or you don't. Some say they need "proof" to believe and some others aren't too concerened about "proof" in order to believe. Besides, "proof" is a subjective word. I really think that when people ask for proof, they are really asking, "Does believing in this or that fit into my lifestyle or does it satisfy MY needs, MY wants and MY desires in life or does believing in this will make me have to change my lifestyle, because I might not want to change my ways?"

Worst case is the world is completely natural and humans slowly differentiated from lower animals over hundreds of thousands of years; if you believe in God then don't worry about it. None of this silly crap about 'how old is the world' and 'is the world flat or round' is in any way the POINT of the Bible. If God's real he'll come for your soul even if the world's flat or if you are a kind of ape with little fingers on your feet. Have as much faith as a grain of mustard seed, and don't despair.

Julie was Kirk's on screen 1st true love, in a "Family" television series. Yes, there was a time when people who did things that were not appropriate, could not or would not be accepted for "Family" television. Julie was fired for her own doing; not because of Kirk. As for the actual reason we are commenting, Kirk's popularity is what put him in your path to condemn. He is known for the Left Behind series, movies. His work with other Christian works; like Fire Proof & his charities for disabled children. If they would have called a preacher, 90% of you would not have a clue as to who the preacher was. For those of you who do not believe in God; well, that is your choice. God gave us all the same choice's in life. Just remember this; God is not a religion. He never has been & He never will be. Religion's come & go; but God is everlasting. God is real. I know this; not because someone told me to believe, but because of what He has shown me, what He has done for me, & because I choose to see Him, as He is.

@faith christianity is the oldest religion? Wow...where did you learn that?? Hinduism is over 5,000 years old and still going strong while Christianity is a mere 2,000. Do the math. If you can't that's about a 3,000 year difference! It bothers me how people can be so ignorant and stick to their ignorant views no matter if they are dead wrong. False gods indeed. I'm tired about hearing how Jesus or the Virgin Mary appeared on your shovel or in the shape of your chicken finger! Why not try understanding religions before you preach about something you know nothing about? I guess it would be too hard so it's easier to be ignorant. If the world was truly ending it would be because of the ignorance of everything and everyone by some of the so called "chosen people"

Wow, you're kind of stupid - Judaism predates Christianity by thousands of years, to say nothing of the Greeks, the Sumerians. Try learning before you speak publicly, you'll be less embarrassing to your teachers.

      @Urkel,
Wow, you're kind of condescending. It's always disappointing to me when I see educated people bashing those with less mental agility. A playful comment is one thing, but telling someone that they're "stupid" is just unkind. And it's often indicative of insecurity. Hopefully that is not the case with you.
You are correct that Judaism predates Christianity since the Jews lived long before the birth of Jesus Christ. However, the first religion was a believe in a single God who ruled over His creation from heaven (a theocracy). See below:

      Theocracy definition

a word first used by Josephus to denote that the Jews were under the direct government of God himself. The nation was in all things subject to the will of their invisible King. All the people were the servants of Jehovah, who ruled over their public and private affairs, communicating to them his will through the medium of the prophets. They were the subjects of a heavenly, not of an earthly, king. They were Jehovah's own subjects, ruled directly by him (comp. 1 Sam. 8:6-9).
      Ref. Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary

And to more gently correct @Faith, while you are correct that there is only one true God, He is not one with Jesus (or the holy spirit, for that matter). The believe in triadic gods (3) did not originate with true teachings. They came from ancient Babylonian religion. And if you reference your Bible you will see multiple verse that clearly show that God and Jesus are two separate beings (e.g., Matthew 24:36, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Or Mark 10:17-18, "As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him, β€˜Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?’ And Jesus said to him, β€˜Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.’" Or consider when Jesus prayed, who was praying to, himself? Think about it.). When Jesus said the Father and I are one, he was referring to being one in purpose, not one in existence. Nowhere in the Bible is it recorded that Jesus ever said he was the one true God, but he did call God his father. And we all know that we are not the same person as our own fathers. We may be like our fathers, but we are two distinct individuals.

Then what else can you live on if not by faith alone? Let me remind you that faith is what moves you to do anything, to live how you want to live and to end up how you want to end up...faith is everything. Besides, anyone that says they have no faith is either kidding themselves or is about to jump off a bridge (hopefully not). Some have faith in God/Jesus, others have faith in themselves, others have faith in evolution and the big-bang theory (that we came out of nothing–hahaha), and others have faith in science, in tangible evidence. All in all, it's faith that moves us to do anything and to go anywhere. I do have to add that it's faith that either saves you or gets you into trouble...depends which one you have.

