Bieber cancels performance after variety show disaster

Justin Bieber opted out of performing on German variety show “Wetten, Dass..?” Saturday after a contestant was seriously injured during the live program.

The contestant, 23-year-old Samuel Koch, suffered back and spinal injuries after jumping over a moving car while wearing stilts, reports.

“Just want to let my people in Germany know I won't be on ‘Wetten Dass’ tonight as an accident has taken place and … we all don't think it is right to continue,” Bieber tweeted. “Please pray for Samuel Koch & his family as we wait and hope for his health and safety.”

The pop star added: “Germany I'm sorry we couldn't perform tonight but some things are more important than putting on a show. We will be back I promise. Thank u.”

"Wetten Dass..?" has been on the air since 1981.

I find the angle of this headline quite interresting. It's not "contestant seriously injured on life german television", but "some musical act was not performed". It's like "piece of bread found on the floor" when the headline should read "Thousands died in massive Earthquake"

They canceled the show. He had no choice whether to perform or not.

The car was probably aiming for Bieber – and, unfortunately, missed.

I hear this kid thinks his hairdo is something new and original. He ought to google The Beatles (circa 1965) because it's not.

I think Justin had the right idea not to perform because I no he has lots of fans which were really disappointed and I no that is really important but that sort of thing is always more important because it was a serious accident.

He should have performed. The German audience could have seen something much more terrible and tragic and it would have taken their minds off of the accident.
