'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: Does Miley need professional help?I'll be honest: I think Miley is on a slippery slope. It was reportedly a hallucinogenic herb that many want outlawed in all states. There are major concerns about salvia, and she definitely seemed to have lost control. It’s extremely troubling! Also, Miley needs some new friends immediately! Who is influencing her to do/try these things, and who filmed her? Those are not friends. She needs to clean house. What do you think? Should Miley get professional help?! Personally, I think she's young and doing things that kids do. I'm not condoning her actions nor am I condemming them. We were all young once and we all did stupid things. Does she need professional help? No, I think everyone should just get off her back let her live her life, let her make mistakes and it's between her and her family, which is the way it should be.
Her video will not help the status of Salvia Divinorum (Sally D); it will surely be illegal after her disrespectful display. It's not a party drug at all, it can only be fully enjoyed in a quiet dark room. The effects can be magical and always introspective, taking the user to actually "feel" different places and times. We're just beginning to understand the benefits from the plant, so any illegal classification will cease this research and push the herb underground. Is it harmful? Not unless attempted in a reckless way. Going without sleep for 2 days will cause worse effects on motor skills and speech than a 5 minute Sally D trip (with similar hallucinations).
But hey, there are those who are uncomfortable with any experience outside of their own window-dressed lives focused on what some book says you should do. That's fine, just don't look at this video and take away plants from others who can benefit from the experience.

Yes, I think Miley needs help. She is totally losing control! I know that she is growing up and she's 18 and she is also seeing the end of her parents relationship but losing it isn't the right thing to do. I have a 6 year old who absolutely loves her but the behavior she's displaying now is something I don't want my daughter exposed to! She needs to get her act together!!!! We don't need another druggie for our kids to look up too! PLEASE MILEY for the sake of your young fans get some help and tone it down!!!!
SadMommy – your daughter loves the character she portrays and while to some extent this is okay, it is ultimately up to YOU to parent your children and guide them into what you wish them to become. My daughter used to like Miley until she became (in my daughter's words) "too much" & started wearing "really nasty outfits". My daughter is 11 and the fact she made this decision on her own has nothing to do with Miley but everything to do with her father & I being present in her growing into a young woman and helping to guide her to the young woman we want her to become.
With that being said – I think people need to back off of this young lady. She is 18 and finding herself. Do I expect my daughter to make the right decisions all the time? No – but I only hope she'll grow from her mistakes in the same way I wish Miley will. The media has spiraled out of control and I cannot imagine what it would be like to be famous and someone being in your face 24/7. At least the mistakes I made when I was her age weren't made public to the world!!
I'd buy her some salvia if she would show me her cans.
Ok. Let me see. i would think help would be needed to deal with all the garbage that she has been doing for years now. She probably is asserting she is her own person and may do as she pleases. She is maybe angry because it seems she cannot take a dump without public comment. And that she was not old enough to know what she was signing on for when she WAS a sweet innocent girl. I do hope this beautiful young lady does not baffle her talents and ruin her life with substances. But what would a doctor do for her give her some pills? THAT'S PRODUCTIVE NOT. A counselor who really doesnt get it. A little rebellion just needs tuff love and patience. What he she was your child. Would you run her to the first place availabl that claimed they could "help" her or would you love her through it and try to work it out until she was ok or really in trouble and the time comes to seek beyond family to professional help of the right specification. Look before you jump!
Maybe a good shrink to get her through the excitement she feels about being famous, rich and full of surging hormones. She could frequent a different group of people or maybe check into a college for a while. It would do wonders for her stability.
Poor MIley. I feel sorry for her. She's trying to grow up and become an adult in "Hollywood." Her work is cut out for her and it 'an't gonna be easy. I hope she manages to make it, but the odds are against her. I just hope she can learn from Lindsey and see what a mess her life became. I want Miley to make it so badly because I truly believe she's a good kid and she doesn't deserve turning her life into a social mess. It's up to her though. I wish her luck because she's going to need it. She is a very talented young woman and I see so much potential in her acting abilities. Hang in there Miley!
I'd be disappointed if my kid did this, but this isn't my kid. Leave the parenting to her parents. She's also legally an adult. She's at that age where we all do or did stupid things that we learned from. As mentioned, unless she's using harder things and plummeting into an unruly state, why toss someone in therapy for doing what normal kids do? Above all else, it's none of our business.
When you have put yourself out in the public eye to that extend, you have lost your private life. It is all out for comments and suggestions...good or bad. It is the breaks.
But just because it's out there for you to comment on, doesn't mean it's any of your business.
Ha, ha..She did seem to have gotten a little wild lately but there is nothing wrong with that. I was no saint when I was that age. She is 18 yrs so she will be heading in a different direction now. I just hope she would be able to control herself and not to hang with too rough a crowd.
I dislike Miley, and I'm not 18, but CMON! I bet not everyone's perfect, and just because she's all famous doesn't mean people should dwell on her mistakes. This is a horrible article, doesnt tell us anything, by the way.
Much ado about nothing. A teenager tried a drug (legally at that). Go figure. If anything, what she needs to learn from the experience is that she needs to evaluate how she chooses friends.
Can everyone get off their soapboxes & pulpits for one second. What she did, and some of her choices haven't been the smartest...but they have been made by a TEENAGER brought up as a child-star (hello DREW BARRYMORE drinking @ 11...she doing more than ok now). Miley is a teen who is going to make mistakes. She doesn't realize yet that most of her "friends" are riding her coattails. & what she did was LEGAL. She's breaking the over-sheltered Disney/Nickoldeon rules and tasting freedom. She'll ground herself. You didn't try ANYTHING dumb as a kid (and you weren't a star.)? You think your ALL of your kids (everone reading this) haven't done this or worse behind your back. That noise...it's your alarm clock going off. Do you now where your kids are? No they're not @ the mall like they said.
The way i see it is she is just tryin things that mostly all 18yr olds try.... give her a break... u can`t say u never trried anything when u were her aqge... i know i did... she`ll grow out of it she`s just havin fun
She is stupid for smoking the salvia and a moron for being filmed. Yes she just turned 18 but that doesn't mean you should act like a fool. She's just another bored teenager with too much money. The moron doesn't realize that this affects her job and eventually people won't want to work with her. Remember Miley there's are others out there who are responsible and better at you who are more than happy to take your job!!!

Salvia isn't newsworthy. This is equivalent to giving a cat a bit of catnip. Call me when she does a line of coke off a set of fake breasts in a Vegas night club. Just sayin'.