Though I respect your respect for others, I am concerned that you do not know what you believe in at this stage in your life. I don't blame you though. I probably blame the foundation (or lack there of) you grew up with. This I can tell you, that unless you acknowledge that you have sinned against God, that you have gone against His holiness and His will for your life (btw, I'm not judging you, I've been there myself), you will not be able to accept that you need to be saved. And if you don't see the need for salvation, you will not enter into Heaven. Saved from what you might ask? From God's judgement and wrath upon you for your unbelief. And the only way you can be saved is through the blood of Christ, who died for you. He has replaced you on the cross. He has been judged instead of you and He was killed in your stead. All you have to do are two things: Believe and follow.

Bold George said: "Nobody is pushing anything on anyone....As a christian, I am given the option, the freedom to believe in God, Jesus Christ, etc.."

Then, later Bold George said: "This I can tell you, that unless you acknowledge that you have sinned against God, that you have gone against His holiness and His will for your life (btw, I'm not judging you, I've been there myself), you will not be able to accept that you need to be saved. Sounds a little hypocritical to me.... "I'm not pushing anything on you, you can believe whatever you want, but if you don't choose what I believe in, well, enjoy hell buddy because that's where you're going."

Well, you can feel safe that I won't be causing you any bodily harm because you don't have my same beliefs. And I reiterate the fact that we live in a great country where you can believe in anything you want to, just as long as you don't physically force anyone to do so. That's what I meant. You can preach the gospel here (and in many other countries where they exercise the freedom of speech and religion), just not physically force anyone to believe in it. There's nothing hypocirtical about anything I wrote, unless you personally want it to be for debating purposes.

      @michele goodloe,
I agree with the repect and dignity part of what you're saying, but the fact is that people's beliefs can drive public policy and the Kirk Camerons of the world, with their crockoduck and banana logic, want to push science out of the science class when our country needs more science and math education not less.

      @Bold George,
So... I have sinned against the same God that created a situtation in which I need to be saved and provided no way for me to save myself? Is that correct?

      January 6, 2011 at 12:26 pm | Report abuse |
    • Bold George

Correct! There is no way anyone can save themselves other than choosing to be saved by God's grace. And although it has been changed to sound complicated, salvation has always been a simple concept to grasp. I can tell you about salvation in just two sentences. Man and woman cannot and will not meet God's standard of holiness, not our own standards, but His standard of holiness (by the way, God's standard for holiness was given to us....the Ten Commandments). So, He had to come to die for our sins, in order to make us righteous through Him...never through our own efforts. Still complicated?

      January 6, 2011 at 1:40 pm | Report abuse |
    • Bold George

By the way, God didn't nor does he create any situation that imperils us. It is of our own choosing. It is us, man & woman that gets us into trouble. And obviously, God gets us out or works with us through our troubles in order to perfect us. Blaming God for all the evils of the world (or even some of them) is a typical nagging outcome when we don't want to face our own sins and wrong decision-making.

It's like getting left back from the tenth grade and then saying, "Why did they have to create education and schools, where now I have to compete in life, get good grades or else I'll be left back...not fair?" or being fired from a job and then saying, "Why did they create work, where now I have to get a job and compete in life in order for me to pay for food, shelter and clothing (and luxuries), and possibly get fired if I'm not competetive enough?"

Let's stop nagging and blaming God for all theills of the world (oreven some of them) and start making righteous decisions, starting with, "Let me give my life over to God because I cannot makeiton my own."

      @George
So if you believe George's logic...that we all create our own peril.......Stillborn children created their own death because of something they did in the womb, people that die in natural disasters, such as tornadoes, floods, or tsunami's were doomed by their terrible decision to live someplace that might have a natural disaster, and innocent people that are murdered (for example: the 911 victims) should have known better than to go to work in a building that some psychopath was going to slam a plane into..... I could go on and on, but it seems pointless.
Keep preaching, George.....your words will ring with the ignorant and gullible, but they will fall short with the rest of us.

"Blaming God for all the evils of the world (or even some of them) is a typical nagging outcome when we don't want to face our own sins and wrong decision-making." And yet, "There is no way anyone can save themselves..."

"Let's stop nagging and blaming God..." And yet, "Let me give my life over to God because I cannot makeiton my own."

You see the problem? If I can't do it on my own then how can I be responsible for not doing it?
If God is the only possible way to salvation, then wouldn't He be responsible for it?

By the way, this line of reasoning is quite amusing: "If God is the only possible way to salvation, then wouldn't He be responsible for it?"

So, according to this reasoning", It would be correct to lay responsibility on a fire-fighter who is on his way to rescue you from the fire you yourself caused by being irresponsible and leaving candles lit in the basement of your home while you slept upstairs?

