i just wonder why they went for a surrogate mother, why didn't they make-up a child themselves; at least one should get pregnant, either john or David. can't a man get pregnant? they are trying to teach God what He does not know; that it is good for a man to marry a man. people blind-folded by the devil; filled with the desires of the devil. instead of searching for the truth and asking God for direction, they turned to the devil. oh! i am so sorry for as many that have decided to go this way. because of the this act the nation of Sodom and Gomorrah was brought to dust in one day.

I agree fully, Peter. If this is what GOD wanted and it is in the bible that its ok to be, "G.." then why aren't men able to have babies!! Marriage and romantic relationships are strictly between a man and a woman.

This kid will never take a beating in his life unless from his parents. The kid is worth more money than you and everyone you know taped together. He will not go to school, school will go to him. His parents can afford to send him to any school they want, or buy him hi own darn school. He will not have to navigate a trailer park on foot to get to school like you did.

Children ought to be given a chance to form there own opinion about there own lives as they grow up, not someone else's opinion being thrown in their face everyday, all day. Poor baby will not get a chance to experience what blessing life can be with a beautiful wife and child. They will be forced to see life through this male couples' eyes. Totally wrong !

I listen to a radio station once ask foster children how they felt about being adopted by guy couples. The understood what they were being asked. The all said " why would they care if someone wanted them, someone cared about them, made them lunch for school, asked if they had homework , made them a birthday cake...etc". These kids would have been pleased and delighted to have been adopted by guy couples.

    Congratulations to the proud parents.

Now for all you haters and judges.

    1. You condemn this woman for being a surrogate parent, for "selling" a child. Would you be saying the same thing if this was a "normal" couple where the female could not have a child? What about private adoptions that occur every day?

    2. Age, as many have stated it's a crap shoot how long we will live, what does it matter how old the parents are of any child, as long as they can provide and loving and stable environment for the child?

    3. Have any of you haters been inside of their home, have you sat with them and ate dinner with them, are you a frequent guest in their home, what gives you the right to judge anybody unfit unless you know them personally. Take off your blinders and look around your own neighborhood, chances are there is an abused child living there, or do you turn a blind eye to it?

We should not be judging anybody, in the end only one will be our judge, so knock off the hate.

I guess if you've got money you can buy anything or do whatever you like, buy a baby in Africa or Asia or pay someone to have one for you. This baby wont want for anything, but money cant buy you love.
And with Child trafficking on the rise what are the possible ramifications from couples with money buying babies.
Congratulations to you Elton & David

I think that it is wonderful!
    1) Nobody would be age bashing Sir Elton if he had a female partner. Everyone was happy for Tony Randall, and he was older.
    2) Life is not a guarantee. Just because you have children before you are 25 doesn't guarantee that you will be there to watch them grow up any more than being 60+ means that you won't be around for their 16th birthday.

Absurd to use a surrogate instead of adopting a child that has lost it's parents, allowing surrogacy while there are so many human orphans on the planet seems dumb, otherwise if the kid is raised with love and attention why does it matter. Obviously the kid will get lot of abuse at school, also these guys are a bit old to become parents.. I became a parent at 36 and that seemed a bit late for me, these guys should almost be grandfathers by now. Obviously it's better to have a mother and a father because men and women have different and complimentary values, skills, etc. to offer their children.

I have no issue with gay parents adopting children or using a surrogate. But Sir Elton is old be starting a family; My hubby is 63 and father of 9 1/2 year old twins, and I see how he does not have the energy of a 35 or even 40 year old. My kids also have lost 3 of 4 grandparents already, missing this major component in a child's life; they will also have to deal with old parents at a relatively young age, when they may have their own small kids to deal with. There is a reason we are biologically made to have kids in our 20s and 30s. If I could change anything in my life, it would be to have had my kids in my late 20s or early 30s.

I work in an inner city poverty clinic serving mostly drug-addicted and HIV positive young women and their newborns. As the social system sees essentially every birth parent as a a fit parent, these babies often go home with non-compliant mothers who see them as a financial gravy train (once the infants have stopped screaming and shaking after weeks of medically assisted inpatient heroin and cocaine withdrawal). Many end up neglected and/or abused.

