'Jersey Shore' among Barbara Walters' 'Most Fascinating'

If you’ve been fascinated by the “Jersey Shore” cast’s ability to lay around in bed for hours at a time, throw around the word "done" without actually meaning it and somehow still find time for regular GTL sessions, you’re not the only one. Barbara Walters is pretty fascinated with the reality TV stars as well, and has included the cast among her "10 Most Fascinating People of 2010" special.

Walters will also sit down with teen pop idol Justin Bieber; former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin; Sandra Bullock; LeBron James; new “Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez; and the recently engaged Kate Middleton.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a 2010 list if it didn’t include 88-year-old Betty White, whose star has arguably shone the brightest this year. But Walters won’t focus on just White’s success – she’ll also delve into her sex life. When Walters inquires if one still has sex at White’s age, the comedienne responds, “If one gets lucky!”

That sentiment is probably comforting to the “Jersey Shore” crew, who are no strangers to “smooshing,” as the cast members call it.

“I need a lesson. Okay, because you have your own language,” Walters tells them during the special. But when they started talking dollars and cents, an interesting tidbit came out: Apparently, Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi are looking to buy a house together with their reality show dough after Snooks pays off her mom’s mortgage. But they’re not looking in New Jersey; nope, according to ABC, the duo’s on the lookout in Long Island, New York.

To find out who took the No. 1 spot on Walters' list,  you'll have to tune in to "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2010" on Thursday, December 9 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

Babbs you need to retire as you just lost all credibility as a journalist. My gawd of all the people in the world you chose this annoying group of pseudo celebrities as the most fascinating?! Their 15 minutes of fame are over and so's your career.

"Go back to Jersey and stay there!"

Or better yet, go back to NY where you are from and stay there. NJ does not want you here any more.

I think it's fascinating that a group of people could be so mindless.
I don't really understand the unwarranted attention heaped on these people. They are a group of simpletons whose only goals in life is their next drink and lay. They have done NOTHING of note except act obnoxious and tarnish the image Americans in general. Go back to Jersey and stay there!

Is this really how bad things have gotten? The only thing fascinating about them is how they ever got on TV.

Were there no other fascinating people? What about a solider fighting for our country .....she could have interviewed one of them. Really, the Jersey shore. What a wasted interview.

      Barbara,
When you have to resort to calling a group of under achievering, alcholics, good for nothing, some of the most fascinating people of 2010 you really didn't look too hard!! I've just lost all journalistic respect for you. What about interviewing the gentlemen in TX who builds homes, at no cost, for returning wounded vets? Now that is a fascinating person. If being a loser is now good and fascinating no less, I wouldn't have worked all my life to make something of myself. Please cancel them from your show!!!!!

Perhaps Ms. Walters got too much anesthesia during her recent operation, and her judgment was imparied. Sarah Palin may be fascinating to 25% of America, but these grease scrapings prove that Walters has finally found the true bottom of the barrel. I'm embarrassed for her.