Regarding natural disasters and catastrophes like the 911 incident, natural disasters are natural disasters. Remember, we live on earth, not in heaven. Besides, last time I heard, it was man that didn't handle a certain crisis (hint-hint–Hurricane Katrina) the way they were suppose to...and tragic events like 911, world wars, hunger, and all crimes are still man's responsibility. If a serial killer killed 5 innocent kids, it is still a man-made choice, though there are certainly outcomes and consequences, and consequently victims to man's decisions. Why blame God for Man's corruption, whether they be at a goverment level, or patriarchy level or even a familial level....man makes a choice and there will be consequences. God doesn't make decisions for us. He didn't create robots, he created humans that are able to make choices, choices to love, to hate, to heal, to kill and to do whatever choice we want to make.

By the way, on 911, though a lot of people perished, a whole lot of people got saved as well....and though it was a very sad day for our country, some of them did thank God.

He doesn’t? How did you find that out? Since it is not possible to prove or disprove the existence of God maybe you meant that you’re agnostic (literally β€œnot knowing” – if God exists)?

Every person on the earth puts their faith in something. You, my friend, have chosen to put your faith into a presupposition that there is NO God; that doesn’t mean it is truth. A Christian has chosen to put their faith into the presupposition that God DOES exist. The fact that this is their belief doesn’t somehow make it truth either.

The very nature of truth is that it is FACT and NOT relative. Truth is not flexible; it cannot become whatever you want it to be. It simply IS. Your friend can tell you they just got a new car, and you can disbelieve them all you want, but that doesn't change the facts. They either DID or did NOT get a new car. Your neighbor can say, β€œMan, I can’t believe how hot it is out here!” and you can look at the thermometer and think, β€œThis guy’s whacked, it’s 26 degrees out!” Truth is truth; your job isn’t to decide what truth is, it’s to decide if you want to choose to believe it.

No one knows the day or the hour when the Lord will return. But one thing is for sure we will all confess Jesus as Lord one day. I thank God that he has shown me his love. For while we were still sinners Christ died for us. It does not matter if you believe it or not. It is still TRUTH! God love us all that is why He sent his Son and that is why He has not wrapped this thing up yet He is giving us all time to come to that truth which is Jesus Christ.

@aWitchintheWoods, your deity, the one whom you serve through your lack of faith in a High Power, does not rear his ugly head to make a public showing, except through the cynical counter-truths and actions of his progeny–like you. Look around, honey, you live in the woods! You think that tree made itself? You think it developed the complex process of photosynthesis on its own? You think it was by chance that we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide, and the trees take in carbon dioxide and give off oxygen (as do the algae in the oceans)? And so far we are just considering trees; there's a whole world of wonders beyond the woods that testify to the greatness of God in their beauty and design. The only thing that needs to evolve is your depth of reasoning and powers of perception. You might want to make that your next high priority project.

"Christians finally standing up in defense of our Lord" Because He's just a little baby, and needs a whole lot of granny ladies and soccer moms to change His diaper? I was under the impression that Christians called on God to help and uplift them, not the other way around.

Keeper, that's a pretty feeble 'straw man' argument. Who exactly is it that thinks each tree 'made itself,' inventing the process of photosynthesis on its own? Nobody says that, it's a stupid argument, and either you are dumb or purposely telling a lie about what people believe. Also, it was very "Christian" of you to call aWitch a devil worshiper based on her name (based on yours I'd say you are a paranoid schizophrenic). Why don't you try breathing carbon monoxide?

@Simon, please allow me to apologize for those "Christians" who insulted you. They were wrong for saying unkind things to you and your friends. Jesus was kind to all he spoke to (except the religious leaders in his day because they were teaching false doctrines to the people). Anyone who represents Jesus Christ should also emulate his manner of communication. So please don't hold it against God or Jesus that imperfect people were rude to you in the past.

@Buster, I can see that my attempt at wit was completely lost on you. No problem, let me explain.

You're right, who does believe all that other than everybody you supports the idea of evolution over creation? I wasn't attempting to "lie" about what someone may or may not believe, I was trying to make the point that the complexities around us testify to an intelligent designer, and that they did not likely come into being through any "big bang" process or from frog excrement drying in the sun (that's another attempt at humor) some 10,000,000,000... years ago. Further, I was noting the uncanny intrinsic harmony between humans and their environment. Just happened? Not likely.

As for the self-proclaimed "witch" that you feel I wrongly accused, perhaps my reaction to her post was a little harsh but the word "witch" does conjure up (no pun intended) a certain image in most people's mind. Further, she makes a pretty strong point that she is not a big fan of God's. Perhaps you missed that in her post. So tell me, Buster, if a self-proclaimed witch is not a fan of God's who do they worship? I also noticed that she didn't correct me. Did she ask you to?