More power to Mr. John and Mr. Furnish who desire to be conscientious parents, and will likely raise a secure, happy child. It stinks that an HIV positive child was not granted the same opportunity at a better life.

If we called straight marriage "Meeps" – the gay community would immediately want to be in "Meeps" relationships. Here's the deal – what ever you call two guys or two gals getting together and pretending their a family – is a joke. The sooner we figure this out – the less we'll all have to fight about it. Gays can have rights – it doesn't make them right because they're gay.....

Elton John is too old at this point to become a father. Period. He's in the realm of grandfatherhood now and has been for a while. And this gays raising children thing is just plain creepy! I know, everyone wants to be politically correct and most here are probably very young and think it's just dandy that the gays are marrying and having kids by surrogates. Surrogates are creepy too. Having a baby for someone else (and getting handsomely paid, I'm sure) is just creepy and wrong. Gays living as though they are normally married people (man and woman) is off-putting. And the biggest thing: OLD AGE! If Elton was hot to have a kid, where was he years ago? Oh wait, he was performing and busy with his career. At 63, the kid will probably not see his fathers at high school graduation, when Elton will be uh, 81. Hello, grandpa! If you think this is all great, then you are probably some idealistic individual with your head in the clouds – or up your back side!

I am amazed at the hatred people harbor in their hearts in the name of religious belief. God will be each of our ultimate judges. Lets not forget the admonition of Christ to "Love one another as I have loved you." If Christ were to post a comment here, I think he might be repeating yet another of his admonitions.. "Judge not less you be judged."

Life is to be celebrated not berated because you have decided you are God and only you know the truth! You are worst that any terrorist we have known. You prevert religion just as they do.

Just be happy for the time they will have together and stop the negatives. Thinking that way, why plan anything? You might die before you do it. I've never heard anything so dumb. Actually, religion is more natural. The religious dimension of the psyche has been a proven fact within analytical psych. (hint – it's a result of evolutionary meta-cognition and the self-domestication the ensued bc of it which has separated us from orginal relation to nature) You shouldn't talk about things you don't really understand, or just plain don't know. It's a shame this kid won't have a real mother, just a 2nd dad acting as one. But I shouldn't be casting pearls before swine and I also should never argue with an idiot such as you.

Nothing says you're going to make it through tomorrow, or that Elton John won't live to be 100.

Everyone has the right to be selfish too. I hope this kid is well balanced and handles tragedy well.

I'm so happy for you Sir Elton and David. You'll be great parents and he's a lucky boy to have you.

he is 63! Just going by average life expectancy the kid will have no dad by the time he is 12-16.

I'm concerned as well. David Furnish is 48. Furnish will be 68 when the boy is 20.

But I'm certain they will announce godparents/guardians just in case.

63 might be pushing it a little, but 48 certainly is not. My dad was 42 when he had his first and 54 when he had his last. He always felt having his kids late was what kept him young. He walked 2 miles a day, still looked like he was in his 60's and was very active until he was almost 84 when he unfortunately died of cancer....but not old age. Congrats Elton and partner.

He has 2 parents and @ age 48 David Furnish is 6 years older than my father was when I was born. Had my dad until I was 42 y/o...go blog on Hugh Hefner who stll has tots at age 85.
      Good for them 🙂

The life expectancy of a 63 man would be roughly 18 yrs ... not 12. If he makes it to 81, then his life expectancy from there would be around 7 years more than that... and if he makes it to 88, his expectancy would be 4 years. Bottom line, their child will grow up with loving parents. They may be older, but their wealth will certainly assist in covering any age-related deficits that might appear as they get up in years. So lighten up!

I agree, this is pretty selfish. The kid doesn't have a choice about losing a parent at a young age.

Who really cares what your point of view is? I am guessing that 99% of the time you are unheard and therefore this is your sounding board. Why is this a concern to you? Stop provoking absurd conversation and go and fight crime.......
