Another bad flight for director Kevin SmithHe may be known for playing "Silent Bob" but director Kevin Smith has no problem airing his gripe with Virgin airlines. In a blog post yesterday, Smith, calling himself the "Loudmouth of the Skies," sounded off about not being allowed to board his Virgin America flight despite arriving at the gate with plenty of time to spare. "We pleaded with Manny (the unfriendly face of Virgin America JFK working the gate), pointing out the remaining time (there were still 8 minutes before scheduled departure), and pointing out that the jetway was still attached to the plane," Smith writes. "Flying as much as I do (usually up at the front of the plane), I know that the jetway only gets pulled back ONCE THE PLANE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED." A 'Teenage Dream' come trueIt was a "Teenage Dream" come true for fans of both Katy Perry and "Glee" at the December 5 Trevor Project Live event at the Palladium in Hollywood. Accompanied by the Fox show's Dalton Academy Warblers, actor Darren Criss, who plays openly gay student Blaine, performed Perry's "Teenage Dream" – the same song he performed on "Glee" and took to the top of the Billboard charts. Toward the end of the tune, Perry - who included the single on her "Teenage Dream" album this year – joined Criss on stage to sing a few lyrics from her hit. But Perry, 26, and Criss weren't the only ones who did a duet at the event hosted by the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention hotline for gay youth. While hosting the December 3 VH1 "Divas Salute the Troops" concert, the 50-year-old comedian took a jab at Palin, saying that the former "Dancing With the Stars" competitor "is the only contestant in the history of the show to actually gain weight ... She gained, like, 30 pounds a week. I swear to God, it was fantastic. She's like the white Precious." The crowd booed Griffin - and clearly, they weren't the only ones who failed to find the humor in her wisecracks. New Kandi Burruss song pays tribute to her late fianceIt’s been more than a year since the fiancé of Kandi Burruss died, but her new single pays homage to their love. “Haven’t Luvd Right” tells the story of a longing for a past love and, Burruss said on video posted on her official site, that the song took on special meaning after the death of Ashley “A.J.” Jewell. “That is a meaningful song, it’s very emotional,” Burruss said. “When I recorded it, I feel like you can hear the emotion." 'Blue Valentine' actors unhappy with NC-17 ratingThat NC-17 rating has "Blue Valentine" stars Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams seeing red. The drama, which tells the story of a young couple whose marriage is falling apart, received the racy rating because of its intimate sex scenes, meaning both marketing and ticket sales could be affected. "It's an inappropriate rating," an outraged Gosling, 30, tells CNN, adding that violent movies rarely get slapped with an NC-17. "I mean, you go see films and the guys are getting their arms and their legs cut off and that's an R rating, but ... if it's in the direction of a woman receiving pleasure, you know, and she's complicit in a sexual act, it's pornographic." |