As for your generous offer of carbon monoxide, I think I'll pass.

He was there when the world was created, nothing was created without Him. He was the Word, and the Word became Flesh! Yes God became man for our sake and He gave His life for our salvation, if we choose Him that is. Jesus is called Lord and God is called Lord, they are one and with the Holy Spirit.

Clarification – I meant Amen to Wnydle's reply. It is very serious to state that a person has no interest in a relationship with God. Imagine dying and then not having another moment to change your statement. The fact that a person doesn't believe will not change the fact that we will take our last breath here and our next breath somewhere. You cannot kill us. We will live forever in one place or the other, either separated from God because of our own statements or disinterest in having his Son Jesus as our Lord and Savior or we will be with Him forever. Anyone who doesn't believe, how about asking Jesus to reveal Himself to you. He is so great and gracious that he understands the human condition and I do believe He will make Himself known to you . When I asked He certainly has made Himself known to me and it has been over 30 years now. Ask and the answer will be given to you – but the request must come from you. Don't take the chance of being wrong. Eternity is a very long time. Again, you can't kill us, we were created to live forever. You make the choice.

one-third of all things living in the sea died, and one-third of all the ships on the sea were destroyed. (Revelation 8:9)

Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse. And everything in the sea died. Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs, and they became blood. (Revelation 16:3-4)

And in fact, if you fly away, you are meeting up with the anti-christ, a real smooth talker. Don't be fooled. It's all in the Bible. of course the word rapture is not in the bible, but it does speak about a rapture,

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

there is plenty of bible verses that speak of this "rapture", you just gotta read the bible.

Gloria-Why is it that something so reputedly divine constantly requires translation and interpretation? You'd think the creator of the universe could just make it clear and coherent for everyone. Because without constant interpretation and apologetics people start to realize that this "g*d" started out as the perpetrator of all kinds of horrors. Then, mysteriously, in the NT, we're encouraged to forget all of that. Both OT and NT stories are interpreted for a desired outcome ad-hoc. When it's convenient, they're parables. When it's convenient and inspires fear, they're literal. When someone applies reason to them, they're back to parables again. Darned malleable stuff.

The fracking has released poisonous gases into water supplies that are killing the most sensitive of fish (100,000 fish (primarily drum) in Roseville, AR) and birds (5,000 primarily red-winged blackbirds Beebe, AR). A lot of the other media attention about a few hundred birds killed by farmers here and there is mostly propaganda to hide what is going on in Arkansas. Watch for other species to experience mass kills in Arkansas or neighboring states. Fracking is releasing carcinogens (among other things) into our waterways. My guess is you've never even cracked open "Art of War" (Cracked open is an older reference that those of us who read books use). But hey what do I know know, I'm just an Arkansan!

@Tina, better make that 4999 people who can't spell since Internet is capitalized and doesn't have an "s" on the end (because there's only one it's singular, not plural). But don't worry you should have lots of company.

Why do people keep saying "internets?!" I am no expert, but I do believe that is incorrect. Also, why would they want to ask this man about the dead birds?! The only thing that non-Cameron followers would know him as an expert at, is acting. The so called experts have said that dead birds in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Sweden are dead because of internal blows. That is not an explenation. What is causing these deaths would be more helpful. Something scientific please. It just seems to me that these "experts" are covering something up, because as I am Googling on the Internet, I see that there have been more bird deaths in other places in some of the headlines.

@Thinkingman- there is no reason to capitalize internet as it is not a proper noun. And as for Tina adding an 's' to the end of internet, it's a tongue in cheek reference to GW Bush's slip up when he in fact referred to the internet as "the internets". Pretty common knowledge.

I believe you are onto something, As I was born and raised in oklahoma, and live in north texas now. growing up I do not recall there even being tiny earthquakes. Ones that you can't feel, but since 2000 oklahoma started having lots of earthquakes, ones that we felt. Just recently one took place that was big enough that from South KS to North Texas "dallas" felt it.
I know that Ark.has also been having them.
I know from watching Geographic channel, there are 5 super volcanoes,
      1. Yellowstone Caldera –
      2 .La Garita Caldera
      3. Long Valley Caldera
      4. Toba Caldera
      5. Taupo Volcano

Well, for once he didn't actually SOUND like a crackpot religious zelot. It was more like "don't worry about the end of the world, let's fix the situation we're in right now" kind of thing. If he had been acting like a crackpot he probably WOULD have said "It's the end of the world, sinners repent"

They expected him to start moaning that it was the end of the world and everyone should buy his new book about gay people and bananas before the crocoducks come for them. Even he was too smart to give them a sound bite.
